Sword of Doom # 1 - 2

Sword of Doom #1

It is spring in the year 579 CR. (Cynalonian Reckoning.) You have all lived most of your lives in the Kingdom of Cynalon, honing and practicing your skills. At last you feel that you are ready to begin. Ready to take your first step on the road of adventure.

Your motivations vary. Some seek wealth. Some power. Still others the thrill of the fight. You all consider yourself fortunate. For this is the time of adventurers. It is your time.

Many years ago, before most of you were even born, the Kingdom of Cynalon shattered the evil Keln Empire to the east.

Decades have passed and now the Crown is ready to expand into the old Keln Empire. Adventurers are needed to explore this ancient land and deal with the menaces that exist there.

It is said that wealth will come to those worthy of this task.

Spending your life savings, you collected your meager belonging. With high hopes, you set out of the City of Gateway, the Crown's base of operations in this endeavor.

Through circumstances beyond your control, you arrived late at Gateway. It was already the beginning of the month that would correspond to June. Numerous adventuring parties had already received a commission from the Crown and gone into the Frontier.

You've spent several days wandering the streets of Gateway. During this time you have encountered several others in the same boat.

Finally you got the break you were looking for. Word had it on the street that Sharadin the Archmage of Gateway was seeking a party of adventures to embark on a great quest.

Without a second thought, you traveled to the mage's estate. A lovely young woman with blonde hair and blue eyes greeted you at the door. She introduced herself as Terry.

Terry was then joined by her identical twin, Sherry. Together the ladies, Sharadin's daughters if asked, escort you to a large meeting room. In the meeting room you encounter still more adventures also looking to undertake a quest or at least see what the mission is.

The girls depart, leaving the would-be adventurers alone. They say that Sharadin will belong shortly.

GM Notes:

Welcome to the opening post of the Sword of Doom!

At this time, I would like each of you to introduce yourselves and post what comments you have so far.

You might wish to elect a team spokesman and give a name to your group. This is not a must, but something you should consider.

I kind of skimmed over the history of the game in this post. I have a data file for this game and The Frontier in the works. The information in the file will explain much.

Spellcasters, include your spells in memory!

Spectrum's Comments: And that's how SOD started. Sherry and Terry are back and oddly enough no one said anything to them. Oh well! Sharadin shows up in the next post. This was set two months ahead of where the Frontier started. Real time wise, it was about a year after I started Frontier. Some of the players may be familiar as they had or in some cases will have characters in both games. The biggest problem these guys had in the beginning was picking a leader. Read on for that part!

SUBJ: Arathnasis (R) FROM: Wildchilde 07/28/90 S#: 842420

Stands alone in a corner while the party waits. As the party begins to introduce themselves he steps forward.

"I am Arathnasis, and for those of you who are wondering, yes I am an elf."

Arathnasis stands about 5' 6" tall and looks to be about 150 pounds he is dressed in chain mail armor and carries a long sword buckled to his belt. He also has a shield. Short bow and a few arrows are slung across his back. And in his boots you can see the hilts of daggers. Arathnasis has long light brown hair worn straight with the exception of one extra long braid protruding for the left side of his head.

He also has a very noticeable scar below his left eye that travels the length of his face. His eyes are a dark brown.

Spells in Memory:

Detect magic.

Spectrum's Comments: Seems that this game was sparred my poor first post by a player in a new game curse. Deslock is one of those familiar names.

SUBJ: Balamar (R) FROM: Deslock 07/28/90 S#: 470291

"So, fellow adventurers, my name is Balamar, who might you be?"

The speaker is a half-elf of average height and large build. His long, dark hair frames a weather worn face from which piercing gray eyes gaze. His garb is all of greens and browns; he wears studded leather armor and a long sword, short sword, and dagger.

Spectrum's Comments: Deslock is one of those familiar names. He played Araduin in Frontier, Nazgul/Ranger in Crusaders, and Number 6 in Lost Heroes.

SUBJ: Hail... FROM: Kein Galed 07/28/90 S#: 470358

"Hail and well met, me fellow adventurers! I am pleased beyond all accounts ta be in yer company." With those words said, I raise me mug of dark ale, and take a deep draught.

Kein is quick to introduce himself to any other party member, and responds freely, if a bit long winded, to any questions asked of him.

Kein Galed is a 1/2Elf Bard. He stands over 6', and has long lt. brown hair. He sports a moustache, and has a set of very deep blue/green eyes. He wears a green tunic, brown trousers, and wears a long reddish/brown cloak fastened with a rather ornate clasp around his neck. He seems well armed, with a long sword and lt. crossbow, several flights of arrows, and a dagger hilt protruding from the top of his soft, leather boots. Slung over his left shoulder he carries a rather old, but beautiful, Mandolin.

SUBJ: Perell Vinlok... (R) FROM: Count Kill 07/29/90 S#: 450170

I quickly straddle a chair, and turn to face the others at the table.

"Good day, one and all! My name is Perell Vinlok, and it's a pleasure to be making your acquaintance." I say with a warm smile, and a twinkle in my blue eyes.

Those looking at me see a rather thin looking Half Elf, dressed in a fine white silk shirt, tight black trousers, polished boots, with a red sash about my waist, and a red headband about my forehead with the ends trailing down onto my shoulder.

"My vocation is that of the Priest, but I do have a bit of a Swashbucklers background. A bad influence that, but one I enjoy dearly."

Those looking will notice one thing, my complete lack of armor, with naught but a small buckler to shield myself with.

"So, as long as we're waiting, why not share stories of interest and revelry. Share some of the grand times we've had up until now, and then years from now we will have many tales we will have shared together. What say you?"

"If not that, how about at least a game of cards?" I say shuffling a deck one handed. "I'm not really that good, but willing to try." I say with a twinkle in my eye.

(Memorized Spell is Sanctuary.)

(Nice to be in the game Mad, although I'm afraid to find out what you're going to do to us. ;D )

(To the rest of you, Hello! It's nice to be here with you. Now let's see what we can do to drive Mad crazy. ;) )

Spectrum's Comments: Boys and girls meet Kount Kill aka GM Kill. Kill was probably my best friend among the other Q staffers. This guy is an excellent player. Perrel was one of the few characters to last all the way until the end of my days on Q. His relationship with Schar, a character who turns up in a few posts, is something to watch unfold. Kill also portrayed Magebane in the LA Knights and Timeshift in Crusaders.

