New Crusaders #1 - "Crisis in California"
Los Angeles. When one thinks of LA, they think of the glamour of Hollywood, the California sun, etc. That's how it used to be. Today, LA is a city gripped in fear. Supervillains have run rampant in that fair metropolis. Turning to the headlines of the newspapers is all one needs to do to learn the sad tale.
PROTECTORS VANISH! - West Coast hero team disappears after a clash with the criminal organization known as Villains, Inc. These heroes become only the latest in a string of Hero disappearances.
SECOND SQUADER SLAIN! - The Freedom Squad member called Dimension Man was found dead yesterday on a warehouse rooftop, apparently slain with a dagger. Dimension Man's death is the second murder of a Freedom Squad member in the last two weeks. Founding member Hardhat's body was found early last week. The coroner's report stated that he had been beaten and electrocuted.
VIPER CRIMEWAVE CONTINUES! - Goodman's Jewels was the latest target of Counter-Force, a supervillain team employ of the criminal organization VIPER. It's estimated that they villains escaped with 1.4 million dollars in gems in jewels.
BLACK PHANTOM STILL IN COMA! - The Black Phantom, the masked crusader who helped found the Freedom Squad, is still in a coma after surgery on his wounds. He was attacked with a laser-like device while on his nightly patrol of our city.
OMEGA CORP. WAREHOUSE SACKED! - The Omega Corporation, producer of the most popular personal computer, the Omega 1701, was robbed late last night. According to security personal, it was the Alliance of Supervillains, a criminal group headed by the so-called Timemaster.
SMUGGLER BLUE STRIKES AGAIN! - That ocean going villain, Smuggler Blue has struck again. The luxury yacht of millionaire TJ Armstrong was the latest target. An undetermined amount of cash and valuables were taken.
MYSTERY VILLIANESS DESTROYS CURIO SHOP - Archie's Artifacts, a small shop of unusual knick-knacks was literally leveled by a mystery villainess. According the owner, Archie Hokum, "This broad on with big sword walked in and started to wreck the place. She was screaming about 'where is it?' I didn't now what the bimbo was talking about and hid." She proceeded to destroy the place making good her escape on what Mr. Hokum called "a demon horse".
A PLEA FOR HELP - In a press conference this afternoon, American Eagle, leader of the Freedom Squad, issued a nationwide appeal to every hero for assistance in the Squad's investigation of the wave of terrorist attacks on Freedom Squad members. "This case is going to take the best there is," Says the patriotic crimefighter. "We're up against a cool assassin who has no compunction against killing."
SUPER SUMMIT CALLED! - Today, the Mayor put out a personal plea for super-powered help to deal with the troubles of our fair city. "We're desperate here", said the mayor. "Crime is running rampant and he need help. Citizens are becoming afraid to walk the streets. We need help!" The mayor refused to comment when asked if this action was related to the fact that this is an election year.
That brings us up today. From around the country you have come to the City of Angels. A city rapidly becoming a war zone. In addition to any newcomers, the remaining members of the Freedom Squad will be attending in hopes of recruiting new members.

The Super Summit
The PC's arrive in the order that you post.
Already waiting in the large meeting room are the surviving members of the Freedom Squad: American Eagle, Jo-Tan and Victrix.
American Eagle wears a red, white, and blue costume and has large white wings. His costume is mostly blue, w/ red sleeves and boots and a white eagle on his chest.
Jo-Tan wears an orange costume. He has no mask, just a headband. He has a sleeveless and legless body suit with a white belt. He wears black shoes and gloves.
Victrix wears a mostly gold costume with a red mask and trim. She wears a strapless costume with high gloves and boots.
GM Notes:
What I'd like you all to do know is to introduce yourselves. Ask any questions that you care to ask. The mayor himself has yet to arrive.
Note to all players, regardless of mode. I will update you responses as often as possible, but if several days pass without a response from me, don't panic!
Remember, just because the Freedom Squad is looking for members, that doesn't mean you have to join with them. Form your own teams or groups. Remember, the choice is yours!

