Sword of Doom # 23
The Company is now reunited. You are now currently in the area at the foot of the stairs, where you were attacked by the hill giant zombies.
Perrel and Arathnasis have safely returned from their exploring.
At the moment, the Company is deciding its course of action.
Glancing down the other corridor, you can see that it travels 60' and then turns to your left. There is a set of double doors on the left hand side 40' along the way.
Suddenly, your attention is diverted when you hear someone coming down the stairs. Looking, you see a man in studded leather coming cautiously down the stairs. A longsword and a shortsword are in his hands. A longbow is on his back.
Both sides regard the other cautiously...

Spectrum's Comments: The stranger is a new PC.
SUBJ: Perrel... FROM: Count Kill 12/26/90 S#: 797724
I am surprised by the sudden appearance of this fellow coming down the stairs, but quickly realize that he may be friendly as he carries a weapon in both hands, usually the sign of a ranger.
"Hello!" I say, venturing forward with my weapon sheathed. "Mayhaps you can help us. Is this the way to the lair of the Zombie Master?"
"We just can't find it. They really should put signs up." I say with a warm smile. "You'd almost think he didn't want us to find him."
If the man attacks us, I'll use my tumbling to dodge, and continue doing so as long as he attacks me, making snide comments about his swordsmanship while I do. If he attacks someone else, I draw my rapier and attack him.
SUBJ: Crandor... (R) FROM: GM Falcon 12/27/90 S#: 798945
"Are you...", the newcomer hisses, betraying great anger, "..the scum that have desecrated this forest? If so, I will make a sacrifice to (local nature deity) of you.."
He relaxes when he hears of a Zombie Master. "That's a rather ominous name...kinda fits with what I saw outside. Who are you?"
He doesn't sheathe his weapons, though he holds them in a non-threatening manner.
Crandor is a tall man, and of average weight (for the height). His studded leather is a utilitarian brown, and his swords appear unremarkable to the untrained eye. Black, short hair can be seen under the leather coif protecting his skull, and a moustache adorns his face. A longbow is strapped along his back with a quiver. Near that is a spear easily as tall as it's wielder.
The newcomer is no longer young, though old might be unfair also. He glances at you with a practiced eye, calmly sizing up the situation, and resigning himself to his fate should it become needed. His gaze lingers momentarily on the female members of the party, his face coldly neutral.
Spectrum's Comments: And this is Crandor. As a GM, I was, along with Kill, Falcon, and several others, what was called Sanctioned Game Masters. All the players in our games had Sanctioned Characters. Part of our job was to regularly update all the player character sheets and uploaded them into a library so that the players could get a full copy of their sheet. A Sanctioned Character was one that the player could transfer into another game should the game he was in end. Such a character maintained his current level, although the GM could edit some of the magic items. Crandor started out as a first level character in a different game and advanced to 6th level as a Ranger. That particular game ended, and Falcon asked to transfer the character into my game. And so here he is. There would be other characters that would transfer in the games. It didn't happen in Champions as I was the only one who ran that game system. They had nowhere else to go!
SUBJ: Omni Tuens (R) FROM: Omni Tuens 12/27/90 S#: 799159
When the newcomer enters in a rage with his weapons drawn, Omni's hand inches towards his sword. When the stranger speaks, and Perrel doesn't appear to make any headway in the conversation, Omni quickly steps forward.
"Greetings. We are the Company of the Sword, a group issuing from Gateway. I am Omni Tuens, leader of the Company. The caravan we guarded was assaulted by servants of the Zombie Master. When we investigated further, and realized the extent of his foul deeds, we decided to end it. That brought us here. And who, may I ask, are you?"
Omni remains cautious, not meaning to seem unfriendly, but realizing that underneath a crypt in the lair of an evil necromancer is the wrong place to be totally trusting of a man who walks in pointing a sword at you. Assuming the matter is resolved quickly, he'll turn back to the company and speak.
"Well, let's move on now before the Zombie Master can regroup. We can at least check into the double doors, and then decide if we want to go any further. Any objections?"
SUBJ: Crandor... (R) FROM: GM Falcon 12/27/90 S#: 799231
Crandor listens to this Om-nee-two-ends speak. Two ends..he thinks to himself.
That's even odder than 'Zombie Master'
However, Omni explains that they are putting an end to this Zombie Master, and Crandor nods. "It did seem like foul sorcery out there, and you don't look like a sorcerer, friend. Yes, let's bag us a Zombie Master."
Though he remains cautious, and friendly wouldn't describe his reaction well, he sheathes his weapons and approaches.
"I am Crandor. I know nothing of your Gateway, I'm afraid. I remember boarding a ship after the War with the Doomaran Empire, and I caught some form of ailment. I lost track of time, but the ship landed, and I rested in the forest. A few days ago I set out to explore, and found the forest in ruins. I followed your trail in here.."
He glances around suspiciously. "Is this all of you, then? I could have sworn I detected one more."
Spectrum's Comments: Actually, I always considered it to be pronounced almost like it was spelled: Omni Tunes. An appropriate name for a bard! Crandor relates some of the background from the game he came from. It was essentially a different world he came from.
SUBJ: Drakkor FROM: Troll 3a 12/27/90 S#: 800185
I keep my hands on my sword and look around hoping to see something.
SUBJ: Schar FROM: Schar 12/27/90 S#: 494719
I smile warmly as I see the warrior descend the starts. Some gut feeling has me believing that he is not our enemy; instead he is here to help in our task.
"Well met, Crandor. I am Schar, priestess of Azrella, the Healer. It is our goal to heal the damage done to this forest and end the foul depredations of the Zombie Master. We are being aided by a follower of Ehlonna herself, the patron of the forests."
Crandor sees an attractive young woman in her late teens. She stands a mere 5'6" and is of average weight. Her hair is long and blonde in color. Eyes are blue as a clear sky. Her dress is conservative, wearing a now dirtied blouse, riding pants and boots. A mace is tucked into her belt. Around her neck is a necklace holding her holy symbol, an azure infinity sign. She also wears a silver headband.
"Yes, Omni, let us finish this matter!"
I follow the Company down the passage.
SUBJ: Arocken (R) FROM: Wildchilde 12/27/90 S#: 802178
"You are indeed at astute observer, Crandor there was one more of us, who was taken from us by this zombie master, but believe me my friend she will be avenged!!"
SUBJ: Arathnasis FROM: Wildchilde 12/27/90 S#: 802215

