Sword of Doom # 37 - 39

Spectrum's Comments: Having reached Karn's Keep, the Company finds it not abandoned. A pair calling themselves Corley and Ariel are there. They claim to have simply taken refuge in the fortress during a storm. However, they appear to have innate magical abilities, charming Crandor right before the Companies eyes. Corley has changed himself to look like Crandor. And now the fun begins!

Sword of Doom # 37

Corley/Crandor approaches Arathnasis' hiding spot. Once he passes, Arath attacks from the rear. He bonks Corley over the head.

The man turns, his face red from rage. "I'll kill you!!", he shouts.

Corley/Crandor hits Arath with his short sword. Eliza stalks in from the rear and strikes with her broadsword. Her aim is true and Corley takes another wound.

Arathnasis and Eliza both hit again, further wounding the disguised Corley. After the last hit, Corley shrieks in pain and rage. His form wavers and shifts. The image of Crandor is gone, but it is not quite replaced by the image of Corley. Standing before the pair now is something like what Corley looks like, however, his torso and legs are now that of a giant serpent!!

(Human above the waist, snake below.)

"I'll kill you all!!", he hisses.

Before they can get used to this new form, the pair see Corley expand and now there are 5 of him!

Meanwhile in the Grand Hall, the rest of the Company awaits the arrival of the disguised Crandor. After a few moments, they hear the sounds of combat and shouting from the hallway leading to the kitchen.

As they move closer to investigate, you hear words being spoken elsewhere in the room. Looking around, you see Ariel on the balcony on the west side of the room. (You currently on the east side of the room.)

She completes casting of a spell and a bolt of fire comes from her hand. It strikes Omni, burning him, but not too badly.

"Welcome to our lair. Nice of you to become our dinner!"

Her evil laugh fills the Grand Hall.

SUBJ: Arathnasis (R) FROM: Wildchilde 04/04/91 S#: 448423

Arath swings his sword at the beast in the middle. "Die foul creature!"

SUBJ: Tristan (R) FROM: FrankP25 04/04/91 S#: 444838

Sorry about not posting earlier, been very busy and out of town.

I will attack as soon as possible.

SUBJ: Perrel... FROM: GM Kill 04/04/91 S#: 474614

"It's not all that dreadful." I say when Schar comments on Eyescratch poker. "It's just back when this game was first created, supposedly one man lost everything he owned in a game of it, and scratched his eyes out as punishment."

"If we scratched each others eyes out, it would certainly cut down on the number of times you can play the game." I say with a smile.

"So, who wants to learn?" I ask just as Omni returns to tell us about Corley posing as Crandor.

"I thought it strange that Crandor was being friendly. Guess taking over his mind is the only way he'll ever be nice."

"Oh well, shall we prepare for Corley." I say just before we hear all the combat noises. "Of course, we could always jump right in."

I start to move in that direction, but I stop when I see Omni flash fried. Quickly I turn, and see Ariel standing on the balcony sneering at us.

"Ah well, who said life would ever be easy?" I say, before I start casting a spell in her direction.

I'll cast a Silence 15' radius at her first, and if that doesn't work, I'll try a Hold Person.

If the Silence does work, I'll move forward, stopping halfway there to throw a couple of stilettos at her.

If it looks like she's going to throw something my way, I'll go into a tumble if possible.

"My Lady Tymora, protect us all, and watch over Schar." I say softly while moving forward.

SUBJ: Johnathan (R) FROM: Stretch611 04/05/91 S#: 795057

I will be ready for the trap. I don't agree that taking someone evil alive but I will accept the call of the leaders. Once the multi figures appear I will cast magic missile, one missile per form. If I hit illusions it will cause them to blank out. Then I will cast chromatic orb and if I have a good shot at another image will hit it if not hit the woman. Then ghoul touch and go into melee with any evil creature. When ghoul touch ends, chill touch then fight to the death.

SUBJ: Johnathan cont. FROM: Stretch611 04/05/91 S#: 801634

Every third round use wand of magic missiles to destroy any remaining images. If two or more party members go down, use the wand until the evil is destroyed.

SUBJ: Omni FROM: Omni Tuens 04/05/91 S#: 440429

"That sounds like combat...we better go ahead and help the-"

Skeeerack!!!!!! Omni's words are interrupted as a flaming missile slams into him. "It's her....I forgot about Ariel!! The witch is about to get hers..."

