Spectrum's Comments: The Company has split into three groups. Crandor, Perrel, and Schar attempted to reach Waypoint and ended up rescuing Mastiff in the process. A second group returned to the Temple of Ehlonna to identify the magic items claimed from the Zombie Master. The remainder of the group continues to hold watch at the Zombie Master catacombs.
Sword of Doom # 30
Crandor, Mastiff, Perrel and Schar:
Mastiff reclaims his items from the goblins. The goblins are freed and run off. Crandor follows them at a safe distance.
Those remaining prepare to depart when their attention is drawn by the appearance of a cat. It walks up to Mastiff and begins to rub against his legs. Mastiff picks it up and places it in his backpack.
The three ride off towards the graveyard.
Graveyard Gang:
Omni and Eliza square off in their practice session. Eliza more then holds her own, in fact she lands more practice blows then Omni. Her style of fighting is much different then what Omni is used to.
Several hours after dusk, Perrel and Schar ride into the graveyard. Crandor is not with them, but there is another man in his place.
Temple Group:
Night comes to the Temple of Ehlonna.
Argent fires up the Crystal Ball. She succeeds in her first attempt in locating Omni. He is engaged in a sword battle with Eliza! However, it appears that neither one is trying to hurt the other. A practice session.
Moving on to Perrel, Argent finds him riding on a horse with Schar. It is to dark for her to make out any other details.
Jonathon studies the books taken from the ZM's library. He reads many interesting things upon Necromancy. He will have a difficult time in selecting what books to leave behind.
Next morning the ID'ing crew is at it again. Aided by the Priestess, the rest of the items are ID'd.
Crandor:
You follow the goblins for over half an hour before you arrive at Waypoint. At one time it was a small village nestled in the hills. A main road comes in from the southeast, and continues on to the west.
Circling, you can see that the goblin village is poorly defended, however, the creatures number in the hundreds!
No humans or demi-humans are seen. From its appearance you gather that no humans have lived here for quite sometime.
GM Notes:

SUBJ: Tristan FROM: FrankP25 02/14/91 S#: 450713
After waking up at the temple, I will check to see how everyone is.
"So guys, where are we off to next? Seems we can get to some tougher quests now that the Zombie freak is gone."
Next, I will pray to Ehlonna and ask for any guidance and help that she can give for the rest of our journey.
Regarding the magic items, I would like the leather +2 and any other weapon that may go unclaimed.
FrankP25
SUBJ: Drakkor FROM: Troll 3a 02/14/91 S#: 793828
"Aye I will still help in carrying these never know why you magic types like having so much paper" DM I will take as many as the necromancer sees that he wants. I would also request the two-handed sword. I would also like to practice with one of the other warriors in the temple in swordsman ship.
SUBJ: Crandor FROM: GM Falcon 02/15/91 S#: 846271
Crandor continues to examine the village for a while. Finally satisfied that Waypoint is not the victim of a hostile takeover, he will retreat. Retaking a town has appeal..taking one away does not.
He will head to the mausoleum, and report to Perrel, Schar, and Mastiff, explaining that Waypoint is indeed a goblin village by seeming right.
When the magic comes up, he will request the leather or the longsword again.
SUBJ: Omni Tuens FROM: Omni Tuens 02/15/91 S#: 814748
Omni duels with Eliza, decidedly going easy on her...
@WHAP! SMACK! CRUNK!@
"Um....well done...your method is coming right along."
Omni suddenly becomes busy elsewhere, relieved to see some of those sent to the city returning, only surprised by the story they tell.
"I hadn't counted on this... A pleasure to meet you, Mastiff." Omni gestures over his shoulder. "That's Eliza, Berek, and Drakkor; solid swords, all. The rest of our company is at a nearby temple. Now...where's Crandor gotten off to?"
Upon Crandor's return, Omni speaks with disappointment, but knows what the course of action must be.
"Very well, Crandor...It seems we weren't meant to journey to Waypoint. Time to restructure our travel plans, then."
---------------------------------------
I'll keep on thinking on the items...keep on sending those requests...both posting and mailing. Try my best to get the job done BEFORE #31 goes up....
SUBJ: Argent (R) FROM: Enchantres 02/15/91 S#: 460494
Argent is pleased with her skill in using the Crystal Ball. She will relate to the others in the temple that the others appear to be safe.