Sorry last response was under my wrong character name. Opps :)
Spectrum's Comments: That can happen when you run lots of characters in lots of different characters. Arocken was his Frontier character.
SUBJ: Argent FROM: Enchantres 12/29/90 S#: 807766
I quietly watch as the armed stranger comes down the stairs and keep my distance. I'm more relieved once I hear that he is on our side.
'Now that's over with, let find our host and get out of this creepy place!'
SUBJ: Perrel... FROM: GM Kill 12/29/90 S#: 810002
"Hello Crandor, I am Perrel Vinlok, the party's resident rogue!" I say with a warm smile, and a sly wink. "It's a honor to meet anyone else willing to help us with defeating the Dark Donkey."
I move forward slowly, as to not startle him, and offer him my hand in friendship.
"Welcome to the Company of the Sword!"
"Let us move on, Omni! Crandor here is an omen from Tymora, one we should not ignore. Obviously it is his way of saying that the Zombie Master cannot stop us, and we need not worry."
As Crandor looks about the party, and I see his fixed gaze come to rest on the ladies, I, nonchalantly move closer to Schar, making it look like a natural action.
"Onward!" I say boldly, walking close to Schar as we move on.
Crandor sees a young half elf, with brown hair, blue eyes, and a thin mustache draped over a warm smile.
But, I am oddly dressed for such an excursion, with no armor, and only a buckler for protection. Not to mention the somewhat flamboyant clothing, a white silk shirt, black trousers, black soft boots, complimented by a purple sash and headband, and a Holy Symbol about my neck.
SUBJ: Crandor.. FROM: GM Falcon 12/30/90 S#: 811517
Crandor smiles slightly at Schar, but the smile seems a bit tight. When he hears of Merri, he nods to himself.
"Well...", he mutters, "....if she had stayed home, this might not have happened."
He glances at Schar again, and sighs. 'Great, people I have to keep an eye on....', he thinks (TO HIMSELF.) He looks at Perrel's hand as if it's a snake, then finally grasps it.
"What is this Zombie Master anyway, and why has he chosen to desecrate Ehlonna?"
Spectrum's Comments: Apparently Crandor has some baggage from that other game involving women as well. I personally didn't know anything about the game he came from as it was a Live Game.
SUBJ: Perrel... FROM: GM Kill 12/30/90 S#: 512041
"Hmmm...not the friendliest of fellows, is he?" I think TO MYSELF as Crandor seems to contemptuously take my hand. "Oh well, comes from living in the woods and playing with squirrels, I bet."
"Well, Zombie Wierdo wants to take over everything around here, and seems to have something against forests. Maybe he was bitten by an elm tree or something?"
I frown slightly when Crandor smiles at Schar, but try not to show it.
Spectrum's Comments: Perrel definitely sees Crandor as a rival for Schar's affections! Or maybe he just liked picking on Falcon?
SUBJ: Johnathan FROM: Stretch611 12/31/90 S#: 818523
Finally stepping forward with my hand crossed against my chest, I introduce myself.
Greetings, I am Johnathan, a Necromancer. Here to destroy the Zombie Master for all he has done.
You see a thin gaunt man wearing black robes trimmed with red runes.
I assure you that I am good, and to show you, I put my life in your hands. I am currently out of spells.
The Zombie Master killed my family and the best way to destroy your enemy is to know your enemy. Thus I have learned the ways of Necromancy to better know my enemy. Now we are joined together to destroy him.
To the party. I feel that it may be best to return. Give us a chance to heal up. AND MEMORIZE SPELLS. Many spells were used up against the first line of defense. I still believe that it is going to take many trips in to finally destroy him.
SUBJ: Out Of Character FROM: Omni Tuens 01/01/91 S#: 820186
Crandor, Perrel.....
Just out of curiosity, does Schar get a say in any of this? Even if its only TO HERSELF?
;D
Spectrum's Comments: Apparently not...
SUBJ: Schar
"Behave yourself, boys. We're here on a dangerous mission and there is no place for this duel of words. I have yet to need protection. My faith will carry me through the battle to come."
I then follow the rest of the Company, somewhat amused over all the protective feelings about me going around. Schar smiles to herself, appearing to be quite pleased with herself. It's not every day that she has men fighting over her! ;)
Sword of Doom # 24
Crandor has joined the Company of the Sword as you continue forward after the Zombie Master.
The party cautiously moves down the corridor towards the double doors. The doors are engraved with symbols of worship to Nerull, Patron of Death. Neither door is trapped in any apparent manor.
Pushing one of the doors open, you look into a small temple of Nerull. The room is 40'wide and 50' long.
Your attention is drawn to a black figure in the far right hand corner. He just completed the casting of a spell!
Instinctively, the Company dives for cover.
A two-pronged bolt of lightning streaks towards the Company, catching Eliza, Ever, Schar, Tralgo and Crandor in its path.
Ever and Tralgo are dead before they can hit the floor. The others are not in great shape, but still live.
"Can't you people take a hint?? I don't want you here! Get out! Shoo! Vamoose!"