Omni then breaks into a run for the staircase (God, I hope my map is right) determined to reach the mage and enraged by being taken by surprise. He'll CHARGE until he reaches her if possible. (Increase movement by 50%).

The fighter has obviously taken this personally, as he doesn't slow down enough to instruct anyone else.

SUBJ: Drakkor FROM: Troll 3a 04/06/91 S#: 519132

I will run at the forms and attack the closes to me until I cannot attack any more!

SUBJ: Schar FROM: Schar 04/06/91 S#: 422177

Seeing the attack on Omni, I run to a spot of safety.

"Spread out! Who knows what evil magic she has at her command!!"

Seeing everyone rush the woman, I stay back and prepare my Hold spell. If I can cast it before anyone else reaches her I shall do so.

Otherwise, I hold my spells unless someone is in need of Aid or a Slow Poison. I draw my mace to defend myself in case of attack.

SUBJ: Selarin FROM: GrooToo 04/06/91 S#: 517716

As the fiery bursts of magic hit Omni and the sounds of battle ring in my ears I'll step over to get a clear shot at that witch. As I move into position I pray " Lady Luck bless me with your eternal favor and let my arrows strike swiftly!" Then I'll draw my bow and fire my arrows in this manner 2 normal then 1 magic until I don't have a shot or I run out of arrows. If the first is true I'll draw my mace and close putting my other hand on the ice/crystal dagger I found. Maybe it will do something more powerful to the witch.

Selarin

RE: Sword of Doom

I didn't post it at the time, because it wouldn't really fit into the flow of the post that well...and would like downright inappropriate. But I wanted to go ahead and tell you. When and if Omni reaches the mage on the balcony... She's going over the balcony. Even if that means he goes with her. You can't beat a spellcaster you can't reach. But one that's grounded, on the other hand...

Spectrum's Comments: Does anyone have the suspicion that Omni is going to get his wish?

SUBJ: Mastiff FROM: Mastiff1 04/07/91 S#: 394384

After seeing Omni hit, Mastiff will move for cover. Making sure Ashes in with me.

*Hostile isn't she Ashes?*

**Yes, she is**

Once behind cover, Mastiff will cast *Shield* on himself, and defend himself with shortsword.

SUBJ: Argent FROM: Enchantres 04/08/91 S#: 804115

Seeing everyone go after Ariel, I'll go and see where the sounds of combat are coming from. Seeing Arath and Eliza attacking this thing I hesitantly move closer. When I get an opening, I'll hit it with my Color Spray. After that, I'll hang back and use my staff when the opportunity presents itself.

SUBJ: Eliza FROM: Zynara 04/09/91 S#: 497742

(Mad? Didn't I drink my potion of speed before combat? I thought I had said I would. Well, if I hadn't, I will as soon as possible.)

Eliza watches as the thing transforms. Suddenly I realize that this is a creature of magic, I attack with renewed determination.

'I must protect Arath! Omni said watch over him. I must be sure he lives or Omni will question my honor!'

If Arath attempts to retreat, I will make sure I am in the creatures way so that it can't follow. Once Arath is away, then I will try to cause as much damage as I can before I die. I will not run from an enemy. It will cause a loss of face.

If Arath goes down, I will let all my anger go and attack to kill without thought of personal safety.

Sword of Doom # 38

Corley and Ariel have revealed themselves to being something more then human. Ariel blasted Omni with a Flame Arrow, while Corley combats Eliza and Arathnasis.

Eliza feels a tingling in her body as she feels the Speed Potion taking effect. She swings her broadsword at the Mirror Imaged Corley. Eliza strikes twice and two of the images disappear.

Arathnasis swings at the middle image and it also disappears.

Corley mumbles some magic words, Arath, using Spellcraft, sees that it is a Shocking Grasp spell, and leaps at Eliza. He touches her and she is shocked.

In the Grand Hall, the rest of the Company goes to the attack against Ariel.

Ariel gets a Sleep spell off before the group can move too far. Drakkor falls to sleep.

Omni runs across the Hall and begins to climb the spiral stairs.

Jonathon casts Magic Missile and two missiles strike Ariel. Perrel follows this up with Silence 15' Radius and Ariel goes quiet. Schar's Hold Person appears to have no effect.