'I wish I could help you with you books, Jon. Necromancy is not my specialty, but I can sympathize with your plight. Unfortunately, I am a weakling compared to the rest of the group. I can carry very little.'
6 str :(
Omni, I am pleased to have the new spells as it is. Any items I receive would be frosting on the cake. The wand would be wonderful or perhaps one of the rings.
Mad, once we get on the move again, my standard spells will be: 2 Magic Missiles, Color Spray, Web and Knock.
SUBJ: Perrel... (R) FROM: Count Kill 02/16/91 S#: 791350
Back by the goblins...
"Well met Mastiff, I myself am a swashbuckling priest, and Schar is a very fine healer and a very fine woman." I say to Mastiff, but loud enough for Schar to hear.
"Then it's settled, you can ride my mount until we find you one of your own, and I'll ride with Schar in the meantime." I say aloud, while inwardly smiling to myself over how nicely this whole thing worked out.
"I'm hurt." I say to Schar as I mount her horse. "I may be a thief, but I'm not a thief!" I say with a chuckle.
"And I don't need to watch my hands, they're just where I left them, right at the ends of my arms." I say while I settle myself behind her.
As we ride, I silently revel in the closeness of her. The lightness of her hair, the softness of her body, the sweaty smell of her skin. I suddenly realize just how long it's been since any of us have had a chance to bathe, and I suddenly become anxious about how I must smell to her.
Her sweat smells good on her I realize, but I just hope my smell doesn't cause her any discomfort, or if my worst fears are realized, retching. "Great..." I THINK to MYSELF. "Here I am sitting next to Schar, and suddenly I can't think of anything but how I smell. Tymora giveth luck, and she taketh it away too. Sigh..."
Once we get back to the Mausoleum, I quickly dismount.
"Why don't you two go on ahead, and I'll take care of the horses. Tell Omni I'll be down shortly."
When they go, I'll take care of the horses, and then using some water, I'll clean myself some, concentrating on the spots I'm the most sweaty in, like armpits, etc..
Then I'll head down, feeling more refreshed from the slight wash.
Once downstairs, assuming the other two filled him in, I'll ask Omni if he wants to keep a guard on the horses for the evening. There might be predators in the area that would just love to take a chomp out of some horseflesh.
If they didn't fill him in, I'll do so, and then ask the question.
"Omni..."I say as I mean to ask him why he seems so exerted, but then seeing Eliza in a similar state, I smile widely.
"You sly dog!" I say to Omni softly while giving him a sly wink. "No wonder you wanted to get rid of everyone."
Spectrum's Comments: This slight misunderstanding about what Omni and Eliza were doing behaved like most rumors: It spread fast and was blown way out of proportion! It was also quite amusing!
SUBJ: Magic... (R) FROM: Count Kill 02/16/91 S#: 844205
When we get back to the temple and find out what the items are ID'ed as, Perrel will request the ring +1, as none of the other items are really useful to him. But, he won't make any requests from magic items until we get to the temple and find out what they are.
SUBJ: Omni FROM: Omni Tuens 02/16/91 S#: 806111
Omni smiles as Schar and Mastiff recount their story, relieved to have a distraction from the swordfight. THEN Perrel enters. The fighter wipes some sweat from his brow as he listens, then turns a deep crimson as his embarrassment from the practice session causes him to misinterpret Perrel's remark....
"Lay off, okay? Eliza just got lucky. She's good at what she does, and she had some moves I hadn't seen before."
Omni then storms back up the stairs so that he can get some air, and have a moment to collect his thoughts...even though he STILL misses what Perrel was implying.
Spectrum's Comments: Omni just helped perpetuate the misunderstanding...
SUBJ: Johnathan FROM: Stretch611 02/16/91 S#: 476763
1) Books - I can carry 14 book - 9 for me and 5 for my mount. Since greed can lead to many evils I will be happy with 14 book picked at random.
2) Magic Items - See greed above. I will accept any items that the leader will send my way.
3) Spells 1st: Chill Touch, Color Spray, Magic Missile
2nd: Spectral Hand, Choke
Before leaving I will cast an Armor spell on myself and any others that would like it.