"You piece of...", Crandor hisses, stumbling to his feet.
The ranger looks at his smoking clothes, seemingly more concerned about that then the ragged electrical scars across his frame. Anyone looking close might actually see shock.
Heedless of the possible danger, Crandor draws both weapons. "PREPARE TO DIE, you son of a...dragon turtle!"
Spectrum's Comments: That was definitely a TOS curse. (Terms Of Service)
SUBJ: Perrel... (R) FROM: Count Kill 01/02/91 S#: 825916
"Schar!" I yell when the attack hits her. I turn to help her, but once I see that she's still alive, even if badly burned, I quickly move towards ZM. Despite my wanting to stop and help Schar, I realize that we need to stop ZM first.
I quickly run in his direction, and upon reaching him, I attack with my Rapier. If it looks like he's starting to cast a spell, I'll stop and throw a stiletto at him to break his concentration.
"Instead of this senseless fighting, why don't you just settle down, and take what you have coming to you." I say to ZM, a wicked grin on my face.
SUBJ: Omni (R) FROM: Omni Tuens 01/02/91 S#: 826187
When Omni sees the spell go off, he quickly throws himself onto the floor, and realizes to his horror that some of the others were not as quick. He rises just as quickly; barely waiting for the bolt to pass and knowing he doesn't have time to check on the others. Launching himself forward, Omni raises his sword above him as he charges across the room towards the dark figure. His face twists into a snarl of rage as he tears into the necromancer who has repeatedly assaulted his company and the surrounding lands.
"You've met your end, foul creature! Your spells will harm no others! If you need to kill so badly, then try your magic with me, instead of the innocent!"