Mastiff forms a Shield to protect himself. Selarin fires two arrows, both hitting Ariel. She screams, but there is no sound. Tristan also fires two arrows, but misses.

Argent goes to investigate the other fighting.

The Hasted Eliza strikes again. The last image fades and her broadsword finally hits flesh.

Corley retaliates, striking Eliza with his short sword. Arathnasis misses with his Longsword.

Argent appears out of nowhere and hits Corley with a Color Spray. He slithers in place, looking dazed.

Once more, back in the Hall, Schar tries to wake up Drakkor.

Jonathon misses Ariel with a Chromatic Orb. Perrel misses with both daggers, but Tristan lands one arrow.

Omni finally reaches the balcony. Ariel is waiting for him. She has shifted into something similar to Corley. (Human torso, snake body.)

Ariel strikes Omni with her hand. It does no damage, but he does feel a strange draining sensation.

Omni grabs Ariel and they struggle. Her lower snake body wraps around him. Before everyone's horrified eyes, the pair goes over the balcony!!

Dazed, Corley is easy prey for Eliza and Arathnasis. He dies quickly, retaining the half-man/half-snake form.

Omni and Ariel land in a silent pile. Both are still alive.

In silent rage, Ariel leaps at Omni but misses.

Tristan and Perrel rush to aid Omni. Tristan drives both his blades into Ariel. Perrel's rapier settles the issue.

Corley and Ariel are both dead, however the charmed Crandor is still in the kitchen.

"Well, it looks like they're taken care of. What's next Omni?"

I will look around for anything and if time permits, heal anyone that needs it or requests it.

SUBJ: Arathnasis FROM: Wildchilde 04/11/91 S#: 494750

Arath tries to scream a warning to Eliza as Corley casts the shocking grasp but the words come to slowly.

He flies into a fury and begins to swing wildly, missing wildly. Then the beast seems to be confused Arath turns to see Argent just done casting Color spray at the beast. With a wink to Argent he moves in for the kill.

Later to Eliza "Thank you for your help, I am only sorry that I could not save you from the beasts spell." Grabs her hand and lightly kisses it::" I am in your debt."

To Argent "You seem to have yet again saved the day. I appreciate the help, I am in your debt, if there is ever anything I can do, feel free to ask"

SUBJ: Omni FROM: Omni Tuens 04/12/91 S#: 500991

"I'll teach you to mess with us, hag!"

Omni reaches the balcony, realizing at the same time that Ariel is beyond the reach of most of the party. Thinking that it would be easier to fight her on the floor, he decides she is going for a ride. Instead of attacking with his sword, the fighter lunges forward to grapple with the 'woman'.

Unfortunately, things don't go as planned.

THUD!! Omni sits up with a groan and a spinning head, finding thankfully that the rest of the party has already finished their opponent. He rises to his feet, making sure he didn't break anything...too badly, anyways.

"Good work, everyone. Anyone hurt? Everyone go ahead and look around to make sure there aren't any more of them, and to check for treasure. Only no one go alone, and stay clear of the kitchen until we find a way to restore Crandor."

With this said, Omni rubs his head ruefully, still feeling strangely disoriented. "Maybe that wasn't the wisest thing to do..."

(Yes, for those of you with a Monstrous Compendium, that *IS* a bad pun. And yes, I *DID* plan it that way. Honest.)

SUBJ: Eliza (R) FROM: Zynara 04/12/91 S#: 488838

Through out the fight, my only thought is to protect Arath. When the creature stands dazed, I take full advantage of the situation and help finish it off.

When Arath starts thanking me, I hold up my hand to silence him and wave to Argent. "You two stay here and make sure this thing doesn't get back up. Remember. We have one more of these things around here. I am going to run back to the group."

With that, I use what is left of my hasted state to run back to the rest of the group. Finding them taking care of their injured, I quickly move to Omni.

"My Lord. The other creature is dead. Arath and Argent are standing over it to ensure it stays that way. Our comrade is still in the kitchen as far as I know. Might I suggest those that can, return with me so we can rescue him?"

I will wait for Omni to give the order to return. As I wait, I realize I still have out my broadsword and it is being held in an offensive manor. I quickly move the blade so it isn't threatening and lower my head in the shame of threatening my lord.