The mystery villainess who destroyed the curio shop has ties to the hero Areion. What those ties are will be revealed in time.

I enter the room suffering from a bit of jet lag. I am wearing a brown bodysuit. I will look around then wait to here what is said and will keep mostly to my self unless attacked.
Spectrum's Comments: I seem to have this curse when it comes to first posts of a brand new game. They tend to be, shall we say, less than stellar? Wolf was basically a Werewolf.

Spectrum's Comments: You got to admit, it takes some guts to go around calling yourself Mega Man... Power wise, Mega Man wasn't very Mega. 25 Str, with marital arts. He could run fast and turn desolid while he ran. To avoid running into things, I suppose.

I look at this newcomer. He will never make it where I come from. After thinking that I will wait to find out what is going on. If you look closely on the leather jacket I am wearing you will see a stunt man patch on it
SUBJ: Starlight (R) FROM: REM9 05/27/90 S#: 835332
"Ok let's see what's in this room. Yes this must be the place Starlight, I recognize American Eagle over there. Come on, let's get in while there are a lot of good seats to get." You see before you a rather odd sight. There is a boy about 10 or 11, with sandy blonde hair and several freckles on his face. Although he is dressed in normal street clothes, the person he seems to be signaling to is not. Following behind the youth is an older individual (in his late teens/early twenties). This other man also has blonde hair, but that is all you can make of his features as he is covered everywhere else by a black bodysuit. An amazing thing about this suit is that there are various little white spots on the suit giving the impression of stars. When anyone looks at the costume for long, they notice that the stars seem to move along the costume in random patterns. The two of them sit as far away from everyone else as they can with them even sitting with a couple of seats between them. The small youth speaks as he sits. "Um hi everyone. My name is Jimmy and this is my brother Starlight. He saw your call for help and figured he should come and try to lend a hand if he could. He has a slight problem though, you see he is deaf and needs me to translate to sign language anything that he cannot read off your lips. Please if you will, stay a good distance away from him. You see if you get too close like this", Jimmy gets up and takes a few steps towards his brother. He then tries to talk again, but this time there is no sound coming from the youth's lips. At first you think he is joking, until Jimmy starts to scream. There is no sound still, until Starlight backs off a few steps and everyone then hears the loud piercing shriek of the youth. "See what I mean.
You can't even hear yourself or anything else for that matter if you get too close. You get used to it after a while, but it can be disorientating at first. So is this everyone who is going to be here? I thought the TV said the mayor was supposed to be here too? I know who the remaining members of the Freedom Squad is but what about the others here? Is there anything to eat, I'm hungry? When does..." The youth is cut short as Starlight moves a step forward and places his hand on Jimmy's shoulder. Jimmy turns and sees Starlight place a finger to his lips, and then points back to Jimmy's chair. Jimmy solemnly nods and sits down. Starlight goes back to his seat and the duo awaits what happens next (Jimmy translating for Starlight).
Spectrum's Comments: Rem9 was one of my favorite players. He portrayed Lord Liberty over in Crusaders. Starlight himself, appeared in an earlier game I ran called Strikeforce. Starlight had light based powers (invisibility, flight, force field, EB, flash, & images) and absorbed sound around him, making anyone who got too close silent.
SUBJ: SAVIJ (R) FROM: Psycho Tim 05/27/90 S#: 106057
Savij comes running in thru the doors, howls a little, and eyes any suspicious looking characters around. "FRIENDS?" he barely manages to utter out of his mouth as he sits down on a chair, but more like he clings to the edge of the seat ready for anything.
Savij is short, has blue-black scales, and resembles a Creature from the movie Aliens. He also has 2-inch claws from the end of his fingers.