SUBJ: Berek Demonslayer FROM: AREION 01/02/91 S#: 829196
At the sound of The Zombie Master's voice, Berek show the first signs of being aware of his surroundings since Merri's brutal death. Violence and hate flicker defiantly in his eyes...seem to endow his limbs with an invincible power. He chokes down on his two-handed sword, his lip curled in rage. Words full of malice and contempt spew from his lips.
"Forgive us, mighty Zombie Master, but we couldn't help but notice you affinity for Nerull! We just thought that, perhaps, you'd care to meet him...IN PERSON!"
Without another word, he makes his way towards The Zombie Master at a brisk walk. He strides as though oblivious to danger; he's a man with a mission, and no obstacle short of death will stand in his way. Any attack cast in Berek's direction that doesn't put him down will be ignored. Berek is beyond fear, beyond pain...hatred consumes him, and in its solace he's found power!

Standing, I see the others move to attack the Zombie Master. I follow at a short distance, but avoid any melee. I'll use my CLW and then Aid on those in the direst of need.

Post Continued:
The Company rushes the Zombie Master.
Arathnasis casts a Magic Missile, blasting the Zombie Master, ruining the spell he started to cast. The fighters rush him.
Tristan moves a few steps into the room and casts Sunburst off of the scroll.
A bright light fills the room, blinding the Zombie Master and several of the Company. Those fighters moving to the attack are unaffected as the spell went off behind them.
Unexpectedly, there is a sizzling sound from several locations around the room. Those looking see the zombies that had been earlier turned dissolving! (They were hidden, awaiting to attack by surprise.)
Crandor reaches the Zombie Master first, sinking both blades deep into the villain. Perrel, Omni and Berek each land sword thrusts, further wounding ZM.
To almost everyone's amazement, the old coot is still standing.
He takes a step back, touches a portion of the wall and steps into a secret passage. The wall closes again before the Company can reach.
Touching the same spot, the wall slides open and you give chase! Ten feet away, a second secret door closes as you enter. Finding a way to open that door takes a few seconds, but the Company accomplishes it.
You now find yourselves in a corridor and spot ZM fleeing. Eliza and Arathnasis overtake him. They both hit and ZM drops.
GM Notes:
That wasn't too bad, was it??
;)
Spectrum's Comments: It took long enough, but the company finally takes down the Zombie Master. Or do they...?
SUBJ: Perrel... FROM: GM Kill 01/06/91 S#: 465690
My courage leaves me slightly, as I stand facing the man who earlier struck me down in a cowardly attack. I realize that he could've used that Lightning Bolt on me just as easily as the Magic Missile that he did fire.
But, I don't let my determination waver, as I swing with my Rapier, striking him with it.
"You sure you don't want to just surrender?" I say to ZM as I strike.
Once he takes off down the secret passage, I run after, hoping that since I'm one of the least encumbered party members that I'll be able to catch him before he gets away.
Once I see Eliza and Arathnasis catch him, and him dropping to the ground, I run over and stop.
"Well, I know you're supposed to dispose of Undead in certain ways, does that apply to those that create undead too?" I say. "Of course, we always could take the corpse with us and have it stuffed. Don't you think he'd make a great lawn ornament somewhere?"

SUBJ: Johnathan (R) FROM: Stretch611 01/07/91 S#: 445175
So this is what is feels like to have spells cast at you. I think as I roll out of the way of the Lightning Bolt. As soon as I gain my feet I see the fighters in my way so hold back my last and only spell...Color Spray.
After he escapes and we give chase I follow carefully.
Once we are over the dead body, I speak after a few minutes.
"Does anyone have holy water to douse the body with? Or perhaps a Bless spell to be sure the body does not return to unlife. He may have some contingency spell that will bring him back to life. We must Bless and douse with holy water. Then burn the body. Bring the ashes back to holy ground and bury him. Not precautions are too great when it comes to evil like the Zombie Master."
I feel that this may not even be him. Perhaps a servant. I will remain on guard.
SUBJ: Tristan FROM: FrankP25 01/07/91 S#: 827602

SUBJ: Omni (R) FROM: Omni Tuens 01/08/91 S#: 796153
Omni feels a surge of excitement as his blade rips into the foul master, and a rush of adrenalin as the chase goes on thru his catacombs. Only once the evil menace has fallen does he allow himself a smile.
"Excellent work, company. I suggest we look around to make sure he doesn't have any other menaces to life hidden in these tunnels- or anything we may find useful. After we take any precautions our respective clerics might suggest, I feel we should burn his body in a pyre outside, as Jonathon suggested."
Omni's face suddenly darkens as he continues to speak. "Then we can return to the temple of Ehlonna, tend to our wounded...and honor our dead."
SUBJ: Drakkor FROM: Troll 3a 01/08/91 S#: 804948