SUBJ: Omni Tuens (R) FROM: Omni Tuens 07/29/90 S#: 450594

"Greetings unto ye all! I am Omni Tuens, merely Omni for friends- as I hope we shall be. Now by all means, please tell me...what brings ye here?"

With this, the well-built human sits comfortably in a chair, assuming a position that shows him to be at ease, yet alert and polite all at once. Looking around the room, he smiles at the others in a manner indicating great friendliness. This powerful swordsman is dressed in very elaborate clothing, indicating a heritage that may be of noble origin....although the well-kept chain mail and massive two-handed sword he carries also seem to indicate knowledge of more 'worldly' matters. He is also quick to join in the telling of any tales, eager to find out more about those around him.

(Hmm.....Drive Mad mad? An interesting concept...) :D

Spectrum's Comments: Omni Tuens is another good player. His character lasted for quite a while, continuing on in the Frontier after the merger. He briefly had another character in the Frontier, but dropped that one shortly after the games merged.

SUBJ: Greetings... (R) FROM: WitchDoc3 07/29/90 S#: 471783

Looking up from the middle of an conversation...."Oh, is it my turn?". After I set down the cup of ale, I jump to my feet. "Allow me to introduce myself, I'm Eric Barban, Priest of The all encompassing God Monard. At the age of 12 I felt the calling to become a priest.....". After my small speech, I sit back down to resume my conversation with any of the other characters.

Eric is a 5'10 slightly overweight human with dark black eyes that are just as black as his curly hair that surrounds face. His face looks like it was born with a smile on it. Underneath tattered robes can be seen studded leather armor. Next to him, on the floor, is his warhammer leaning on an overstuffed backpack with a mace sticking out of the top. This is all being guarded by a black alley cat (Felix) that is laying next to it.

SUBJ: Greetings... (R) FROM: WhiteFlash 07/29/90 S#: 450674

"I am White Flash, the thrill of adventure has brought me here, has it you?" With this he raises his mug, "To adventure!"

The human male stands roughly 6' and is of healthy build, his most prominent feature is his lengthy platinum blonde hair (hence the name). The steel pommel of his long sword accents the well-worn splint mail and dark brown cloak. The absence of a shield is noticeable but made up for with skill and quickness. The well-stocked pack tells you he is here to stay.

SUBJ: Oops... FROM: WitchDoc3 07/29/90 S#: 450689

The spells I have memorized are Bless and cure ltx2

SUBJ: Berek DemonSlayer FROM: AREION 07/29/90 S#: 450833

A lean, well-built young man (human male) stands up to introduce himself.

"Greetings friends, Berek DemonSlayer at thy service. I was born and raised in a small village not far from here. I doubt any of you have ever heard of it. My people are humble farmers by trade, but such a life holds no place in my heart. My parents do not approve of my decision, but alas, the fault is their own. Twas they who raised me on the legends of old...filled my youth with tales of courageous adventurers fighting for honor, love, and glory."

"I have no tales to tell I'm afraid. This is the first adventure I've had the privileged to embark upon. But I've trained hard and well, if I do say so. I'm honored to be accompanying thee.

Spectrum's Comments: This was Areion's lone foray into D&D games that I ran. He primarily just played Champions characters such as Professor Abriax, Strongbow, Areion, Badger, Black Tarantula, and Gargoyle.

SUBJ: Argent

"Hail, fellow adventurers! I am Argent, a mage of Invocation magic."

The speaker is an attractive, but frail looking young woman in her late teens. A brown hooded cloak covers her features, but curly brown hair can be seen underneath.

"Quite a turn out here, today. Anyone have any idea what is going on?"

Spectrum's Comments: Meet Argent. She's probably my favorite of the stable of D&D characters that I ran on Q. My prototypical Invoker in a pretty package. Argent was not afraid to use her feminine wiles to get what she wanted. I partially used Argent as the starting point for the Empress' personality. Consider Argent to be 'Empress-lite'. Of all the players who started out in Sword of Doom, only she, Omni, and Perrel lasted the entire game. Right now she's checking the guys out to see whom she wants to spend time with. Argent was also one of the characters from Jim's first novel. Argent, Schar, & Perrel all stated in Sword of Doom while Validar, Stephanie and Finrod were from Frontier.

SUBJ: Tralgo FROM: Knightwind 07/30/90 S#: 481584

"Hail and well met!!", croaks a skinny lad standing 5'11" and looking to be all of 170 lbs. "Tralgo here! I've just been discharged from my village militia and seek to make a name for myself and my people."

Tralgo is wearing ring mail and a helmet and carries a shield. He wears a long sword on his left hip and carries a morning star on his right. He has a longbow strapped across his back along with a small quiver of arrows.

Although his equipment looks to have been bought in a bargain basement, everything is clean, sharp, and oiled.

SUBJ: Belrek FROM: Belrek 07/31/90 S#: 803287

Berek Demonslayer feels someone knocking on his knee. Looking down he sees a gnome male about 3' tall, with a baldhead and fluffy white beard. He seems to have a scowl on his face. You are surprised to hear a high piercing voice come from this body.

"Did I hear you say your name is Berek? You'll have to change that you know. My name is Belrek, and I don't want anyone to get me confused with one as big and clumsy as you. Way I figure it, I have had my name a lot longer than you, so figure out something else. Here let me give you a hand. Let's see...How about Farm boy? Sounds good, and fits you well. So be it. HEY EVERYBODY!! This is Farm boy here. He will be insulted if you call him anything else but that. And you all can see those rippling muscles under that shirt of his, so I don't think you want to do that right? Good, I am glad that is settled. Now where is the guy running this shindig, I can't stay here all day?"

SUBJ: Johnathan FROM: Stretch611 07/31/90 S#: 487858

From out of the shadows a voice speaks. "I am not head of this shindig, but allow me to introduce myself"

You see why this person was easy to miss, a human male of average size but thin walks out of the shadows cloaked all in black. His face is plain but his eyes hold the sorrow of many deaths.

"I am Johnathan, a necromancer..." holding up a hand to calm the outcries he continues. "Please hear me out, despite your thoughts I am good and detest evil. My chosen profession is the black arts so as to know my enemy. To know ones enemy is to destroy ones enemy. I will rid this land of every last undead or die trying. Allow me the courtesy of joining you to prove myself. I have been open from the start and will be till I die. I ask the same of you."

He sits back in the corner waiting to see the reaction of the fellow adventurers.