Spectrum's Comments: Admittedly, I've had some very unusual PC's in my time! Savij was literally a combat monster. 50 str with nasty claws.
SUBJ: AREION FROM: AREION 05/27/90 S#: 827655
A man decked out in full battle armor strides boldly into the meeting hall. The thick, brown leather of his battle wear moves and bends as fluidly as his own flesh. It seems impossible that anything so heavy should allow movement so unimpeded. A sword hanging ominously from his side and the weather beaten scars visible on his bare arms seem to indicate that this young man is a seasoned warrior. The way his flowing crimson mantle undulates behind him, his stern demeanor, and the definite aura of magic radiating from him, give the man an almost regal appearance.
He strides right over to the Squadron members and introduces himself as AREION. When he gets to the lovely VICTRIX, he takes her hand and kisses it.
"My condolences on the loss of your teammates. It is a sad occasion when one of our own is called upon to give his life for the cause."
He hands a folded piece of paper to AMERICAN EAGLE.
"If you find yourselves in need of my assistance, you will find an elderly gentleman at this location. A Reverend Strasser. He knows how to contact me."
"Is your Mayor due to attend shortly? I've come to this 'Summit' in deference to those who serve a common good and this cities need. But, there are other pressing matters which require my attention."
After conversing with the remaining members of the Freedom Squad, AREION will go stand alongside one of the rows of chairs. Along the way he makes eye contact with STARLIGHT and Jimmy in turn. Before their eyes his 'Tough as Nails' demeanor melts away into a heart-warming smile.
When he reaches the side of the room AREION places the first two fingers of each hand to either side of his temple, and closes his eyes momentarily as though in light contemplation. (Activate Magic Sense, s10) He then stands straight, his feet at shoulder length apart, arms behind his back with his left hand clamped firmly around his right wrist.
He will politely introduce himself as AREION to anyone who ventures up to him.
Spectrum's Comments: Areion was another very good player who portrayed a whole boatload of characters in my Champions Stuff. His characters also have very long and detailed write-ups. You have to love a player who actually tries to recruit new players to your games! Areion the character was around for quite a long time and much of his backstory will be played out in the posts to come. He's a combination of a swordsman and a sorcerer.
SUBJ: Sapphire
The door opens once more and a large, powerfully built woman enters. She stands around 6'5" and muscles ripple throughout her form. What is unusual is the color of her skin and hair. Her skin is sky blue in color. Her hair is a deep ocean blue. Imagine the She-Hulk being blue instead of green and you'll get a good idea of what Sapphire looks like. She wears no regular costume, her combat gear consisting of tight fitting black spandex.
'Hail fellow warriors! I am Sapphire De Cerulean. I have to come to this village to do battle with the forces that grip it.'
I will proceed to greet those present. Several of then I give a curious look. I wonder if we have met before, but don't mention it. ;)
I carefully watch the unusual creature calling himself Savij. Being ready to attack if something starts.
Otherwise, I'll find a place to sit, the chair groaning slightly as I sit down, and wait for things to get going.
Spectrum's Comments: Sapphire, like the majority of my posts at this point in history they were written offline therefore lack the SUBJ: & FROM headers that the other players have. As Sapphire herself notes, some of the characters here originally appeared in other games. Both Sapphire and Areion were in Crusaders West as well. Sapphire lasted the entire campaign and eventually ends up in the LA Knights. Power wise, she's the Sapphire from our files. With one exception that even startled me when I first read it-- she could fly!
SUBJ: Emerald Knight FROM: Long Bo 05/27/90 S#: 473990
An average size man walks in wearing an emerald green body suit. He has silver boots and belt. You notice a pouch on one side and various other pockets along the suit. You also see a pistol of some sort and a very exotic looking rifle. He wears a mask.