SUBJ: Perrel... (R) FROM: Count Kill 04/13/91 S#: 468377

I watch in horror as Ariel and Omni go over the edge, silently praying that Tymora's blessing is with Omni, and breathing a sigh of relief when I see that it is.

I quickly move over and finish Ariel off, speaking as I do. "Luck is not with you today, I am very glad to say."

Once Ariel's finished, I'll move over to Omni and see how badly injured he is, seeing the severity of the wounds, I quicky cast my 2 CLW's on him.

"There, how's that feel?" I ask him. "And be glad Tymora's blessing was with you today, that could've been a lethal fall otherwise."

When the subject of Crandor is brought up, I think for a moment, before smiling widely.

SUBJ: Perrel cont... FROM: Count Kill 04/13/91 S#: 523305

"According to Argent, he's been told to slay any who enter the kitchen, so the answer is simple."

"He's just charmed, not mind controlled, and that solves the problem."

With that, I walk over towards the kitchen, pausing momentarily to see how the ones who fought Corley are doing.

I stop outside the doorway, and yell real loudly.

"Hey Crandor, come out here, Omni wants to talk to you!" Then I stand and wait for Crandor to come out.

"Of course, little does he know, that he's going to have to wait on us until the spell breaks." I say to myself amusedly. "I wonder if he's a good cook? I hope so."

Spectrum's Comments: Perrel seems to be enjoying Crandor's charmed state just a bit too much. :D

SUBJ: Selarin FROM: GrooToo 04/14/91 S#: 820000

As my arrows blast home and the witch screams I smile knowing that she's not going to cast any more spells any time soon. As the battle continues I slide my bow away and draw my mace. As it concludes I put my mace away and see to the wounded." Darn it Omni, a swan dive off the balcony was NOT a good idea." Quickly casting CLW on Omni and Aranth I listen as the situation is outlined then" See I told you not to believe that "Trapped" flap, as for Crandor somebody throw a sleep spell on him or something, Ya know? That gets him out of our hair without harming him. If we can't do that then lets just wait. In the meanwhile I'll search the bodies." Then I'll go and search the bodies watching for poison buckles or pins ect. Anything interesting I'll pocket for now until we get into the kitchen at least.

SUBJ: GM Notes (R) FROM: GM Mad 04/14/91 S#: 422381

Perrel, Selarin, and Tristan heal Omni as best they can. He is now 46 of 51. Selarin also heals Arathnasis when he returns. Arath is now 14 of 15. A quick examination of the Fortress reveals that you appear to be the only ones here.

Perrel tests his theory and shouts to Crandor. Crandor responds and comes towards him. (He was told only to kill those who enter the kitchen. Nothing was said about him staying in there and that he could not leave.) He is still charmed, however.

Also, this post will close at Midnight Tuesday, 1 day early this week. New post will be up on Wednesday.

SUBJ: Schar (R) FROM: Schar 04/14/91 S#: 520785

"Omni!! Are you mad!!"

I shout as Omni goes diving. I rush to his side to see if he is okay. I feel so helpless without having any healing magic available to me. Fortunately, Ariel goes down.

"Well struck, Perrel. I believe the wench got your point!" ;D

SUBJ: Argent FROM: Enchantres 04/14/91 S#: 467341

'You're welcomed, Arath. Pleased to be of assistance.'

When Eliza instructs us to remain here, I comply.

On the subject of Crandor.

'From what my mentor taught me of charm spells, the victim can usually break the charm himself. There are other methods of breaking it of course.'

Once Crandor is out of the kitchen and assuming that it is safe to enter, I will offer the following.

'I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm hunrgy. I'm pretty hand with a fry pan, so if no one objects I'll whip up a real meal for us all!'

I'll then proceed to locate the cookery, what food is currently in storage, etc.

>Praying I make my skill roll! ;)<

SUBJ: Perrel.... FROM: GM Kill 04/14/91 S#: 819698

When Argent starts for the kitchen, I fling myself in her way.

"Um...you told us that Crandor was charmed to slay any who entered the kitchen. He's still charmed, if you go in there, he will try to slay you, and then we will have to fight him."

"If you're hungry, wait until we have him somewhere away from that kitchen, so he can't see anyone going in there. Okay?"

With that I'll lead Crandor to Omni, and when we get there, I'll whisper in Omni's ear.

"Omni, why don't we put Crandor on perimeter watch. So, he can watch for anyone coming, and so we can fix some food for everyone without him trying to kill the chef?"