Spells memorized Detect Undead, Chill Touch

SUBJ: Carpathia FROM: Bad Girl5 08/01/90 S#: 489929

Someone notices a dark figure in a corner of the room. Out from the shadows comes a beautiful human, named Carpathia. But, her beauty is only skin deep. She is very deceitful, and will cut you down with the drop of a pin. She is a fighter, and she has a strong figure. She has a long and short sword, with Splint armor. A medium shield finishes her exterior. She has blue eyes, & stands about 5'5" tall. She is never in a mood to "chat a while."

SUBJ: Perell... (R) FROM: Count Kill 08/01/90 S#: 412694

I sit there, and smile calmly as one Berek talks to the other. Then I wander over to them.

"Friends, this truly is a day for coincidences. You both being named the same thing is indeed confusing, but not all that uncommon. Let us make the best of it, and not quibble over such a small thing."

"You can both do the name proud, and instill much honor in it."

"Come sit, join me in a game of chance to pass the time until our host arrives."

With that I sit at the table once more, and shuffle the cards.

"Whose in?" I ask, before dealing cards to those that answer in the affirmative.

"Who wishes to tell a story to enliven things whilst we play? Someone must have some tale of interest to help while away the time."

SUBJ: Game? (R) FROM: WitchDoc3 08/01/90 S#: 489755

Leaping from his chair, Eric rushes over to the newly founded card game. "Deal me in my friend, but, I can't bet much, I'm not very good at these type games, beginning a priest and all... Should I deal?"

SUBJ: Omni.... FROM: Omni Tuens 08/01/90 S#: 839855

Omni smiles at the exchange between Belrek and Berek, confident that both gnome and human can arrive at a suitable compromise. Quickly dismissing his reluctance for card playing, the warrior approaches the starting card game that apparently puts both Eric and Perell at ease. Approaching the priests, he asks with another smile,

"May I join you gentlemen?"

Upon their assent (Hopeful assent) the friendly human pulls up a chair, determined to get along with those that apparently are his future allies.

SUBJ: Berek DemonSlayer FROM: AREION 08/01/90 S#: 490775

Berek cocks an eyebrow at Belrek's outburst. While the gnome is turned, shouting to the others, Berek reaches down and lifts him to eye level, keeping Belrek's arms pinned to his side, Berek glares mirthfully into the gnome's face.

"How could one so SMALL possibly have such a BIG mouth? You would do well to heed your own advice little one, though a farm-boy I may be, I am not a man to be trifled with..."

Berek glares into Belrek's eyes, trying to keep a straight face, but a crooked smile fights its way past his control and he erupts in laughter.

"...Very well then. I would ask that all of ye refer to me by my full or last name (ie: Berek Demonslayer or just DemonSlayer). Satisfactory friend Belrek??"

After putting the gnome down, Berek DemonSlayer will ask Belrek to join him for a drink.

DemonSlayer becomes noticeably tense when the Necromancer enters...he was taught not to trust such men. But then again, he's done much his parents would have warned against...and will welcome the sorcerer.

SUBJ: At the last minute... (R) FROM: Modesty1 08/01/90 S#: 825450

'Greetings!' A human female of uncommon beauty stands up. 'I'm Meridith, but call me Merri. My story is simple and similar to Berek's here, so I won't bore you with the details.'

When a card game is mentioned, Merri is interested. 'Cards? Why sure I guess. I'd love to. Um...but how exactly do you play?' She piles a small stack of coppers on the table.

After she loses her money (if she does) ;) she turns to Berek and says 'Demonslayer, that's quite a name. However did you earn that title?' Her eyes are open with wonder and there is no trace of sarcasm in her voice.

Merri is a tall but slender woman, with long blond hair tied up into a bun, and blue-gray eyes. She wears chainmail under a cloak, and a large sword is in a scabbard attached to her belt. All her equipment looks brand spanking new. She has a fresh-scrubbed complexion and a certain naive charm.

SUBJ: I say... (R) FROM: Kein Galed 08/01/90 S#: 439287

You two fellows are enough to make a grown man fall to his knees with laughter" Kein says, pointing at Berek suspending the gnome Belrek in the air. Kein moves to join the others at a game of cards, hardly a stranger to the game, he simply enjoys the competition. A good judge of people, he feels many lessons could be taught and learned at a card table.

He notices Merri as she enters, and is quite taken with her beauty. He greets her warmly, and offers his hand in friendship. He also makes an attempt to befriend Balamar, as a fellow half-elf he understands the occasional reluctance of others to befriend one such as he.

Kein is quick to speak with anyone who approaches him, and often with those that seem reluctant to begin the conversation.

SUBJ: Balamar FROM: Deslock 08/01/90 S#: 493012

I greet the others as they come in, but remain uninvolved in the games and conflicts that arise.

"Don't worry about me, Kein, I long ago learned that those who would judge you by your looks are little worth knowing, anyway."

SUBJ: Montagne de Gallant... FROM: Shaunnessy 08/02/90 S#: 788511

"Greetings fellow adventure seekers!" is heard from the man just now striding into the common room. He is human of average build and striking good looks. His leather armor is of impeccable taste and at his sides swings twin rapiers. To all the ladies present he doffs his plumed hat and makes a sweeping bow. Montagne's eyes twinkle merrily as he meets each lady's gaze in turn after which he solemnly greets the men with a 'Hello' and a firm handshake. "My name is Montagne... Montagne de Gallant and I've come to seek fame, fortune and the company of these lovely ladies! To each of you in our fine group I offer the services of my blades and whenever the need arises....the comfort of my arms. His jade eyes glance over to the bartender. "Here! Here! A round for all of the members of our cheery company!" He lays out several gold pieces with a flourish then takes his own goblet of wine and heads towards the card game in progress. His hand trembles slightly as he fidgets with the fingers of his right glove.....his mind racing with thoughts of battles, riches and other successes....all achieved in the name of Montagne de Gallant.

Spectrum's Comments: Any guesses as to who Argent is going to target?

After a short wait in the meeting room of Sharadin, the wizard himself arrives. However, his appearance is not quite what you expected. Sharadin is tall, muscular man. He has short blonde hair, blue eyes and is clean-shaven.

"What is this?! I ask for some adventurers and Shea sends me an army! Welcome, humble adventurers to my abode. Make yourselves at home."

"I see that you already have", Sharadin says, noting the card game. "Hmmm, I wouldn't be surprised if that deck was marked..."