SUBJ: Schar
I follow the fighters after they enter the secret hallway in case any healing is needed. I feel numb when the Zombie Master goes down. On one hand he was a man of great evil and deserved to meet a foul end, but as a Healer, all live is sacred. Alas, the matter is not in my hands and he perishes.
"I agree with Jonathon. We must give the body a proper burial. We have the holy water given to use back in Gerald's Fort. I propose to use one vial to cleanse the Zombie Master's body and another to destroy the altar in Nerull's Temple. Perhaps then this forest can return to its natural state."
SUBJ: Argent
Argent lets out a hearty laugh as the evil mage goes down.
'Way to go guys!'
As the others deal with the body, I'll check this hallway out for other secret ways. Ol' ZM must have had a place to sleep. Perhaps his spell books are near there....
Sword of Doom # 25
The Zombie Master has fallen and the Company of the Sword is triumphant down in the catacombs.
Holy Water is sprinkled on his body and Schar says a pray to Azrella that the Zombie Master should rest in eternal peace.
Using the 2nd of the four vials of Holy Water carried by the Company, she sprinkles it on Nerull's altar, destroying it.
Now that you have the time, you take a good look at the corridor you find yourselves in. One end heads back to the entrance to the catacombs and connects to the hallway with the entrance to the temple. There are no doors along the way.
The other end of the corridor travels only 10 feet past the secret door from the temple. It ends at a door.
As you open this door, you senses are assaulted with the smell of rotting flesh. Behind the door is a huge room (70'x70') filled with many dead bodies of various races. They appear to be true dead.
Argent searches the hallway for more secret passages. Her efforts are rewarded as she locates a section of the wall that pushes in, much like the triggers on the other two secret doors.
A section of the wall slides in allowing access to a large room. The room is 40'x 60' and has no exits. Several large tables with alchemical equipment fill the room. Cabinets line the walls, filled with jars of various, unusual things.
GM Notes:
XP's will be posted once you return to Ehlonna's Temple. Almost everyone will have gained a level by then.

As the healer works, she is oblivious to her own wounds, tending to all those who wish her services before treating her own.
"I would surmise that the bodies in the large room are for future zombies. Ones that he intended to create. I submit, Omni that we should also give these poor unfortunates a proper burial."

I look at Schar as she goes about healing everyone, and think to myself about how glad I am that she's still alive, and find myself smiling without even knowing that I'm doing so.
"Schar, I agree with you that all the bodies should get a proper send off, including ZM's, but we could be digging for days that way."
"I'm not saying we shouldn't give them a proper finish though, but there are other ways to do so than burial. I think a nice, purifying fire would do the job wonderfully, and it would ensure us that ZM is truly deceased, and would not return in future to plague us or this land."
"And just think, they can get a funeral service from about 3 different religions as well."
I help Schar with the healing as much as I can, and then I help search the place, using what little thieving skills I have in whatever way useful.

"Though it has destructive tendencies", the ranger murmurs, "Arathanis' plan has merit. I mean, if we're going to such trouble with the bodies then we might as well annihilate the lair as well."
"Only one problem I have with it. This place will catch quickly, and I don't think priests can give a proper service on the run."
He sits back against the cool wall, listening for Omni to make the next move. He continues to regard Schar with a faintly disapproving, or perhaps just sad, look in his eyes.
SUBJ: Omni (R) FROM: Omni Tuens 01/11/91 S#: 523230
Omni appears almost at ease for the first time since entering the mausoleum, and fiddles with the ring on his finger as he absorbs the possibilities for a funeral.
"I agree that we should destroy this lair, regardless of whether or not we leave the bodies in it. Otherwise, some other back-from-the-dead upstart may decide to move in. Leaving them here would certainly be the easiest way. However, I'm not familiar with religious ceremonies regarding funerals. Perrel, if you, Schar, or any of the other priests object to those arrangements, I suppose we can make the time for a pyre. Anyone who wanted to look around further should go ahead and do so...the sooner we leave this place, the better. Once we return to the Temple of Ehlonna, we can decide our next step. Currently, I favor paying a visit to Waypoint before resuming our journeys elsewhere."
Omni then walks around the murky confines restlessly, glancing around in disgust at some of the possessions of the Zombie Master.