SUBJ: Johnathan FROM: Stretch611 04/15/91 S#: 790803

I thank you all; we did well in the fight vs. evil. Together we will prevail I think. But I grow overcautious and will have to do better. As far as the charm, the victim can usually recover on their own. It usually based on the intelligence of the victim; so I guess it may be a while.... a slight smile is seen on Jonathans face, a sight few can say they ever seen before. I apologize for the slight jest. But I could not resist.

SUBJ: Omni (R) FROM: Omni Tuens 04/16/91 S#: 820344

Omni starts to protest as the clerics bombard him in healing spells, but his words come too late.

"Please...save some for the others that were hurt...like...Zynara!" He says as she walks into the room. He listens to her excited report, and then tries to calm her down. "Slow down...you did a good job, but you're hurt. I don't think Crandor will go anywhere."

Omni is glad to see that Perrel was able to get Crandor out of the kitchen without any butchering, but isn't so sure as to what to do with him. "Let's see if there isn't some way to get him out of the spell's grasp before we assign him the trivial duties."

SUBJ: Out of Character FROM: Omni Tuens 04/16/91 S#: 811597

Guess who the new PC is?

Night falls on Kairn's Fortress. Corley and Ariel have gone the way of the sword and will bother you no longer. The Keep appears to be deserted.

Selarin searches both bodies, but finds nothing of value.

With Crandor out minding the horses, Argent sets herself to the task of making a meal. She finds the kitchen to be very well stocked and proceeds to work.

She discovers a locked chest hidden in one of the cabinets. It is not locked or trapped. Inside are 4 spellbooks, a sack of gold and a crystal dagger that is a perfect match for the one Selarin found earlier.

Argent is a last ready to serve. Her meal is truly magnificent. The best food that many of you have ever eaten! (Aced her skill roll.)

With the late hour, you decide to rest for the night before continuing to explore. The Company rests in the large barracks room next to the kitchen. Everyone is careful to avoiding going into the kitchen with Crandor around. Next morning, many of the spell casters are delighted to discover that they can learn more spells!

Mastiff and Argent swap a few spells.

After breakfast, the Company prepares to explore the Keep when the front door slowly opens. (It seems no one bothered to lower the gate yesterday. ;>)

A male half-elf stumbles in. He is bruised and battered. It appears that he got the worst of a fight.

(I'll let him tell you his story.)

Now what?? And Crandor is still charmed...

SUBJ: Argent (R) FROM: Enchantres 04/17/91 S#: 456527

Argent is insufferable pleased with herself seeing how the meal turned out. I can be heard muttering 'Can I cook, or what?' frequently. :D

Before joining the others to eat, I quickly change into my spare dress. My current one has seen a great deal of excitement and is dirty.

Finding the spellbooks also excites me to no end!

'Arath! Jon! Mastiff! I've got a surprise for you all!'

At the first opportunity, I'll try to learn Change Self, Gaze Reflection, Feather Fall, Reduce, Detect Invisibility, Blur, Improved Phant. Force and Continual Light.

Next morning I memorize the following: Magic Missile, Detect Magic, Read Magic, Identify, Web and Knock*2.

After eating, I approach Arath.

'Would you like to accompany me? I'm going to see what is behind that door no one could open. My guess that it is where the mages of this keep worked. I'm figuring that the door is Wizard Locked. >Hence, the 2 Knocks.<'

I'll also ask if any others wish to come along.

Spectrum's Comments: Anyone think that Argent's curiosity is going to land her in trouble?

SUBJ: Schar FROM: Schar 04/17/91 S#: 411871

"That was delicious, Argent. Your talents extend past spellcraft! Let me help you clean his mess up."

Next morning, I found that Azrella in her infinite wisdom has granted me more spells. I rush to the temple and knell before her altar. Tears are in my eyes.

"Oh, thank you, Azrella! Thank you! I shall continue to do your holy work in this troubled land. I shall not forget my vows. I shall serve you faithfully."

I'm so happy that I give Perrel a big hug when I see him.

Having recovered from this surprise, I approach Omni before praying for my spells.

"Sir Omni, Azrella has granted me many new magicks. Among them is the ability to speak with those who have died. You could question with Ariel or Corley. Do you desire me to learn this spell?"