"Enough small talk. Let us get down to business."

"The Crown is looking for a group of adventurers to undertake a great quest. The quest for the Sword of Doom. We're not totally sure just what the Sword of Doom is. We don't even know if it really is a sword at all! But what we do know is that it is a weapon/item of great power."

"The Sword came into possession of a Lord Kairn some 100 years ago. At the time, Lord Kairn was a minor noble in the old Keln Empire. Kairn quickly rose to power in the Empire via the Sword. It is said that the Emperor himself took great interest in the sword."

"By the time the war between the Crown and Keln broke, Lord Kairn oversaw the largest portion of Keln itself."

"Fearing the power of the Sword, a band of adventurers infiltrated the lands of the Frontier and launched a surprise attack on Kairn's Fortress. The attack was a complete success. Kairn himself perished in the battle."

"However, no trace of the Sword was found."

"The war raged on, and little thought was given to the Sword. It never surfaced during the conflict."

"At the end of the war, the Crown retreated back to it's own lands to recover its wounds. The adventuring band that had conquered Kairn's Fortress returned there to claim it as their own and continue the search for the Sword of Doom. They were never seen again."

"All of this would be interesting piece of history if not for this newest revelation. We intercepted a memo concerning the Hextorites, the priesthood of the vile god Hextor who are attempting to reclaim the Keln lands for themselves."

"In short, the message ordered a band of adventurers to be sent to investigate Kairn's Fortress and claim the Sword of Doom in Hextor's name."

"Naturally, we can't allow them to do this. The Sword could dramatically shift the balance of power."

"I've done some research on my own about concerning the Sword. As near as I can tell, the Elders constructed it, the race that walked this land before us. I have uncovered little else."

"I've been constructed by the Crown to have a group of adventurers investigate this matter. Your task, if you choose to accept it, is to find the Sword of Doom. Or, at the very least, prevent it from falling into enemy hands."

"Your adventuring party will be given full Crown support. Captain Shea will explain more when he arrives."

"Any question?"

GM Notes:

There you have it, the Quest for the Sword of Doom.

Continue to get to know each other and decide if you want to undertake this mission.

When dealing with the Crown, it would be wise to select a party spokesman and give a name to your band.

A background file for this game is now in the Treasure Chest Library!

In if you'll find the history of the game and other interesting notes. The file is title 'Game info - GM Mad.'

As a adventuring band in employ of the Crown, you'll receive gold to purchase more equipment, be given a mansion to use as a base of operations in Gateway and given free training!

Now what are you going to do?

Spectrum's Comments: Why are there so many PC's? (Not quite double the starting amount for Frontier.) The reason for that is simple. I was a comped GM at this point that alone attracted more players that someone calling themselves DM Fred. (Certain names or word combinations could only be assigned. No one could take a user name starting with GM, so typically there were a lot of DM such and such running games on Q. Secondly, I knew that I would lost at least half these guys in the first twenty posts or so. It was just a minor headache for a while.

SUBJ: Arathnasis FROM: Wildchilde 08/02/90 S#: 398131

"I for one am willing to undertake this adventure! Let the Quest begin"

As for choosing a leader I don't think that should be done just yet as none of the participants have yet to prove themselves in this adventure. I am open to any suggestions for a spokesperson though. Also I would suggest that before we begin this adventure that the spellcasters compare spellbooks to acquire spells that they may not have in their books and that this policy of "open" spellbooks be used throughout the campaign.

SUBJ: Adventure (R) FROM: WhiteFlash 08/02/90 S#: 497200

"Aye, let us began to undertake this most noteworthy challenge at once!" I for one am in complete agreement with Arathnasis no 'leader' should be chosen as of yet. And spellcasters please do compare notes." With this he stands up with mug in hand "To the Quest!"

SUBJ: Omni Tuens (R) FROM: Omni Tuens 08/03/90 S#: 46127

Omni waits until the story is done, then rises and introduces himself formally to the mage:

"Greetings, noble mage! It does my heart good to see that one of the mystic arts is not afraid to also keep his body in shape! I am Omni Tuens, a warrior previously at hire, but now at your service, and that of the Crown. The dangers you speak of are what I came seeking...you may count me in on your quest. Now...as to questions... you spoke of researching this sword. Might it be possible to gain access to your notes for those more scholarly adventurers who will be seeking the sword with me?"

With this said, Omni turns back to regard the others in the room with a smile, speaking once more.

"I quite agree that we should not pick one to lead us hastily. However, others that we meet may not feel the same, so I suggest that we all keep our thoughts open on this matter, and consider those among us in the event that the need does arise to pick a leader."

After finishing this, the sturdy warrior smoothes out his elegant garments and walks to the head of the table, smiling eagerly.

"This leaves but one item of importance unaddressed, friends. When do we start?"

SUBJ: Belrek (R) FROM: Belrek 08/03/90 S#: 499604

At first when Berek picks Belrek up, he is a little nervous in the big human's arms, but when he puts him down and offers him a drink, a smile comes back on Belrek's face.

"Hmmm maybe I underestimated your intelligence my boy. I'm not sure about Demonslayer as a name though. It seems a little to long and stuffy for me. Demon for short would give people the wrong idea about you and Slayer just doesn't sound right. Are you sure you don't like Farm Boy? It sounds good to me. Oh well, let me think more on the matter. We will find the right name for you yet."

After Sharadin is done talking, Belrek gets up on a table and starts talking very loud, "Sword of Doom.... Surely we will go on this quest. It will be good for our image to start with such a task. I think I can speak for everyone here in saying that we are all brave and strong enough to go on a task that only a fool would not undertake. Now as for a leader, I think Berek is the ideal choice for this job. He is a well-seasoned warrior, who has a fine wit and is very articulate, for you fighters that means that he can talk very well, and he has one quality that I think makes him ideal for the job. He knows when to buy a person a drink. Here let me show you. Barkeep, bring a round here for everyone. Its on Berek here."

SUBJ: Tralgo is in... FROM: Knightwind 08/03/90 S#: 500760

Chuckling at Belrek, Tralgo stands for his turn to speak. "Worthy comrades, for me it is either this job or the plow. I'm not too eager yet to sweat it out in the field of wheat. So, if you'll have me, I'll gladly join in your quest for Doom...er...the Sword of Doom ::said in a very deep hollow voice::."