Catching the Zombie Master was all that kept me on my feet. Once he lies dead at my feet, I sit back against a wall and try to relax.
When Schar comes and tends to my wounds, I smile up at her, "Thank you but you should see to yourself first. You can not be much good for everyone if you go down because you are not well." If Schar still wants to heal my wounds I let.
Later as we search the place for goods, I approach Perrel, "We have seen several secret doors while we have been own here. Even the path down here was concealed. Before we do any burning, don't you think we should double-check everything? There may be more tunnels under, above or around us. He may have even hidden his treasure the same way he hid his passage ways especially since he was the only one down here."

"Well, now that the ZM is down, I say that it would be a good idea to torch this place, but these unfortunate souls deserve a religious burial or cremation."
I will tend to the wounded, casting CLW on whoever is now in the worst shape.

A smile comes to the Invoker's lips as she sees the hidden room.
'A laboratory... Interesting..'
She will proceed to explore this room, hoping to find something of magical interest.
After hearing about the bodies and plans to bury this place, I approach Omni.
'Omni, I feel that we should make a complete search of this lair. His spell books should be around here somewhere and we mages could sure use them! Plus he may have magic items beneficial to our quest or perhaps information on the Sword itself.'
She awaits Omni's answer.

I believe we should search the ZM's lair and then burn the bodies and the mausoleum to prevent any further evil in this area. Fate has obviously given us this great victory! I use my CLW*2 on any of my friends who need it and then help search. Being Elven and a thief comes into handy.

The noble warrior listens to Argent's words, and then nods reluctantly.
"All right, Argent. You may have the time you need to make a complete search of this lair. Just....be careful. This place still makes me uneasy. I suppose I shouldn't worry, though...you will have some expert assistance."
This last is uttered with a grin towards several cleric/thieves in the party who are already busy searching away. Omni then starts deciding on the best method to eliminate the stronghold, considering both fire and collapsing it as viable options.
SUBJ: Perrel... FROM: GM Kill 01/14/91 S#: 472488
"You're right, Eliza, and since Omni has said we can search away, I suggest we do. Why don't you help Argent search though? Mages tend to get carried away, and throw caution to the wind when magical items are involved, and a sane voice of reason might help." I say with a smile, and a wink at her.
While everyone else searches, I'll pray for some CLW's and then heal whoever needs it, and if necessary do it again, as many times as are needed.
"Omni, I say we collapse it, as it'll serve two purposes. First, it'll destroy the place, and secondly, it'll bury the dead bodies that he intended to use at the same time."
"A fire may leave soot on the walls, and possibly burn down a couple supports, but could it really destroy the place?"
Seeing Crandor looking at Schar makes me mutter under my breath a little, and when he has his back to me I stick out my tongue in his direction. ;P
SUBJ: Schar
"I agree that we should search the lair completely, I merely stated before that healing the party was more important to me then searching."
As the healer works, she keeps on ear trained on the conversation. A look of shock appears on her face when collapse the catacombs is mentioned.
"Omni, I think you should carefully consider such radical action. Even though the Zombie Master dwelled here, I seriously doubt that he built the graveyard itself. More then likely, it belongs to those in Waypoint. Should we not contact them before destroying their property? This place may have once served the cause of evil, but our victory has tipped the scales once more. I have no problem with cremating the dead here. In fact, I strongly suggest it. Fire will purify the soul, sending it to a better place. If all faiths believed in cremation we would not have to worry about Zombie Masters turning the fallen souls against those who live. Graveyards would no longer menace the landscape. In fact, I make it known to all here, that if I should ever perish, I wish my remains to be cremated, not buried in the cold, harsh ground."
Having said my piece, I turn back to my work.
Noticing Crandor's stares, I wait for an opportunity to speak with him. I shake my head and smile at Perrel's disapproval of him.
"You've been watching me for quite some time now, Crandor. I am puzzled as to why. Is it that I remind you of someone? An unpleasant memory? Let me help you ease your pain."

Any place that has been dedicated to evil as long as this place would not be a desired place to return to. The people probably have been using another place. When evil is destroyed, fire is used to purify the place. By burning the place the people are more likely to return to use the cemetery.
I will spend all my time in the laboratory checking for magic, necromantic paraphernalia and other items of interest. Upon returning to the temple will get them blessed and checked for evil.