Here is my spell list:

1st Level: CLW*3, Detect Magic, Protection from Evil

2nd Level: Augury, Aid, Chant, Hold Person, Slow Poison

3rd Level: Dispel Magic, Speak with Dead. (If Omni does not wish for me to pray for this spell, then I will take a second Dispel Magic.)

After receiving my spells, I will seek out Eliza.

"Allow me to heal you, Eliza. There may be more threats in this Keep and we will need you at full strength."

If she agrees, I'll cast 2 CLW's on her. I'll next seek out Crandor and try to Dispel the Charm. If I took a Speak with Dead, then I will wait until Omni is ready for me to use it.

When the stranger appears and I see his condition, I rush towards him.

"You are hurt?! Let me help you."

I'll proceed to bandage him and clean his wounds. If he looks in bad enough shape to need a CLW, I'll use one.

SUBJ: Arathnasis (R) FROM: Wildchilde 04/18/91 S#: 408556

Arath Enjoys the Meal savoring every bite. as he lays for the night he attempts to learn Web from the spell books. Assuming he does memorized spells Web, Burning hands, Magic Missile

to Argent. "I would love to accompany you." With that Arath gathers he equipment and follows the mage.

SUBJ: Selarin (R) FROM: GrooToo 04/18/91 S#: 822741

As the morning comes and I awake I feel Tymora's blessing upon me. I change and go to the shrine and pray to her " Tymora, Goddess of luck thank you for your continued favor upon this your servant!" I continue to pray asking for Clw*2,(which I expended healing Arath and the others) and for the new symbols of her favor, silence 15' radius and hold person. Later upon finishing the excellent meal furnished by Argent, I hurry to see what has brought the wounded stranger into our midst." Be at rest good sir, you are among friends! My name is Selarin, servant of Tymora and rogue of no small ability. What has happened to you to be as you are?". Later after hearing his story I will join Argent on her search with Arath and Schar. As I join them I ask " Arath could you when we get a moment show me how to use this longsword I have acquired? I am now ready to train with it and you seem to know much about blades." Turning to Argent " What do you think of these strange blades (showing her my crystal dagger I acquired in the armory) could they be an important clue to the mystery? I think that is most likely considering how much they look like the one in the tapestry. What do you think?" Of course I await Arath's answer before addressing Argent so that I can listen to both of them in turn.

Selarin

I would like to add longsword to my weapon proficiency and ventriloquism and ancient history to my non-weapon prof's ok GM Mad?

As I the half-elven man enters the castle, you notice his eyes are downcast and tears role down his cheeks. As he gets closer, he realizes that he has company. His eyes are bloodshot, but he quickly spins his Q. Staff in a menacing manner. When the clerics and other come forward with welcoming hands he falls to the ground, exhausted. (If others help him with spells or healing skills, he will wake up quicker)

After awaking, he seems surprised that you have not harmed him. He sits, up and you now have a better look at him. He is a half-elf, or a very graceful man, with long brown hair with some blond, and deep blue eyes.

"Maybe Mystra has not forsaken me."

To any one who healed or helped him: "Thank you, I now know I am safe."

"Only a few days ago I was with my fellow priests and wizards of Mystra, exiled from my elven village for turning our backs on the elven gods, which in truth we did not do. We were traveling to a city of men at the outer reaches of the civilized lands to tell others of our faith, and brother and sisterhood. But, along the journey, we were attacked by beasts so vile, I knew they were not of the Prime Material Plane. The first to fall was our leader, the human wizard Tilak (a tear rolls down his face as he talks of Tilak), who was my dear friend, all of our dear friends. All of them...without mercy...they butchered.. them...all of my Ff.. Friends...gone." He cannot speak anymore of his past, not now. He cries himself back to sleep unless someone casts a *Bless* spell on him.(or encourages him to stop)

Thanks for letting me in!!!!!

Spectrum's Comments: That was the new PC, Raith Spellmaster. Of course, he wasn't much of a Spellmaster being first level, but at least confidence wasn't one of his shortcomings. Raith certainly embellished upon what I had come up with for his introduction. His party was attacked by trolls.

SUBJ: Eliza FROM: Zynara 04/18/91 S#: 452807

When Schar approaches me to heal me, "My lady. I gained these wounds from not properly defending my charge from harm. Until all are healed, I wish to carry these wounds in full sight to show my honor has been wounded. Once all are healed, then I shall let my honor heal and thus my body also."