"As for a leader, we Know very little of each others capabilities thus far. Belrek, however, has proven to be very adept at talking. I would nominate him for party spokesperson. As for sharing of spells.....first spells and then someone's gonna wanna wear my armor. Let's share, yes. But, please let's respect each others' professional equipment.... including spellbooks."

"Also, I would propose a name for our group. How does 'DoomQuesters' sound?"

SUBJ: Balamar FROM: Deslock 08/03/90 S#: 501341

"Call it what you will, leader or spokesperson, but the need is the same. Prolonged discussions over decisions are well and good while one is safe and secure, sipping on fine ale. In a critical situation, however, if we do not have someone to make quick decisions, then we shall not live very long in the frontier. We may argue about it afterwards, and may even replace the person, but someone must be there to make the decision. Belrek has shown he has a sense of humor, which may be the most important part of the job."

"On the issue of names, I'm not sure I'd like to tempt the deities with a name like Doomquesters. There are far too many of them who would see fit to toss some our way. Not that I have an alternative, mind you, I'm just a little wary of the one that's been suggested."

SUBJ: Eric (R) FROM: WitchDoc3 08/04/90 S#: 502256

Standing from the card table. "Balamar is right, we need to pick a leader now. Someone is going to have to make the critical decisions when the party is spit. I also cast my vote for belrek. If anyone has a better person in mind, speak up." I sit back down and continue examining the cards.

SUBJ: Carpathia FROM: Bad Girl5 08/04/90 S#: 502703

Noticing the Ace snagged under Witchdoc3's scarf, I thrust my Short sword into the table next to his hand. "Cheats are not wanted around here!": Standing up:::I for one do not care who thoust picks for the speaker. I have no preference..... I only want to have the thrill of adventure I once had flowing through my very veins. On with the Adventure!

SUBJ: Montagne de Gallant..... (R) FROM: Shaunnessy 08/04/90 S#: 503248

stands amidst the din of the ongoing conversation and clears his throat noisily. Gaining a brief second or two of silence from everyone he swiftly puts forth his plan in a strong clear voice. "Ladies, friends, fellow adventure seekers.... we DO have need of a singular spokesperson for the party now...and Belrek would seem a fine candidate for the position. The necessity of a PL shouldn't go unsolved either, yet we cannot judge the competency of ourselves and each other at this point. The very real danger of putting ourselves in the hands of some neophyte party leader whose inexperience could lead to indecision or worse must be considered as well." Montagne pauses to tilt the rim of his wine goblet up to his lips. Refreshed he continues..."What I suggest to you all now is that we split our rather large group in to four smaller units each containing equal parts of fighters, spell weavers, religious types and perhaps one overly endowed with the stealthier members of our bunch to form a scouting patrol. The task of appointing four at least temporary sub-leaders leaves us with a greater chance of managing...even if should someone be discovered as unsuitable for leadership. The four who command may make the major decisions between them, of course paying heed to the party's wishes when appropriate.

Montagne halts once again taking the time to look over everyone gathered around. He scrutinizes each member of the party carefully then begins anew his topic...

" As to the four subdivisions might I humbly suggest this set-up." Montagne quickly draws up a chart for all to see.

Group A (scouts) Leader: Balamar Belrek, Kein Galed, Perrel

Group B: Leader: Omni Tuens Eric, Jonathon, Merri

Group C: Leader: WhiteFlash, Argent, Cattella, Montagne, Tralgo

Group D: Leader: Arthnasis Berek, Carpathia, Tristan

Montagne holds up the sketchy display for everyone to see... "So my friends what do you think of this idea that I have set forth? While we talk it over let me take this time to arrange for more refreshments." So saying he moves away from the table with another grandiose flourish and heads off in pursuit of food and drink for the party.

SUBJ: Argent

Argent merely watches the goings on for a time.

'I agree, we should have an open spellbook policy. I see that there are a number of specialists in our band. While I have no great love of the Necromantic arts, I accept your explanation for such a pursuit, Jonathon.'

In my own book I carry, Read Magic, Magic Missile, Alarm, Detect Magic and Identify

I too agree that we need to name a leader. My vote would be for Balamar or Montagne. Balamar, while somewhat reserved, shows that he thinks thing out before speaking. Something a leader needs. Montagne is also well spoken and has good ideas. And he's so cute! ;)

GM Notes:

Sharadin smiles as Omni speaks to him.

"To tell the truth, I spent several years working as a warrior before discovery my aptitude to magic. I for one am not afraid to engage in sword play."

"I fear that my notes would be off little assistance. I've already told you all that I know of the Sword. I shall make a copy if you wish."

"Once Shea gets you organized, you could probably depart the day after next. You'll want to spend sometime preparing for your journey."

"We don't know the exact location of Kairn's Fortress, but we believe that it is around co-ordinates 28,22. That's a trip of about 350 miles through dangerous lands."

Spectrum's Comments: More of Sharadin's background is revealed in later Frontier posts. The coordinate system was part of a grid work map I made up for the game. I was part of the Game Files noted earlier in the post.

SUBJ: Perell... FROM: Count Kill 08/04/90 S#: 60036

Once Sharadin enters, I quickly gather the cards together again.

"Greetings fair wizard, I hope you did not mind us whiling away the wait with a game of cards? It was naught but a harmless diversion." I say with my warm smile.

After Sharadin has his say, and I listen to the others ideas, I speak up once more.

"I think this is a fine quest to undertake. More than worth our time and effort."

"But as to the election of a spokesperson, I'm not too certain. This person would be speaking for the whole party. We should be wise in our decision, and not hasty."

"Many fine ideas have been put forth by many of this assemblage. But, I say we could just leave the choice of our spokesperson to luck."

"There are 52 cards in this deck, if we each choose one, and then make the highest card our spokesperson."

"I know this sounds frivolous, but my god is one of luck, so in effect we would be leaving the decision in his hands. And would you find fault with a choice made by such a power?"

I then fan the cards out for everyone to choose one.

"Well, what say you all? Shall we leave it to a power higher than ourselves? Or shall we choose ourselves, knowing so little about each other?"

Spectrum's Comments: Seems like a natural way to decide things when you're dealing with a Priest of the Goddess of Luck.

SUBJ: "Pardon me, but... FROM: Kein Galed 08/04/90 S#: 505719

I'd like ta add a few words." Kein had remained silent as the other party members offered their various ideas.