SUBJ: Arathnasis FROM: Wildchilde 02/16/91 S#: 460828
"Whew, I am glad that that is over." Arath is openly exhausted from all the work in IDing the magic Items He will thank the priestess and slowly move off to sleep.
As for magic Items. I would request the cloak or the longsword.
SUBJ: Eliza (R) FROM: Zynara 02/16/91 S#: 794756
Eliza is winded when the others arrive and is happy to be given the break but will try her best not to show she is exhausted. As Omni heads up the stairs, "Lord Omni! When you are ready, I will be ready for another round of your practice." Eliza will smile and slowly move towards the newcomer.
As I approach the newcomer, my hand will rest lightly on my katana. I will extend my other hand in friendship.
"Greetings. Mastiff isn't it? I am known as Eliza by my friends. I hope I can count you among them. Now if you will excuse me, I would like to rest a little before my turn at guard duty."
With that, I head for my blanket to get some rest after the workout.
***************************************
Once I know of the magic items, I will approach my section leader, Perrel.
"Master Perrel, I don't need any of the weapons. I already have a magical weapon. I could use the magical chainmail for protection, the ring of fire resistance to allow me to get close to enemies that use fire and the potion of speed to increase the effectiveness of my fighting. What I receive is up to you and Lord Omni but those are my requests and why I think I could use them." With that, I wait to see what their wisdom decide to give me.

SUBJ: Schar FROM: Schar 02/17/91 S#: 474209
If the healer makes any knowledge about Perrel 'offending', she makes no sign of it. ;)
Once at the graveyard, I'll show Mastiff the way down to the Zombie Master's complex. I tell all that I know to Omni.
Later I listen as Crandor gives his report on Waypoint.
"Perhaps it is best that we ignore the goblins for now and get back to our main objective; the quest for the Sword of Doom. Did you not say that the Hextorites also sent out a band to retrieve the Sword for the forces of evil? Reaching the fortress to the north would seem to be our greatest priority."
Still later we return to the forest temple. I sigh in great relief to be back to this place of goodness. I seek out my bar of soap and head towards one of the fountains, seeking the Priestess permission first, with a bucket. Once I have enough water, I return to the privacy of the women's bunkhouse and cleanse myself.
I smile and give a slight bow as Omni hands me the bracers. Thank you, Omni.
Later yet, I'll approach Omni...
"What is our next course of action?"
SUBJ: Perrel... FROM: GM Kill 02/17/91 S#: 796120
My eyes open wide at Omni's words, and I'm stunned speechless as he walks away. Just as I get my voice back, Eliza speaks, and I'm speechless once more.
"I thought I was kidding..."I THINK to MYSELF. "But, apparently it's true. Omni and Eliza? Wow! Maybe I should ask Omni if they would like the benefit of a wedding ceremony? Nah, they'll ask when they're ready."
" I wonder if we'll see any little Omni's or Eliza's?" ;)
Later...
"I agree with Schar, we should head after the Sword, it is our first priority. Otherwise why did we agree to go on this quest?"
Spectrum's Comments: And the misunderstanding gets pushed further along..
SUBJ: Omni Tuens FROM: Omni Tuens 02/19/91 S#: 822170
Omni pulls himself back together after Perrel's words, reassuring himself he's still good with a sword. Then, after an appropriate exchange of messengers and trips between the graveyard in the temple in which he learns of the eminent arrival of the followers of Ehlonna to the temple, he resolves to return to the temple. Once there, he sees that the equipment is distributed (see my last post) and takes stock of the party. The swordsman's thoughts then turn to the
future...
"My friends, we now have two choices before us. We can return to Gateway, with our heads hung and defeat hovering over us. Or, we can journey northward into the unknown, and do what the Crown commissioned us to do....recover the Sword of Doom! Do any of you doubt what we must do?"
Later, privately to Schar...
"Yes, its quite true...there is a Hextorite group, of unknown power, moving in opposition to us. We'll just have to beat them to it. I don't like moving through unknown territory, but we have no choice, it seems..."
SUBJ: Crandor FROM: GM Falcon 02/19/91 S#: 454928
Crandor bows slightly as Omni turns the sword and potion over to him. He places the pouch in his pack, and puts the sword in his l-sword scabbard, though he keeps the other one.. A point of honor he'll explain.
