It's the middle chapter of our X-Factor arc! The Thugmaster's Elite graduation ceremonies begin and you won't believe who's in attendance! All this and more in X-Factor #21!
This week we kick off the last story arc for the 2002 Awards voting year. X-Factor #20 is the first of three new issues that features a ton of heroes and villians! Many of our old favorites will be showing up! Check it out and then discuss it in the forum!
We've got a big Handbook update this week! Leading the way is FOUR brand new Biography/Character Sheet combo's featuring Lady Darkness, Lord Evil, Blaise Morgan, and the Darkness itself! Now that enough of these folks backgrounds has been revealed, it was time to give them the BIO treatment. Oh, and you might learn a thing or two about some of these folks not yet mentioned in the files! They can all be located in the Most Wanted Handbook.
Over in the Avengers Handbook, we've got updated BIOs for both Muskateer & the Enchantress. Plus there's an addtition to the Enchantress' Character Sheet as well.
You've heard whispers about it on the Forum. You've been warned to expect the strange and unusual. But words cannot prepare you for the weirdness known as "The Great Thanksgiving Roast"! Check out this very odd exhibit in the Muskateer Gallery! But don't say that we didn't warn you!
It's back to the Avengers once more, as the team wraps up the situation at the Carrington Estate and tries to uncover just what has been going on. All this and more in Avengers #35!
This week we premiere the double-sized twenty-fifth issue of Muskateer! Muskateer and the Sorceress have tracked the Enchantress to Terra Nova! What will they find? Read Muskateer #25 to find out!
We've reached yet another 25th Anniversary issue this year and as per tradition, we look back on the original source material. The original Muskateer series ran 28 issues and became "Muskateer and the Enchantress" in the 25th. However, most of the last ten issues were more like recaps of stuff we did live than actual stories.
There's not really much to comment on content wise. The first issue of the old Muskateer picked up with Musky accepting the job at Tyler Labs, which has yet to happen on the website. Some of the material regarding the labs will be dealt with in future issues. The Glitter/Silver Spectre character made her debut in the old Muskateer series, albeit under a different name and with different powers. And that's really about it. So, go and enjoy the new issue and post your comments in the Forum.
Additionally, we had a request to identify all the characters on the Birthday Card picture in the Muskateer Gallery. We've added text description of everyone to help out those folks unfamilar with Champions.
With the Avengers dealing with the situation on Ryker's Island, it's up to Firestar and the Texas Ranger to go assist the Scarlet Sabre at the Carrington Estate. Our story continues directly from last week's file as we find out where the Enchantress has gone. All this and more in Avengers #34!
After you've checked out the new file, you can move over to the Forum to discuss it with the other site regulars. All you need to do is register to be able to post messages and vote in the polls. Do it today!
As promised, it's back to Muskateer once more! Muskateer #24 features Musky and his allies, the Sorceress and Scarlet Sabre, as they attempt to rescue the Enchantress from the mansion of Lady Darkness! Just one small catch: an army of supervillains stands in their way! Wall to wall action in this one!
But that's not all! We also have opened up a brand new forum to replace our old and ancient letters page! You can check the Forum out here! Just register and get in on the conversation!
Minor Handbook update this week! The BIOS for the Enchantress, Scarlet Sabre, and Fuergeson have all been updated! In addition, recent appearances were added to many other BIOS. Over in the Gallery, there's a picture of Jessica Flynn in her 'Empress of Technology' garb!
The next new file will be Musakteer #24 and hopefully we'll be able to post it in a few weeks. Consequently, there may not be any updates for a week or two depending on how long it takes to finish. After that will be Avengers #34. Those are followed by an X-Factor arc that features the return of a great many favorite villains. After that it's back to Muskateer and the Avengers once more! Stay tuned!
It's the conclusion to our Scarlet Sabre arc! Can Jessica escape the clutches of Fuergeson the Great, or will she become his bride? Find out the answer to this question and others in Scarlet Sabre #13!
It's the day after her date with Kyle Sherwood and Jessica just can't seem to get him out of her mind. All this and more in Scarlet Sabre #12!
We take a minor break from the Muskateer/Avengers storyline and kick off a three issue Scarlet Sabre arc! Scarlet Sabre #11 starts it all off as Jessica goes on a date with Kyle Sherwood!
Continuing on with our "it's been a long time coming" theme, we present Avengers #33! With the revelation of Lady Darkness controlling Ryker's Island, the Avengers are out to do something about it!