"#1, I hope none here judge Johnathan too quickly. Whilst you may hold some second thoughts over his chosen field of study, his skills would be MOST useful to us during this quest. I say each of us has to prove our worth, and we would survive much longer with a small amount of trust.

#2, I say it matters not how we choose a spokesperson, after all it's not quite the same as a PL, now is it. We just want someone who can diplomatically express the desires and intentions of the party. We would still have a say in those decisions, the speaker would just be relaying that info to those we encounter! Knowing as little of each other as we now do, cutting cards or taking a party vote would be of equal risk.

#3, I think we all wish to accept this quest, I surely do. Grand adventures are not as often in the land as they once were. Besides, it may give me the chance to write our adventures into a new song, or ballad.

With those words said, Kein looks from man to woman, studying their faces for reactions. He awaits the party's decision.

Mail From: GM Kill Date: Saturday 4-Aug-90 23:39 EDT

About my Sword of Doom post... If Perell's suggestion is done, (Which is very doubtful.) he will close his eyes when he makes his pick. He intends to leave it entirely to luck, and not a marked deck. :)

SUBJ: Arathnasis FROM: Wildchilde 08/04/90 S#: 506764

"If I may have the honor of speaking for the group on this occasion, It appears O' wise Mage that we have decided to undertake your adventure in seeking the 'Sword of Doom'. I suggest that we prepare to depart forthwith, and all of the spellcaster begin to peruse each other's books as learning spells can be a long process. To the Quest!!!" ::Raises a drink::

As for party spokesperson anyone would be able to do the job, they would basically be used in matters where we are dealing with the Crown and will just be expressing the wishes of the group as a whole. I still believe that the choice of leader should not be filled until someone(s) has earned that position.

SUBJ: Tristan (R) FROM: FrankP25 08/05/90 S#: 397774

You see a fairly well built Half-Elf male waiting patiently. Out of the blue he speaks, " We should accept this mission. We should wait a short time to choose a spokesperson. Let's get outta here and get this sword."

After having spoke, Tristan falls back patiently waiting to leave.

SUBJ: Omni.... (R) FROM: Omni Tuens 08/05/90 S#: 442834

Omni listens carefully to the arguments waging around him concerning a party leader, then pauses a moment in thought before speaking.

"Friends, I'm afraid this discussion only makes what we must do clear. In the heat of battle there will be no time to debate tactics as we now debate authority. Like it or not, we must pick a party leader, or at least a system of command, and a vote would seem to me to be the best method available."

He then turns back to his discussion with Sharadin, speaking again:

"I must thank you for giving us this opportunity, Sharadin, and for your hospitality while we await the captain. It appears the vote is unanimous in one matter, at least; the challenge to recover the sword is accepted. And I must thank you once more, for any and all information concerning the sword that may be provided is appreciated. Now, I fear I have another favor to ask of you...might you have a map showing this dangerous terrain? I would like to take advantage of the opportunity to consider the routes through or around it as soon as possible...."

SUBJ: Eric (R) FROM: WitchDoc3 08/05/90 S#: 508238

Turns toward carpathia. "My dear a priest of Monard does not cheat, I found that card on the floor and was merely returning it to the deck."

He turns his attention to the party. "The idea of the sub groups is a good one, but we still need one person to make quick decision when the captains aren't agreed on an action. Granted they could vote, but do we really want to take that time in a critical situation? As for drawing a card from the deck, its as good as any, but, how about the ones who want to be in charge step forward and take a card, because personally have no desire to be leader."

Spectrum's Comments: Monard is the God of Wisdom, common sense and stuff like that.

SUBJ: Let me say this.... (R) FROM: WhiteFlash 08/05/90 S#: 508262

"I for one am flattered with Montage's proposal to be a group leader, but I have no desire to carve up this party. There is strength in numbers and only through strength shall we complete this quest!" ::Raises his mug with the party:: "To the QUEST!"

"Oh, Sharadin there was mention of additional gold with which to purchase equipment with......"

SUBJ: Montagne.... FROM: Shaunnessy 08/05/90 S#: 508539

strolls over to Argent and breathes in her ear...... "My Lady I thank for your most kind words this day. I find it quite an honor to be so highly regarded by one dedicated to higher learning and possessing a fine amount of womanly charms such as yourself. Should you ever have need or want of my keen blades or..." he pauses smiling widely " the company of my arms please do not hesitate to seek me out." He nods his head in an abbreviated bow then surges forward to the fore of the party. "Here! Here! A vote has been called for by the most noble Omni! Let us all put forth our measure and proclaim our opinions on this most important matter! Speak now or 'ever abide by the popular consensus of those who stand around you!" Montagne then offers his white plumed hat for use as a voting pot. To each balloter he offers a warm smile and nods as each proffers his or her choice.

Spectrum's Comments: Now that definitely got Argent's attention. Basically, she's a weak spellcaster right now. So, knowing she needs protection tries to have someone with combat skill look after her. And if he's handsome, so much the better!

SUBJ: Berek DemonSlayer FROM: AREION 08/05/90 S#: 510113

"HAHAHAHAHA!!! Friend Belrek, you and you alone may call me whatever ye wish!"

"I, for one, agree with Perell. How are we, who have never laid eyes on one another before, to choose who would make the best or even a suitable leader. In time, those with a talent for leadership will take to it naturally, but that does not solve our immediate need. I say let the fates decide. I understand the reservation some of you have expressed, but we are all relatively inexperienced, such feeling show that you understand the importance of the role and give it proper respect. I would prefer to follow one who expresses doubt and is cautious than a thrill seeker who would gladly see us all dead to satisfy his own thirst for adventure."

"Let us draw lots and leave the matter to a power greater than ourselves."

"As for a name, I too would be a bit weary of something as out rightly arrogant as 'DoomQuesters'. Better not to tempt the fates! We need something that carries a sense of humility before the gods as well as a hint of authority...How about 'The Chosen'?"

SUBJ: Argent

Argent blushes slightly as Montagne speaks to her. She gives him a wide grin as she responds.

'I'll remember that, kind sir. And I'll remember your interesting offer.'

'I agree that we need a leader, but the method of his or her selection matters not to me. Draw lots if you choose to. I shall not pick as I have no desire to lead.'

'I do have a few ideas upon a name. I for one don't want to be referred to as a 'Doomseeker'. I fail to find anything humble about 'The Chosen'. A tad presumptuous, wouldn't you say Berek? How about something a little less specific? Say, 'Company of the Sword' or 'Band of the Sword'. Surely no one could be offend by either of those.'