"Greeting. I am the Emerald Knight. I too wish to help against the rampaging hordes of villainy. They are an abomination against all we hold dear."
::tries to regain composure::
"I will attempt my very best in this undertaking but like AREION"
::nods to Areion::
"I too have other matters that I must attend to from time to time. I would be willing to join a team but I must have time way for differing periods."
Spectrum's Comments: The Emerald Knight was a high tech hero with lots of gadgets.
SUBJ: Scarlet Sabre
From the window, comes yet another newcomer. A woman in a red and black costume lowers herself to the windowsill. Her mode of transportation appears to be an energy line projected from a sword. Opening the window, she leaps into the room.
Standing you get a good look at her. Her costume is almost pirate in design. It starts with a black body suit with red accessories. Her boots are high and pointed, with one fully extended, the other folded down and secured with a matching red scarf. Another scarf wound its way around her waist and flowed off behind her. A black belt also went around her waist to hold her sheath. A short red blouse is worn, tied off, the sleeves rolled up. Matching red gloves are worn. Finishing up the costume, another red scarf covers the upper part of her face and top of her head. Long, brown hair comes from underneath the scarf.
'I am known as the Scarlet Sabre. I assume that like the rest of you I am here to find out how I can assist is this crisis.'
::I'm in Jaime. Wow, there's more here than I expected. Save this. Find out who these people are.::
Scarlet then sheaths her sabre and takes a seat near Areion.
'I see you're a swordsman too...' :)
Spectrum's Comments: This is the very first appearance anywhere of the Scarlet Sabre. She was originally designed to be a female version of Muskateer, but quickly evolved away from that. The mental rapport with Jaime and the Sky Sabre were both there from the very beginning. Power wise, she's pretty much the same as the Scarlet you're all used to.
SUBJ: GM Update:
American Eagle shakes Mega Man's hand. "My thanks for your concern. Alas, we have no set plans yet. We have learned very little about those plotting against us. We are faced with a large mystery."
Victrix smiles while Areion kisses her hand. "You sir, are a gentlemen."
Areion fails to detect any magic in the immediate area.
Via the mind link, Jaime answers Sabre's request. 'Data saved. The only one I can identify, apart from the Freedom Squaders, is the Emerald Knight. He's a hi-tech hero, much like yourself. He's also kinda cute! If there's nothing else... The Young and the Restless is on!'
A few minutes later, the Mayor enters. 'I am pleased to see such a turn out here today. I have received a message from another hero who will not be attending. It reads:
Greetings, I have become aware of the deteriorating situation in and about L.A., and have come to the area to help. However, I would prefer to be left alone to deal with the seagoing crime myself. I will not interfere with your operations on land, to compensate for this. In the event that either of us DOES need the others' help, then it may be arranged. Until then, good luck to you.
Torpedo
The Mayor takes a few minutes to meet with each of the assembled group, although he regards Savij with some concern.
The Mayor then continues to address the room. "'By now you are all aware of the problems that we face. Matters continue to grow worse... I've just received word that the monstrosity known as Grond has just escaped from the Pacific Stronghold installation. Much damage was caused."
" The root of the problem is that LA is sight of a gang war on a supervillain level. We believe that 3 villain fractions are vying for control of the city. The fractions are Viper and Counter-Force, the Alliance of Supervillains and Villainy, Inc. The last group we have learned is headed by the Ruler of Crime."
"The city appreciates your help, but how this problem is handled is up to you. But the greatest problems at the moment is the threat to the Freedom Squad and the fate of the Protectors."
Notes: Present at the meeting is American Eagle, Jo-Tan and Victrix of the Freedom Squad. (All NPC's). The new heroes include: Wolf, Mega Man, Scarlet Sabre, Emerald Knight, Sapphire, Areion, and Starlight.