This file has the rather dubious honor of taking the longest time between completing the first draft and it being posted on the site. The first draft was written over a year ago! It happened last summer while I was working on the previous Scarlet Sabre arc. The elements of the story fell into place and I wrote it in just two days. At that point, I knew the gist of what was going to happen in Muskateer #23, but not the exact details. Since that time the file was re-written twice in order to make it fit better with Muskateer #23, so it's not identical to the original version of the file.
Anyway, that's enough back story for this file. Go and enjoy it! Coming up next is a three-issue arc featuring the Scarlet Sabre!
Its been a long time in coming, but it's finally here! This week we present Muskateer #23, which kicks off Musky's hunt for the Enchantress! Beginning with this issue some of the mysteries and events from the past few years will be tied together and explained. Guest Starring the Scarlet Sabre and the Sorceress!
Hey gang! The new Muskateer file isn't quite ready yet, but we do have something to tide you over. Over in the Muskateer Gallery, we've opened up a new exhibit! This one is for Stefandia, who was mentioned in the Stephanie exhibit. You'll also discover Stefandia's connection to one of our main characters as well! Hopefully we'll have Muskateer #23 for you next weekend. Take care!
Gigantic update to the Handbook section this week!
First off, we open up a brand new gallery! This one is the Terra Nova Gallery and features four pics of Terra Nova related characters! Check it out for pictures of Friza, Katrina, Lady Darkness, and Lyndah!
In our regular picture Gallery we have new pics for Blaise Morgan and Lord Evil. Oh, and Lady Darkness is also here as well. She is a menace to two worlds after all!
In the Most Wanted Handbook, we have added new pictures for Scorpia, Shamrock, and Fuergeson the Great! Mind Slayer's pic has been upgraded as well. Lastly, all four of these villains have had a Character Sheet Notes section added to their BIO's.
Over in the Wild Cards Handbook, we've added a pic for Jet and also added a Character Sheet Notes section to her Bio. We've also opened up a Silver Spectre Gallery featuring Spectre in her Midnight persona.
We've upgraded both of Nightingale's Pictures in her BIO and Gallery in the Avengers Handbook. Lastly, we've also upgraded Sapphire's Pic in the Young Champions Handbook.
That's all for this update! The next new file will be Muskateer #23 followed immediately by Avengers #33! I know a lot of people have been looking forward to these, myself included! More than likely, M23 will go up in two weeks.
After those issues, we have a 3 issue Scarlet Sabre arc and then we hope to go back into Muskateer & the Avengers again! It's definitely going to be a hot summer for the next few months! Enjoy all the new artwork!
With the completion of the Captain Valor arc, its BIO update week! In the Avengers Handbook Captain Valor's BIO has been updated. Additionally, the Terra Nova sections for the BIOs of Black Diamond, Huntress, Nightingale, and Texas Ranger have also been updated.
The Cat in the Normals & Neutrals Handbook has an update in her Terra Nova section. Last, but not least, the Scarlet Sabre in the Heroes Handbook has updates in both her Lost Heroes and Terra Nova sections!
Stop back in two weeks as we unveil a whole slew of new artwork!
It's the conclusion to the Captain Valor mini-series! Can Lyndah be saved? Will Vina succeed in capturing Friza? All this and more in Troubleshooters #30! Check it out!
The mysteries continue with Troubleshooters #29! Who kidnapped Captain Valor and Lyndah? Who is calling Kristine? Even worse, Vina is still hunting for Friza! This issue will answer some of these questions and ask more!
We've reached the middle chapter of the latest Captain Valor saga! The Windsabre makes landfall at a hidden city and then the fun really starts! All this and more in Troubleshooters #28!
Can Captain Valor and the Avengers of Terra Nova keep the Windsabre afloat? Find the answer to that question and others in Troubleshooters #27!
By now, you've probably noticed that we've introduced a smattering of the Ectolain language into the files. In most cases you'll be able to figure out the word in question, or at the very least come up with something close to what is being said. The language that I am using for the Ectolians is a real Earth language and in most cases, the words do mean exactly what their English translations are. The other words are still found in this other language, but I've changed the meaning to fit my needs. Yep, more fun with languages!
We kick off a new story arc this week with the return of Captain Valor! Troubleshooters #26 picks up on events from the first Captain Valor mini-series as Valor and the Avengers of Terra Nova attempt to reach the mainland on the Windsabre. If their enemies have their way, this is one ship that will never make port!
I originally conceived this mini-series to be three issues long. As the issues were being written it quickly became apparent that three was not going to be enough, so it became a four issue series. Naturally, four issues also ended up not being enough to contain this particular story and rather than cut corners, it ended up being expanded to a fifth issue. So this week we present the first of five issues of Captain Valor and the world may never recover from it! The Co-Winner from last year's Best Storyline award is back for more! Check it out!