When the question of the Sword comes up, he'll ask:
"Forgive my intrusion...but what sword is this? Perhaps I can be of further assistance?"
SUBJ: Thank you (R) FROM: GrooToo 02/20/91 S#: 497560
Thanking Omni "May fate smile upon you my friend" selarin sets about to praying to Tymora for guidance and instruction. Then later I also go ask permission of the priestess to take water and bathe. Putting on the boots and the ring I will go and speak to Omni. "Could you please explain our quest? Although I know much, it would help me understand what we are seeking."
Selarin
SUBJ: Perrel FROM: GrooToo 02/20/91 S#: 479392
Going over to Perrel I talk to him. " I think you have Omni and Eliza all wrong and that's why Omni got upset. Its just an observation." Then I move on to ask him about the quest as well.
Selarin
SUBJ: Arathnasis (R) FROM: Wildchilde 02/21/91 S#: 414526
::Talking aside with Omni:: "I think we should give a portion of our treasure to the priestess and the temple of Ehlonna, Don't get me wrong I am not turning religious on you or anything, but the Priestess and the temple provided us with a valuable service and we should repay now that we may be able,"
Latter in the day Arath will ask if Argent will show him how here Crystal ball works.

* Gained a new level. Send new Skills or Prof's gained, if any, ASAP!
The Company is now reunited at Ehlonna's Temple. The loot gained from the Zombie Master has been divided up.
The Priestess suggests that you rest up tonight; tomorrow is going to be a busy day. She again mentions that you'll receive Ehlonna's gift tomorrow. She makes no mention of what exactly this gift is.
The day passes quickly and several members of the Company have advanced in levels.
GM Notes:
Short post this week. Send me new spell lists if you haven't done so already. Next week, Ehlonna's mysterious gift...
SUBJ: Perrel... (R) FROM: GM Kill 02/21/91 S#: 829491
When Omni bestows the +2 ring on me, I thank him, and slip it on my left hand.
That day, I also take some time out of my schedule to bathe, then I spend time praying to Tymora, and feel her blessings reward me as I increase in my priestly abilities.
"Thank you Tymora, I pray that you continue to shine your luck upon my friends and I. I feel we may sorely need it in the weeks ahead."
When not praying or practicing, I'll be found trying to get up a card game with any willing to play a friendly little hand or two.
Of course, I always take time out to talk with Schar when she's around.
But that evening, I will seek her out and ask her if she would wish to join me in a night time stroll around the outside of the temple.
"Pardon, but I was wondering if you would mayhaps want to join me in an evening walk to appreciate the beauty of the evening sky, even though I still believe it's beauty pales compared to yours."
As we walk, the day's events run through my mind, and finally I turn to Schar and ask a question.
"Schar, I was wondering, what do you think of romantic relationships within an adventuring group?"
SUBJ: Perrel... (R) FROM: GM Kill 02/21/91 S#: 805255
Sometime during the day, I talk to Omni privately, a large smile on my face while I do.
"Omni, when I think of what you and Eliza did, all I can say is...that's great!" I say happily. "And I just hope that when you're ready, you'll allow me the honor."
I then turn and walk away slightly misty eyed over the situation, happy that my fiends could find such joy together.
;D
Spectrum's Comments: And grows more out of proportion...
SUBJ: :: Sigh :: FROM: GM Kill 02/21/91 S#: 840129
It just figures, Mad's slipping on coins, and I'm turning Eliza and Omni into fiends.
Not a good post for spelling obviously. ;)
SUBJ: Omni Tuens (R) FROM: Omni Tuens 02/22/91 S#: 808232
Omni is happy to be back at the temple, and takes the time to clean himself up. He's disappointed to see how little of his tabard survived the recent battles, as it had his family's symbol printed on it. Exchanging thankful courtesies with the priestess of Ehlonna, he'll then talk to the others in the party.
"You're right Arathnasis. It's only fair we contribute some of our funds to the Temple. I feel giving them 367 pieces is fair...that would leave us with 2000. We can distribute that money for carrying on our horses, and just keep it as Company property, for us when we need it."
"As for those of you wondering as to our objective, I'll do my best to explain, but I must admit I'm no historian. Perhaps one of our more scholarly companions can edit my version of the tale. For now, I'll just tell you what I feel is relevant.