Spectrum's Comments: Torpedo was one of several soloists in New Crusaders. His solo exploits are forthcoming.
SUBJ: Captain Avenger (NPC)
After the mayor finishes speaking, an absurd sight enters the room. It is a man in a ridiculous costume. He wears read leotards, golden boots, spray painted army boots upon further examination, gold swimming trunks, gold tainted goggles and a golden cape. A large, golden 'A' is on his chest, again spray-painted.
'Greetings fellow super heroes, I am Captain Avenger!'

'I am here to combat all the bad, nasty, evil and wickedness that plagues our fair metropolis! Wanna join my team?'
Spectrum's Comments: Just me being goofy.

Scarlet removes her gloves, sliding them into her belt. She blushes slightly when Areion kisses her hand.
'Charmed I'm sure.'
Then I'll approach Emerald Knight.
'Hi, guy! I hear the you're a into gadgets and such... Me too! Y'all can just call me Scarlet.'
'So what's it gonna be guys? Going to join forces or what? If you guys are gonna form a team, count me in! I think I'm in hunk heaven!'
SUBJ: Sapphire
Listens quietly to the Mayor.
'This Grond appears to be a most worth opponent.'
I then approach the man who calls himself the American Eagle.
'If you will have me, I will be glad to assist you. My strength is great, my skin nigh invulnerable. I am more than willing to hunt down these assassin dogs!'

When she mentions dogs I look at her in surprise.

When the mayor finishes speaking, Areion approaches him to ask what assistance he can offer to individuals who may wish to form an L.A. based hero team and will ask him to spread the word that he's accepting applicants for the his team: 'The LA KNIGHTS'.
He will leave a copy of the address he gave the Freedom Squad with the mayor.
Having spoken his peace, Areion will politely excuse himself, and take his leave.

After a quick instant-change, I'll try to find the owner of the curio shop that was demolished by that familiar sounding warrior maiden. I'll present the man with a business card from my own shop, Chandlers, and use purchasing anything he has left intact (at a fair price) as a cover for needing him for details in apparent 'idle' conversation.
Once I've finished this, it's another instant change back into hero ID and I'll check out the remains of the store (using magic sense spell to pick up any traces she might have left behind or perhaps find what ever it was she was looking for)
New Crusaders #2 - The Welcoming Committee"
Inside the meeting room at City Hall, the Super Summit is coming to a close. A few heroes have offered to join up with the Freedom Squad. Some appear to have chosen to join their own groups. Things are kind of up in the air at the moment.
Suddenly, the large picture window is shatter by an energy blast. Looking outside, you can see a small group of villains attacking!
They are Bulldozer, Green Dragon, Foxbat, Dragonfly, Armadillo, Pulsar, Ogre and Sunburst.
Bulldozer - Awright! The chance to bust some heads!
Ogre - Ogre smash!
Sunburst - Hmm... Looks like a good opportunity make a few points...
It appears that these villains are not working together.
SUBJ: GM Notes:
Here's a brief rundown on the villains for those unfamiliar with them.
Ogre is superstrong, but has the mentally of a child with a temper tantrum.
Pulsar projects beams of light and heat.
Armadillo wears a battlesuit that amplifies his strength. He was a variety of powers through the armor.
Dragonfly resembles a cross between a man and a dragonfly, not a pretty sight. He fires blasts of bioelectricity.
Green Dragon is a super martial artist.
Sunburst is well known as a megalomaniac villain. He is very powerful projecting solar energy.
Bulldozer is like Ogre, but slightly smarter... He can make complete sentences...
Foxbat is the wielder of the dread Foxbat Gun and other bizarre gadgets. Foxy is well known as a loony villain who thinks that he's in a comic book.