It's a very special week here as we present our 200th file! To make this event even more special, we have a new issue of Lost Heroes! Lost Heroes #6 completes Muskateer's journey back to his base, only to find Mechanon waiting for him! 'Nuff Said!
This week we have a Handbook update! In the Young Champions Handbook, you'll find updated Biographies for Nemesis, Tempest, and Tigress. Also check out the updated pics for Gladiator, Nemesis and Tempest!
Over in the Most Wanted Handbook there are updated Bios for Daigon, Panda, and Raccoon!
Last, but not least, we have updated Howler's Bio in the Normals & Neutrals Handbook and added new art to her entry! Enjoy!
It's the giant-sized conclusion to Howler's Quest in Young Champions #25! Zanthar has been freed to wreak havoc on the Lost Realm. Can he be stopped or is the Lost Realm doomed? Plus the battle between Tigress and Daigon continues!
Traditionally, when a series hits its 25th Anniversary issue we like to look back and reflect on the differences between the new series and the old. (A tradition I forgot back when Troubleshooters #25 rolled around, but there really wasn't much to talk about there.) There was no Young Champions series back in our original campaign that spawned this website. In fact, the Neutral Ground supplement that introduced the concept of Sanctuary came out right around the time when the campaign ended.
However, since that time there have been a total of three versions of Young Champions. The original version was a Live Game I ran on Q-Link and then continued on as a Message Based Game. Other than the core concepts being similar (teens gaining powers by being experimented on) the rest of that game went down very differently. There was no Sanctuary involved and none of the main characters were carried over. Later in the game, another group of teens were experimented on and from this group came the original Nemesis. The powers were the same, but that version was more mature.
The second version was a short-lived Play By Mail game I ran for a small group. It didn't last very long, but is very similar to the way the current Young Champions played out. The characters of Terra Fire, Tempest, and Nemesis were all carry overs from that game. (Although Tempest had a different name at that time, as another character was called Tempest.) That game began with the teens waking up after being changed in the VIPER Base. There were other characters with Terra Fire, Tempest, & Nemesis, but they were not included this time around. They ended up being rescued by the Superior Seven, but the game sort of disinitegrated after that.
And that's basically the story behind Young Champions. Pretty much everything covered in this series is brand new or based on ideas I've used elsewhere. The Aquans, for instance, were used a couple of times in the Q-Link games and were used here. Including the nickname one of my players gave them: 'Sushi with an attitude'. That's pretty much all there is to tell. Go and enjoy the extra-long conclusion to Howler's Quest! It's our largest file to date!
The Young Champions finally catch up to Daigon and her cronies in Young Champions #24! The secret behind Howler is revealed as we reach the penultimate chapter of Howler's Quest!
Stop back in two weeks as we present the double-sized conclusion to Howler's Quest in the 25th Anniversary issue of Young Champions! It's shaping up to be the largest file on the site yet! Enjoy!
The Young Champions reach the Lost Realm while the fate of Howler and Tempest is revealed! That's just the tip of the iceberg in Young Champions #23!
This week we kick off a four issue Young Champions Arc that culminates in the exciting conclusion of Howler's Quest! The Lost Realm lays open to Howler and her band, while Tigress is back among her teammates. All this and more in Young Champions #22!
Also, check out the upgraded group shot on the Young Champions Index page!
With the completion of the X-Factor/Spectrum arc, updating all the relevant Bios comes next! Over in the X-Factor Handbook we have updated Bios for Blizzard, Icicle, Mockingbird, Sabre, Shockwave, Empress, Impact, and the X-Factor Team Bio. Also check out the updated pictures on Spinnerette's Biography and in the Shockwave Gallery!
Our picture Gallery returns with a pair of older images, Jack O'Lantern and Lady Victory, along with a trio of new ones! It's the normal ladies of X-Factor as you can see Jackie Carter, Stephanie Sculley, and Whitney Parks!
Last, but not least, is a new exhibit in the Muskateer Gallery. This one tells the real story behind Stephanie!
One last note. There will be no update next weekend due to the Easter Holiday. Stop back during the first weekend in April as we kick off a four issue Young Champions arc that leads to the conclusion of Howler's Quest! Take care!
Its the conclusion of the X-Factor/Spectrum arc as we present Spectrum #32! Icicle goes into action as a heroine for the very first time as half of the team takes on the Destruction Crew!
This week we have two premieres: a brand new issue of Spectrum and a brand new Spectrum Index! Spectrum #31 shows what Spec has been up to during the current X-Factor issues. Plus, look for important happenings for his brother and sister!