Long ago, great war ravaged this land. As the battles reached their climax, a Northern fortress...and all the land around it....were totally destroyed. It was assumed that the items of power used in the fight- including the Sword of Doom- were lost in the devastation. But now news of the Sword have resurfaced again. Sources have revealed that the Hextorites have dispatched agents to retrieve it.
In order to thwart the Hextorites and capture the Sword, the Crown put out a call for adventurers, and the Company of the Sword was formed. Although our name may be lacking in originality, our spirit was not, and we left Gateway with a Montagne de Gallant as our leader. A short time later, he left our ranks and I picked up where he left off. Of those original members who issued forth from Gateway, myself, along with six others, remain. And that brings us to the present, and deciding our next step on the journey northward and a step closer to the Sword of Doom."
Spectrum's Comments: Its always gratifying to know that the players are paying attention to game history.
SUBJ: Omni continued... FROM: Omni Tuens 02/22/91 S#: 803080
(I realize that was extremely long-winded...and lacking in details. Feel free to laugh and jeer...as long as you correct me, too. :D)
Later, Omni takes the time to listen to Perrel, not entirely understanding what the priest is so bloody pleased about.
"Listen, Perrel. Eliza and I both agreed we needed to practice, and she managed to gain the advantage over me. Next time, I'll most likely best her. Now, will you please just stop worrying about it?"
Omni spends the remainder of his time chatting with various party members and taking care of little details. He's quite curious about 'Ehlonna's Gift', but feels it would be considered rude to speculate.
Spectrum's Comments: And grows larger...
SUBJ: Argent FROM: Enchantres 02/22/91 S#: 419468
Argent gladly shows Arathnasis, and any of the other mages for that matter, how to use the Crystal Ball. When not in use, I will store it in my backpack. I will carefully wrap my spare dress around it to protect it.
When Argent learns which items she received, she is surprised to have gotten the Love Potion. She gives Omni a positively wicked smile when she takes the potion. Is that a hint, Omni? ;)
Later that night when the tale of the Sword is told, I decide to put my two cents in.
What Omni is saying is, somewhat, correct, he is in error on a few events. The Sword of Doom is a powerful tool. The last known owner was a Lord Cairn. His fortress is the Companies destination.
(And what is this about our name? I came up with the Company of the Sword!)
If I recall my history, and can read my notes correctly :/, the Sword did not play an important role in the clash of Empires. Instead, a party of adventurers were sent to Cairn's Keep to neutralize it's threat. They succeeded, but the Sword was never found.
(I believe the devastating battle Omni mentioned was when the Emperor's Palace was destroyed.)
Those adventurers took over Cairn's Keep to continue the search for the Sword. No one knows what happened from there.
(I, like Omni, am doing this from notes and memory. Feel free to jump in and make corrections! :) )
'A mysterious gift, huh? Perhaps the Priestess has the Sword. No, we could not be that lucky!'
SUBJ: Schar FROM: Schar 02/22/91 S#: 422017
The day passes by quickly, but the rumors spread even faster! The tale of Omni's and Eliza's love some reaches even my ears. Even I find myself eager to learn the latest 'dirt' on this subject from Perrel.
"Sigh, that's so romantic! They are perfect for each other. What's that you say? She got the better of him?! I knew she was a capable warrior, but..."
Fortunately, I am unable to finish that train of thought. The words simply fail me. For the rest of the day, I find myself grinning ear to ear when either pass close by.
That evening as I walk with Perrel...
"Romantic involvement with in the party? I guess that it would be something that naturally happens when you have large groups of men and women together for long periods of time."
We talk for a time and I find myself standing rather close to Perrel. I can almost feel his breath on me. The situation suddenly hits me!
"Why Perrel, you rogue! Are you trying to seduce me? If so you will not find me so easy to charm. I bet many a young maiden has succumbed to your dashing charms. I shall not be so easy to sway with your golden tongue."
I start to move away, but turn back for a moment. I lean forward and give Perrel a kiss on the forehead.
"Do not be discourage, Perrel. The thrill of the chase can be bliss itself. I look forward to it!"
I flash a bright smile and walk back to the temple, humming to myself the entire way. Ah, romance... ;>
Spectrum's Comments: And others start getting in on the act...