Having said her piece, Argent will locate the other mages in the group.

'Well guys, if we're going to share spells, your going to have say which ones you got!'

Spectrum's Comments: These guys needed a little help in coming up with a group name. Company of the Sword seemed to fit the bill nicely.

GM Notes:

If you decide to draw cards, here's how it will work. I have a shuffled deck of cards already. Pick the numbered card that you want between 1 and 52. The result of that card will be sent via E-Mail to the picker, who in turn can post his result.

"As adventurers if the Crown", Sharadin says, "You will be given a headquarters here in Gateway. An expense account will be set up in your groups' name. A total of 100 gp's per group member will be put into your account at the start. Your journey is a long one and more than likely you'll be using that money for mounts."

Sharadin reaches into his robe and produces a piece of paper.

"I figured that you'd be asking for a map. Fortunately, an old main road of the Empire leads you most of the way to Kairn's Fortress. Several towns and villages lie along the way. This may not be the shortest, nor the safest trail to follow, but it should be the fastest."

For you map makers, here are the coordinates for the road. Place a dot at each coordinate and then connect them when finished.

2/1, 3/2, 5/3, 11/3, 15/6, 17/8, 18/11, 22/15, 22/20, 23/21, 25/22.

Places for villages and towns:

11/3- Gerald's Fort

17/8- Waypoint

22/15- Throm

25/22- Northending

The fortress should be 30 miles north of Northending.

SUBJ: "The Chosen, (R) FROM: AM0K 08/05/90 S#: 510497

I like the sound of that." Kein nods to Berek, "tis a good name."

"Another good idea was mentioned, let those who wish to wear the mantle of authority step forward, and draw a card from the deck. The high card would then be our spokesperson. It's as good a method of selection as could be had, at the moment. I have not the desire for leadership; it's a heavy burden to bear. So, if ye wish it, be certain in your hearts that ye can endure it!"

Again Kein awaits the party's response.

SUBJ: Tralgo FROM: Knightwind 08/05/90 S#: 512008

Well, friends, it would seem that we are all agreed now on two points. #1- we will take the quest. #2 we must have a leader (spokesperson). I see no reason not to let chance take a hand in the determination of our leader.

I do, however, agree with Montagne that we should devise a sub party system. The four captains could answer to a single leader. This idea also leads to some significant tactical advantages, such as preplanned traveling and battle formations. It would also preclude the entire party being wiped out by a single misfortune. This does not mean that we are going to split the party up, only make it more manageable. Also, I have heard several nominations for party leader, but no volunteer. With that, Tralgo steps forward to draw a card.

SUBJ: Omni once more.... (R) FROM: Omni Tuens 08/06/90 S#: 49465

"Friends, I humbly admit that I have no way of judging the depth of character of those of you that surround me, nor a way to measure one's ability to lead. However, I feel that it would be extremely foolish to leave our fate in the hands of a marked deck of cards. Once more, I suggest a vote for the position; being elected does not require that one take the position of leader. In my eyes, this would be infinitely better than mere trusting the choice to mere 'luck'."

With this, he turns back to Sharadin and the map that he has produced.

"It seems I have cause to thank you once more, noble mage. I am in your debt."

He then proceeds to look over the map that has been provided, considering the towns that are shown on it, and wondering as to their current state.

SUBJ: Balamar FROM: Deslock 08/06/90 S#: 515959

"I'm not sure I understand the hesitancy of some to choose a leader. We are not picking an emperor nor a dictator. True, we do not yet know each other's measure, but if we decide we don't like the leader we choose, then we can simply pick another. We are not locked into whatever decision we make at this time."

"On another note, I think I like the name 'Company of the Sword' the most, of those put forward thus far."

With the money provided by the crown, I'll pick up a riding horse along with saddle blanket, riding saddle, bit and bridle, halter, 2 large saddlebags, a feedbag, and some feed for the journey.

SUBJ: Once all those... FROM: Count Kill 08/06/90 S#: 445362

That are going to draw, actually do so, I make my pick.

"Now we shall see who the fates have chosen..."

SUBJ: Balamar (R) FROM: Deslock 08/07/90 S#: 519829

"I will not participate in such a farce, nor will I follow one chosen in so ludicrous a manner. Why don't we just go out into the street and grab the first person we see and make them our leader? Makes as much sense as drawing cards."

SUBJ: Kein Galed... (R) FROM: AM0K 08/07/90 S#: 448060

"I can not believe we are havin so much trouble just deciding on HOW to pick a spokesperson! This is getting pretty silly! Drawing a card from a deck is no riskier than selecting a total stranger from our own midst. How about if we ALL draw a card, and if the one with the high card does not wish to lead, he or she may choose a leader from our ranks! Lets just make a bloody decision, and get on with it!!!

Kein then stands straight and folds his arms over his chest. He glares at party members, as if trying to will them into some sort of action. His impatience is clearly shown to all.

SUBJ: Berek Demonslayer FROM: AREION 08/07/90 S#: 396122

"All I find ludicrous, Balamar, is you arrogant manner. Perhaps you don't believe that there could possibly be anything beyond your comprehension or control, but most of us don't share your ideals."

Stepping up to the deck, Berek Demonslayer glares hotly at the malcontent Balamar before choosing his card...No. 13

SUBJ: O.K People..... FROM: WhiteFlash 08/08/90 S#: 44635

"Let this nonsense cease! It is clear to me that no person will make their voice herd in an open or even closed vote, so the drawing of cards seems the only way to choose a 'Leader'."

With this said he steps forward and draws card # 35.

Glaring coldly at the Gnome "If you do not wish to honor the 'Leader' chosen in this manner you may stay behind little one!"

With the 100 gp I purchase a Riding Horse, Riding Saddle, Saddle Blanket, Bit and Bridle, one set Small Saddle Bags, Feed for the Horse.

SUBJ: "Look all..." (R) FROM: GM Kill 08/08/90 S#: 901

Perell says. "This isn't like we're choosing the fate of the world, only of this small band. And even then, we're not setting anything in stone. We can always change things later if they need to be changed."

"But, we know so little about each other, that this is the best way to do this, rather than stand here and argue each others merits until we're blue in the face."

"Fine, if some of you have misgivings about this, that's understandable. But, we're going to have to work together in this, not attack each other."

With that I flip over my card and reveal the Jack of Hearts.