Also new is Spectrum Index 2! Why a second index? Well, 30 issues is enough for one index so we've opened a second one. Enjoy the new file!
They say 'time flies when you're having fun'. It's hard to believe but it's now been a year since the transfer to the new site started. Even more surprising is that this March will wrap up our 6th year online! Where has the time gone? And just who are 'they' and how come they know so much?
X-Factor #19 wraps up the team's encounter with the Kilbots and X-Factor's move into their new base. Next week we jump over to Spectrum to see what he and his family have been up to!
This week we kick off a X-Factor/Spectrum arc with X-Factor #18! This particular arc will feature back to back issues of X-Factor, followed by back to back issues of Spectrum. In addition, we've replaced and upgraded the group shot on the X-Factor Index page. Enjoy!
In the immortal words of Monty Python: "And now for something completely different!" This week we open up the Muskateer Gallery!
At this point I imagine that you're pretty confused. After all, there already is a Muskateer gallery featuring a couple of Musky pics. So no, this new gallery is not more pictures of Muskateer. Rather it's other pictures drawn by Muskateer that we've decided to showcase on the site.
The pictures in the Muskateer Gallery are works of art from other the various games that we have run in the past. Primarily in this case, Dungeons and Dragons. There are also a few very odd Champions related items coming up as well. Each exhibit in the gallery will come complete with a full explanation about the person or persons in the picture.
Kicking off the Muskateer Gallery, we have two exhibits. The first is a hand drawn birthday card I got one year from Muskateer, X-Factor style. The second is a PC from my most recent D&D game, Jylsera. Enjoy our unusual new feature!
Stop back next week as we kick off a X-Factor/Spectrum Arc!
In the aftermath of our Superior Six arc there is lots of new stuff in the Handbook section this week! Let's get right into it!
This week we premiere the Superior Six Handbook, complete with new and updated Biographies, Character Sheets, and Pictures for many of the members! There is a team biography as well!
Over in the Heroes Handbook, the Sorceress has been pulled out and placed in the new Superior Six Handbook. In her place, we've added the Purple Phlox complete with Biography and Character Sheet!
There is also an updated Bio for Black Paladin in the Most Wanted Handbook. Last but not least there is a new Biography for Lady Bale as well!
Truth be told, I had every intention of ending the Superior Six mini-series with Troubleshooters #24. That's when I realized that the next issue was going to be the twenty-fifth issue, which traditionally we try to make an extra-long special issue. Rather than having the next Troubleshooters mini-series kick off with a double-sized issue, I cooked up an extra-length single story issue. The story picks up on a few plot strings from the Superior Six mini. However, most of the issue is a flashback tale featuring a past exploit with the Enchantress and the Sorceress. Oh, by the way, there's an extra special guest star but you're going to have to read Troubleshooters #25 to find out just who that is! Enjoy our special anniversary issue!
Facing foes from all sides, the Superior Six battle on! Check out the action packed conclusion to our current story in Troubleshooters #24!
Stop back next week as the Sorceress tells of a past exploit with the Enchantress in the double-sized 25th Anniversary issue of Troubleshooters!
Things start to heat up as the Superior Six are attacked on all sides! VIPER is up to no good as usual, while Black Paladin and Lady Bale put in a major appearance. Plus, you get to meet Phoenix and her Rat Pack! Check it all out in Troubleshooters #23!
We kick off the New Year with a four issue arc featuring the heroes from Texas-- the Superior Six! All this and more in Troubleshooters #22!
Now I imagine that some of you are asking just who the heck are the Superior Six? Well, they were one of the very old NPC hero teams from our original campaign. They popped up every now and then in various places. When we decided to re-do all of this stuff that eventually led to the website, I went back and filled in quite a few missing details about the Superior Six. Using the old stuff as a starting point, the members were fleshed out and actual character sheets created. Ironically, they went through the fewest changes compared to the other two really old NPC teams the Guardians and the Freedom League.
In the current stories, the Superior Six have had quite a few background appearances. Some of their members were involved in what happened in the first three issues of Young Champions. They helped out during the fight against the Crimson Claw. The Sorceress is the best friend of the Enchantress and so she has appeared a few times in Muskateer. So in short, the Superior Six have been around lurking in the background.
Now for the very first time they've taken center stage. So come on in and meet all of the Superior Six. It'll be one wild ride!
It's a New Year and the results of the 2001 Awards are now up! Go and see who won!
Stop back next week as we kick off a 4 issue arc featuring those heroes from Texas-- the Superior Six!