SUBJ: Eliza FROM: Zynara 02/22/91 S#: 500127
Eliza is very, very grateful for receiving 2 out of the 3 objects she asked for. She will even forget her teachings for a moment and give Omni a big hug and a kiss on the check. She quickly regains her composure and gives him a respectable bow, "Sir, I am grateful for these items. May your trust in giving them to me, be well kept."
I will then continue about my business. The fact we get a special gift from the goddess doesn't affect me in any way. If asked, I respond, "I have only done what I was told to do. In doing my job, I brought happiness. Seeing that happiness is gift enough for me."
When the tail of the sword is told, I listen intently. Latter I go to Perrel.
"Master Perrel. This sword we are searching for. What type of sword is it? Is it's magic such that it will choose only one of us as it's user or could any of us use it?"
When some of the others in the group start smiling in my direction for no apparent reason, I think nothing of it at first. When it starts happening more frequently, I meditate on what actions I am doing that is bringing about this change in others.
This meditation will take the place of practice unless a fellow warrior wishes to practice.
SUBJ: Morning FROM: GrooToo 02/23/91 S#: 496926
Watching the afternoon and evening unfold with interest I watch as Perrel comes back crestfallen. (broken love???) and I notice the smile on Argents face as she receives the potion DE amour. I chuckle to myself thinking" Watch out Omni!" Then I will go to Perrels card game and see if I can get him interested in some spades or rummy. After a few pleasing rounds of cards I politely hit the knees and do some serious meditation on what OMNI has told us. After that I will quietly rest for the night and wait for the "gifts" that will be given come the dawn.

I shall pray to Ehlonna once more, before we depart.
SUBJ: Perrel... (R) FROM: GM Kill 02/23/91 S#: 788823
When Omni mentions that she bested him, and that he'll probably best her next time, I look shocked!
"It's just a game to you, isn't it?! I can't believe it, I would've thought it of anybody but you!"
"I mean how does she feel about it? Or haven't you even considered that? Does she mean that little to you?" I say indignantly before storming away.
That evening, as I walk with Schar, I'll mention to her about what happened with Omni, and his casual indifference to the situation.

"I'm afraid I know little of the sword, as we weren't told much about it, just that it was powerful. I presume though that a weapon of such power couldn't be wielded by just anyone."
As she turns to go, I grab her hand for a moment, and look her in the eyes. "Eliza..." I say before pausing a moment, concern evident in my voice. "I just want to say, be careful with Omni. I wouldn't want you to get hurt."
Then I smile, and let her hand go, content that I've given her this warning about Omni's callousness. ;)
Later, while walking with Schar, I get surprised when she starts talking about me seducing her, as I was talking of Omni's and Eliza's romance. But, I quickly gather my wits.
"I wouldn't attempt to seduce you, or anyone for that matter, as I'm not the type of person who would play games with ones heart."
"I am certainly attracted to you though, as would be any living, breathing male. And I would certainly not be adverse to a relationship between the two of us."
"But, I don't want to rush you, or put any pressure on you."
After she kisses my forehead, and as she starts to walk away, I follow after slowly.
"Do not worry, I too love the chase. But, I feel I should give warning, I intend to chase you as you've never been chased before." I say while she's still in hearing range, a wide smile crossing my face.
I then head back in as well, watching the smooth grace with which Schar walks as I go.
SUBJ: Omni FROM: Omni Tuens 02/24/91 S#: 504226
Omni stares hard at Perrel as he speaks, trying to discern what has come over the elf, and is surprised when he storms off. He murmurs his concerns to himself: "I'll have to have one of the other clerics take a look at him....I don't need him getting eccentric...more eccentric...on me."
Later, to any or all....
"Since we know there's a city of goblins nearby, we'll need to head north with caution. We don't want to confront that many of the creatures. It might be best if we have one small party scouting a little ways ahead at all times, to make sure we aren't surprised."
"Don't thank me for giving out the gear we found in the Zombie Master's lair. You earned it...all of you."
SUBJ: Schar FROM: Schar 02/24/91 S#: 396572
As I hear Perrel's words, I come to a sudden stop. After a moments thought, I turn and face him.
"I apologize for being so callous with my words. We have not known each other for all that long. How could I tell your true motives? I believe what you say."