When the stranger enters and Schar rushes forward to help him, I draw my broadsword and block her while standing defensively between the stranger and all others. "Beware! It may be another changeling!" Even after the stranger falls, I will continue to stand between the stranger and the others unless Omni or Perrel order me otherwise. Even when ordered to stand aside, I will be close by with broadsword drawn. (Even if ordered to put it away.) Once the stranger has identified himself, I will put my weapon away but keep on guard.

SUBJ: GM Notes (R) FROM: GM Mad 04/19/91 S#: 815032

Argent adds Feather Fall, Reduce, Change Self, Detect Invisible, Blur, Improved Phantasmal Force and Continual Light to her spell book.

Arathnasis adds Web to his.

Selarin and Tristan, you both can learn 2 more 1st level spells. You both can cast 4, but only listed 2.

Your Prof's are noted, Selarin.

SUBJ: Omni (R) FROM: Omni Tuens 04/19/91 S#: 434413

"An excellent meal, Argent. I thank you."

Omni sleeps quite soundly, despite the fact that they are still surrounded by unknowns. Falling off a balcony can do that to people. When Schar approaches him about her speak with dead spell, he frowns, but doesn't dismiss the idea. "Go ahead and have it ready, Schar. I don't want to use it, but if it comes to that, we may have to." When Omni overhears Eliza refusing to be healed, he talks with Schar again. "You're skilled enough to judge her condition- will Eliza be all right without aid? If not, you might want to give her a little help without her knowing it..."

Later, when the new visitor arrives, Omni is doubtful at first, but reassured when it's obvious the half-elf is harmless. "At ease, everyone. In this condition, he could do us no harm even if he wanted to." Waiting for Raith to awake, Omni listens to his story and then responds:

"Nice to meet you; I'm sorry it couldn't be under happier conditions. My name is Omni, and you are among the Company of the Sword, out of Gateway. Now... you say you think the creatures that attacked you were from another plane?"

SUBJ: Perrel... (R) FROM: Count Kill 04/19/91 S#: 471960

I sit down and enjoy Argent's fine meal, enjoying it so much, that I even have seconds, something I rarely do.

"Argent, it appears that you wield more than one type of magic." I say appreciatively.

That night, after saying my evening prayers to Tymora, and offering her my thanks for her help during the day, I settle down to sleep.

I settle down near Schar, roll over on my side, and watch her while I drift off to sleep, knowing that having her near will bring me pleasant dreams.

In the morning, I wake up hoping that Argent will have whipped us up a breakfast at least as good as her dinner.

I spend the morning practicing my thief skills, and swell slightly with pride when I realize how much they've improved since I first joined with the party in our quest.

When Schar comes over and hugs me, I smile widely, and hug her back, firmly, but tenderly.

"I don't know what that was for, but I'm not complaining." I say when she pulls away. When she explains why she hugged me, I smile widely again.

"That's great!" I say before hugging her again.

"This is going to be a good day, with a great start like that." I say when she pulls away again, before I move forward and hug her again.

"It's wonderful!" I say when she pulls away again, before I move forward and hug her again.

I keep this up, with exclamations of joy, and plenty of hugs until she catches on. Then I just stand there, with my eyes open wide in a "Who, me?" pose, and try to look as innocent as possible. ;)

When Raith staggers in, I quickly move towards him while drawing my Rapier. Once I see that he's in no condition to fight, and that he's barely able to stand, I'll sheath my rapier, and move forward to heal him if someone else hasn't already.

I listen to his story, and shake my head sadly.

I feel like I should try to say something, but find that I don't know what words to use, as counseling people has never been one of my strong points. So, I just stand and watch as those more used to it, like Schar, help him.

While they tend to him, I'll offer my healing spells to those in the party still wounded.

"Tymora, let your blessings be with this man's friends, that they may find the afterlife that is best for them." I say softly, while looking at Raith with sympathy in my eyes.

SUBJ: Mastiff FROM: Mastiff1 04/19/91 S#: 464629

"Amazing!" Mastiff says aloud as he eat the wonderful meal. "It seems Argent, that we can trade spells as well as recipes. You see, I am an accomplished chef myself."

Mastiff will try and learn Phantasmal Force from the spellbooks. When Argent asks about going to the unopened door "Sure, maybe I can do something to finally help the group." Mastiff will bring Ashes along with them to the door, after making sure she has eaten.