"Hmmm..." I say thoughtfully as I look at my card and the cards drawn by the others.

SUBJ: Eric (R) FROM: WitchDoc3 08/08/90 S#: 522508

"This is getting pretty silly everyone, if we don't like the leader that is chosen by the cards then we will just change. Maybe by that time we will know each other better, and can make a better decision. But lets get this over with so we can go."

::Walks back to seat, stops, then looks toward group::

"I myself will not draw a card because I don't want to be leader, but, I of course, will go with fates decision."

With my 100gp I will buy, a riding horse, saddle, saddle bags, and horse feed.

SUBJ: Omni (R) FROM: Omni Tuens 08/08/90 S#: 522572

"I agree, Eric. It is time to stop the quarrel, and take a step towards the sword. However, I was not raised to let chaos reign. Indeed, every nerve inside me rebels at the thought of following one who took leadership by winning a card game. I believe that 'drawing' for it is definitely the wrong manner, and I assure you, I feel no doubts in this. I don't know how the rest of you feel, but my mind simply cannot be changed; I will not follow a leader whose only credentials are his gambling talents."

After saying this, Omni turns to Sharadin once more.

"Thank you for all you have given us, noble mage. I am not aware if the Crown is prepared to support two separate ventures or not, but I will simply not follow one chosen in this manner, and I do intend to seek the Sword of Doom, as I had told you I would do; with my honor at stake, I would not back out on such an agreement."

With this, Omni Tuens finally sits down in a chair, leaning forward and toying with the ring that lies on his finger, waiting to see which of his comrades see the wisdom in his arguments.

As for the gold, I'll declare nothing to be purchased.... yet. Seeing as the party IS in the employment of the Crown, and there IS to be a large number of horses purchased, I think it best to wait and see if any discount prices can be struck.

SUBJ: Balamar (R) FROM: Deslock 08/08/90 S#: 522975

"I don't see why those of you who are so anxious to let fate decide all are so anxious to go anywhere. If you trust to luck so, why not leave it to luck that no evil creature will find the sword?"

I'll head over to Omni for a private talk.

"Omni, I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who finds the deck method objectionable. On the other hand, I'm not sure forming another group is the right answer. I fully intend to go on this mission; it's too important to leave to chance, or those who are overly reliant on it."

SUBJ: Tralgo selects....... (R) FROM: Knightwind 08/08/90 S#: 19705

It matters not to me at this point who leads the party, only that we can all agree on this leader. Choosing lots via a deck of cards is one method. The other suggested method has been to cast a vote. So far, Nominations for that vote have been, Montagne, Belrek, and Berek.

If we are going to allow a vote, then let us set a closing date for nominations. Since everyone seems to be keeping up fairly regularly, let's close said nominations at midnight on 8/10. As for the cards......Tralgo reveals card #26 to be the 3 of diamonds.

SUBJ: *Ever* FROM: Ever 08/08/90 S#: 517142

Amidst all the chaos, unknown to all, in to the room slips a slight figure. Rather attractive in a waifish way, she stands off to the side mulling over the ensuing arguments, and what she could do to rectify the problem being presented.

A slight frown crossed her brow as she wondered if she had in fact been brought to the right meeting. Surely these scabbing, indecisive morons were not to be the ones that the Crown had picked to represent them in their dealings?!

She stuck her full, lower lip out and exhaled sharply, causing the slight bangs on her forehead to blow away from her face. Tugging on her blond braid she made up her mind.

She crossed to the center of the room and with an apologetic smile directed at the mage in charge of this mayhem, lithely jumped upon the center table. Standing in the middle, hands upon hips, she surveyed all those present, with a slight frown of disgust marring her forehead...

"Excuse me.... Mayhaps, I may be but one to offer some assistance in thy divining upon the matter of the party leader?" Her speech was somewhat stilted, as if she was unused to talking, but the voice was one that rang throughout the room, compelling all to listen.

The derisive expression upon her face turned to smugness when after a short pause, ensuring she had everyone's attention, she said.

"Karma."

"Aura."

"If you will allow me, I shall read each of your auras and tell you who would be best fit to lead our merry band of warriors."

With a beaming smile she asked the question," Who shall be the first to lay upon this table, and bare their shades and hues to me? Allow me to gather thy colors unto me and bury myself into your karma!"

While waiting for the party's reply, she dragged a bag up on to the table beside her. Digging into the bag, she pulled out a bit of leather armor. She glanced around at the party again, and smiled, and introduced herself proper, "Ever, Langnickle Ever tis I, Ever to thee. Now, after we resolve this, conflict wouldst anyone care to assist me in donning mine armor? I know not how to wear any...."

Spectrum's Comments: Now there is a lady who knows how to make an entrance!

SUBJ: Arathnasis FROM: Wildchilde 08/08/90 S#: 40326

"I will assist thee M'lady, as you are to be one of our band you must be prepared. If it is Aura you wish to read I offer you my hands, I may not be the best source of leadership, but I have nothing to hide!"

With that I will place my hand upon the table.

---------------------------------------

-For those drawing cards and those who don't believe it to be the right way of choosing a leader remember that we are only choosing a spokesperson and eventually those with the potential to lead will show themselves in battle, the only purpose that the chosen person will serve is that of a "mouthpiece" for the group, nothing more, nothing less.

SUBJ: Montagne..... FROM: Shaunnessy 08/09/90 S#: 460631

sighs dramatically as he steps forward towards the deck. As his hand hovers over the cards his mouth curls in an odd twist and he spins to face the assemblage... "I see that some of you are willing to trust to Fate while others prefer a more ordered manner of selection. Neither faction has been successful in attaining this important goal of choosing a leader. So.....I ask you all...for those who support Fate's choice...why not trust even more in said entity and follow my lead?? For those of you who seek a structured method.....if anyone objects to my nomination then let them speak out now!"

Montagne stands before the party gazing at them each in turn noting their reactions as he awaits their numerous and certainly varied replies.

**************************************

Regardless of the outcome Montagne will supplement his own monies with the Crown's generous aid and purchase a light warhorse, 2 lg saddlebags, 2 wks rations, 2 boot knives(stilettos), 2 wineskins, 1 bullseye lantern, 10 flasks of lamp oil and flint& steel.

Spectrum's Comments: And so the debate goes. Just who will lead the Company of the Sword? Will they actually go out and adventure or just spin their wheels a bit longer? Stay tuned!