I look into his eyes for a moment and find myself shaking slightly.
"I cannot explain the feelings that you make me feel. I... I need to sort this out."
I lean forward and kiss him properly, on the lips.
"I may be in love with you Perrel. I'm not sure. I don't know what to think right now. My head is spinning. Just give me some time. Okay?"
I'll then walk off. Once back at the barracks, I break out my sewing kit and try to repair the blouse damaged by that lightning bolt. The work proceeds slowly as I find it difficult to concentrate on the task at hand.
SUBJ: Perrel... (R) FROM: Count Kill 02/24/91 S#: 438286
"Do not apologize, you have no reason too. We both know so little of each other, and I do at times tend to be flirtatious. But I, unlike Omni, would never deliberately break a woman's heart."
"Truth to tell, I think I may love you too."
I look deeply into her warm eyes, finding in them a peace I have never known before.
"You are truly the most beautiful woman I have ever known..." I say before we kiss, the kiss itself sending a warmth flowing through me.
"But you are right, you need time and so do I. As I said, we know so little of each other, even though we have fought side by side together."
"So, let us take time to get to know one another, and find out just how truly strong our feelings for one another are."
I wrap my arms about her gently, giving her a warm hug, before pulling back to look into her eyes once more.
"Come, let's go inside and sit. I know an interesting card game we can play, it's called Strip Poker." I say smiling a flirtatious smile, before quickly speaking again. "Just kidding...you don't expect me to give up being flirtatious with you just because we may love one another, do you?"
SUBJ: Arathnasis FROM: Wildchilde 02/24/91 S#: 793431
Arathnasis is grateful for the lesson on the Crystal Ball. "Tis truly a wonderful instrument, should prove to be very useful." Arathnasis looks quite tired and pale, when questioned about it he says, "Just a little tired from the ID'ing I guess"
Arathnasis will retire for the evening and proceed to sleep for the better part of a whole day. His mind wanders to events both past and present.
After Waking and a Morningfeast he realizes his swordplay has been neglected and will proceed to practice the better part of the day, inviting anyone to join him. Much to his surprise he wields the blade better then ever before.
GM Notes:
Omni and Argent covered the gist of the quest. However, there are a few points that they skipped over.
No one knows what the Sword of Doom exactly is. It may not even be a true sword. It is an item of power, as illustrated by its last owner Lord Kairn. He rose from a minor baron to control of the largest portion of Keln. He became a trusted advisor to the emperor himself. All of this happened after he located the sword.
The Sword is believed to have been constructed by the Elders, a mysterious race that walked these lands long before the current nations stood.
The Crown hired you to retrieve the Sword before the enemy could. They fear that it could severely shift the balance of power. If you cannot locate the Sword, then you are to make sure that no one will possess it then.
That's about it! :)
SUBJ: Crandor... (R) FROM: GM Falcon 02/25/91 S#: 410480
Crandor watches the happenings of this particular company with growing interest. 'So...alive', he decides. 'How long has it been since I've known what it is to live..'
When the Quest for the Sword comes up, Crandor listens intently. He then decides that he wants to help these brave people.. nay, he NEEDS it. Finding Ehlonna close enough to the goddess he worshipped once upon a time, he will appeal to her for her grace in the party's travels.
Rumor of Omni and Eliza spreads, and he looks at both first with a tolerant smile, then strong pain. The pain is reinforced when he sees Schar and Perrel together...another part of life he had chosen to sacrifice to the cause.
The second rumor, about Omni's less than chivalrous feelings for Eliza, does not bring about scorn.. nor even the grim triumph he might have once felt. But a certain understanding, as he eyes the leader.
To distract himself from the multitude of emotions washing over him, he will practice sword fighting with anyone interested (Eliza?), and use his natural pattern (two swords) to attack...not with intent to kill, certainly, but perhaps a bit roughly in his attempt to work through these feelings.
SUBJ: Eliza (R) FROM: Zynara 02/25/91 S#: 508620
When Perrel sounds worried about Omni hurting me, "Master Perrel, Lord Omni would not hurt me intentionally. He would only do so from a mistake on my part. Hopefully my father taught me well enough not to make such childish mistakes." With that, I continue on my way.