Mastiff will memorize Sleep

SUBJ: Drakkor FROM: Troll 3a 04/20/91 S#: 423767

I will eat until I feel overly full. Then, I will sleep and sleep-in until the unknown one comes in. I then walk in and draw my sword I put it back in its sheath. After hearing the story I will explore the upper towers then return to the party. I then will seek out anyone with a Two-handed sword to practice with.

SUBJ: Schar FROM: Schar 04/21/91 S#: 797084

Eliza:

I am slightly taken aback by Eliza's response to my offer to heal her.

"I confess that I do not understand your reasons, but I shall respect your wishes. If you should happen to change your mind, seek me out."

Omni:

"As you wish. I shall as for Speak with Dead. On the subject of Eliza, I believe that she is not any in danger. She is not at her fighting best and if the Keep is truely deserted, then she should be able to heal naturally."

I'm shocked when Omni mentions healing her without her consent.

"I could not do such a thing! I respect her wishes as an individual! I do not force he gifts of Azrella upon those who do not wish them. I'm surprised at you for suggesting such a thing."

Perrel:

I'm slightly surprised at first by the repeated hugs, but then understand what is going on. During the next hug, I hang on and whisper into his ear.

"You sir are a scoundrel and a rogue. And I love you for it. Please, such intimacy should be carried out in private. Do you not agree?"

I pull myself away, give him a wink and walk off.

Later, when Raith appears and Eliza bars my way...

"Please, Eliza! It is obvious that the man in hurt! Let me help him."

Eliza stands her ground until orders her to move aside. I give him a quick check and then report to Omni.

"He will live. He is battered and bruised, but he is young and will recover quickly. We should move him to a more comfortable place so that he can rest."

As I listen to Raith's tale, tears begin to gather in my eyes. I half notice Perrel's hand on my shoulder and I grasp it for support.

"How tragic... I know that there is nothing I can say to make up for your loss. Rest, you are safe now."

SUBJ: Perrel... (R) FROM: Count Kill 04/22/91 S#: 797334

I chuckle softly when Schar whispers in my ear.

"A hug is hardly something that needs to be done behind closed doors." I whisper back, with a smile on my face.

When she winks at me, I wink back at her, and then just watch her walk away, my eyes watching the sway of her hips appreciatively.

When she gets out of sight, I just let out a deep breath, and get a goofy smile on my face for a moment.

"I wonder if I should have told her?" I say as I wander off, tossing her coin purse up before catching it. "Nah, I'll just slip it back on her later. It'll give me more practice. And it gives me another excuse to hug her." I say with a wide smile.

Spectrum's Comments: That man is a scoundrel!

SUBJ: Omni FROM: Omni Tuens 04/22/91 S#: 454267

Omni grins when Schar speaks of being shocked at his request regarding Eliza. "Of course I respect her feelings as an individual. However, I think foremost of her health at this point. Better to have her temporarily upset with me than dead. If she is in any danger... well, let's just say that I have a high regard for Life, and wouldn't want to be responsible in anyway for her being in danger because she felt being healed was unhonorable."

SUBJ: Argent FROM: Enchantres 04/22/91 S#: 454546

'So you are a cook too, Mastiff?? Great! Now I got some help in the kitchen. We can swap recipes later.'

When Selarin produces his crystal dagger, I'll show him mine.

'I'll check them to see if they are magical later. I am developing a theory. At first glance the tapestries seem to indicate that we need to travel to the place pictured and locate the item shown. I think that it's the other way around. We need the item in question to reach the location. Our goal in that location is the one pictured on the next tapestry. The question is how many of these daggers we need and how they are used.'

In the meantime, Argent is pleased to see the other mages following her to the door. Once there I'll Knock to explore and proceed to explore.

SUBJ: Arathnasis FROM: Wildchilde 04/24/91 S#: 818200

Arathnasis will ask to speak to Eliza.

"First I must again thank you for helping me earlier, I fear I may not have survived without you. I do understand that you are refusing healing, I fully understand honor, my race takes great stock in it. But you are a valuable asset to this force and with you injured we may not be able to count on your full strength in battle. Which could prove disastrous. Healing ones self is not dishonorable, but causing others to become injured or killed most defiantly is! Think about this my friend."