When Arathnasis and Crandor ask for some sword practice, I smile and get out my weapons. "Lord Omni? You gonna practice with us?"
I will use the broadsword to practice with Arathnasis with his single sword work.
When Crandor chooses two swords, I choose my katana feeling this will be a hard work out. When Crandor starts getting rough, I decide it is time to take the sting out of him. With that in mind, I go on a hard offensive push to disarm him, using my katana two handedly to increase the force of the blows against his swords. I do not intend to hurt him but I will over letting him hurt me.
Spectrum's Comments: Yep, these people are talking about two separate things...
SUBJ: after practice FROM: Zynara 02/25/91 S#: 468980
After the practice with Crandor, "Crandor...Anger is not something you take into practice let alone combat. You can be severely injured if not killed because hate slows the mind. If you want, I am willing to listen to your problems any time you wish to speak of them. Maybe I can help in some fashion."
SUBJ: Argent (R) FROM: Enchantres 02/25/91 S#: 511434
The Invoker watches all the going's on without showing much emotion. She sits away from everyone and thinks to herself. About what you don't know. She gets up to watch the practice sessions, since she has nothing better to do.
Spectrum's Comments: More Argent being lonely.
SUBJ: Omni FROM: Omni Tuens 02/25/91 S#: 470082
Omni decides to put Perrel's strange comments behind him, only speaking of them if spoken to of them, and even then with confusion. He smiles as Eliza invites him to join the practice session.
"Certainly I will join you all, Eliza. But please...my father is the 'Lord' in the family. I wouldn't feel comfortable being called that until I earn or inherit it."
Omni then moves to join the sword practice, setting his own two-handed sword aside and looking for someone else's to borrow....reason being that he's mastered his sword, and is merely proficient in others. Omni will also practice without armor, seeing no need to sweat more than necessary and wanting the practice unarmored in case he is ever surprised.
SUBJ: Selarin (R) FROM: GrooToo 02/26/91 S#: 812589
Watching Omni and the others practice with their blades I will practice my stalking and hiding abilities so that I might scout for the party. Hearing of the multiple romances flying about the group. I chuckle to myself and decide to watch the unfolding situations. Later I will talk with Perrel about our faith and the fact that the lady (Tymora) helps those who help themselves. He seems to be doing a pretty good job of that.:)Later I will pray for Tymora's good fortune in any such encounters in the future. Being somewhat younger than the rest of the group. I have no interest in tying my long lifespan down yet, although if I found the right person.(bah) I shrug that thought off quickly seeing as though it hasn't happened yet. Later I will talk to Omni about my leading or scouting ahead next time pointing out that my expertise will the shortbow and horses would allow me to escape if necessary. That night I will pray to Tymora to grant me cure light wounds X2, remove fear and detect evil. Then I will go to my bunk and drift off into sleep waiting for the "gift" of Ehlonna That supposedly will come with the dawn.

"Anybody else up for some practice? I think a could use somebody for some target practice. We're going to have to improve if we are able to get the sword."
SUBJ: Arathnasis FROM: Wildchilde 02/27/91 S#: 443792
Withdrawing from the practicing, Arath will sit down next to Argent and begin to clean his blade.
"What troubles your mind O' Beautiful mage? you seem deeply engrossed in thought?"
Spectrum's Comments: But she's not lonely for long!
SUBJ: Crandor FROM: GM Falcon 02/27/91 S#: 830254
A katana, a longsword, and a shortsword slam together in a half-beautiful, half-obscene dance of steel. The ranger eyes his opponent with some respect as she goes on the offensive, then brings both swords together in a parry.
When the practice ends, he'll wipe the sweat from his brow and look her over as she speaks:
"Aye...", he remarks, "..but sometimes it (hatred/emotion) is a tool. It depends on how you use it. It depends on who is in command... the wielder or the emotion."
He kneels to catch his breath, and then looks up. 'Too bad that Omni likes her', he considers, 'This one might be worthy of respect.'
Seeing Arath and Omni close by, he'll shake his head: "We could talk later if you'd like...but not quite yet." He rose to his feet, offered her the salute of a ranger, then stalked away to bathe.. or at least dump some cold water on himself. (Wrong connotation, Omni)
Spectrum's Comments: Next time: The great misunderstanding continues and what is Ehlonna's gift?