SUBJ: Starlight FROM: REM9 06/03/90 S#: 490117
Upon seeing the entrance of the villains (and missing hearing Bulldozer and Ogre's delightful and well pronounced speeches, darn:) Starlight quickly grabs Jimmy and throws him under the table as well. He then puts up his force field, and heads straight for Dragonfly. Not one for long speeches himself, for obvious reasons, Starlight lets out a blinding attack (Flashes) before he fires his photon blast at the mutant dragonfly.
SUBJ: AREION FROM: AREION 06/03/90 S#: 507271
Throwing his arms wide, Areion casts his Mark of the Warrior spell. Before charging into battle, he pauses to make eye contact with Victrix and shouts:
"See to the mayor and the boy!!"
His voice is authoritative and demanding, but in an imploring rather than an arrogant sense.
Looking over the assembly of villains, I choose my opponent and race for Armadillo.
"You will come to curse the day you first heard the name AREION, Villain!"
Areion will attack with the sword's edged attack (MP: s1, all levels to OCV, and backed with enough strength to achieve maximum damage). If at any point, Armadillo appears to be bleeding profusely switch to HTH attack (MP: s3, levels to OCV, backed by 30 STR)
If anyone should take potshots at him before reaches his chosen adversary he'll abort to missile deflect then continue his charge.
I'll also keep a watchful eye on the rest of the battle. If any of the other heroes seem to be outmatched and doing badly, I'll disengage just long enough to try to even the odds with a blast of Solomic Hellfire. (And be prepared to abort to a defensive maneuver if necessary and possible. Don't forget to reactivate Mark of the Warrior before reentering hand to hand.)
SUBJ: Savij FROM: Psycho Tim 06/03/90 S#: 122008
"Huh?" seemed to say Savij as he sees the enemies break in. "SAVIJ KILL!" yell Savij as he moves at top speed to attack Green Dragon with his claws. Also he is slipping into his Berserk battle rage to fend off any other attackers with maximum ferocity.
Subj: Sapphire
'At last! The chance to prove myself in battle!'
Overjoyed by the approaching combat, Saph takes to the air, flying out the destroyed window. She flies towards the one called Sunburst.
'You are known to me, villain. Your powers are a most fitting test to prove my metal!'
Saph flies towards the villain and will engage in HTH combat. She will engage this foe until either he or she falls.
SUBJ: Emerald Knight (R) FROM: Long Bo 06/03/90 S#: 823175
As the villains come crashing through the window I pull out my pistol and 'biter', and choose a target: Foxbat.
I hold the biter towards him until it locks. I release it and dive at an oblique angle to him. As I finish my roll I fire a kinetic stun bolt at him.
If the biter and stun bolts are effective then I will continue firing. If they are not working very well, then I will do a 1-handed front handspring (holstering my pistol with the other) and go into a series of kicking attacks.
If I see anyone in trouble, I will loose a biter at his or her opponent. Biter: A small rectangular 'robot' that attacks an opponent independently.

As soon as I hear the crash I get inv then change into wolf form running at top speed I let sav know that a am attacking green dragon too.

'Thanks alot guys! The leaves Ogre, Bulldozer and Pulsar for me! Chivalry is truly dead!'
Looks like I have my work cut out for me. Once the way out the window is clear, I'll look for something to shoot a energy line too, a light pole will do. Doing that, I'll swing down to the street, doing a move thru on anyone who happens to get in the way.
'Hey, Pulse-puss! You're mother dress you funny!'
I'll attempt to goad Pulsar into firing at me. Using my Sabre, I'll attempt to re-direct his attack towards Ogre, hopefully causing Ogre to attack Pulsar. If that works, I'll then devote my attention to Bulldozer. I'll alternate between EB's and swings with the Sabre, attempting to keep him off balance. I'll only use the KA if the other attacks seem to have little effect on him.
SUBJ: Captain Avenger (NPC)
'So, the forces of evil dare to rear their ugly head? Have no fear, Captain Avenger is here!'
The good Captain rushes in towards the conflict, only to trip on his cape. He falls face first to the floor, knocking himself out.
Spectrum's Comments: Mercifully, that was the last appearance of Captain Avenger. Ever.
SUBJ: Mega Man (R) FROM: Tenne Stud 06/06/90 S#: 796437
Upon seeing the villains enter going after Pulsar using my martial arts. :>
SUBJ: GM Notes:
American Eagle stands before Sapphire and Wolf. 'I know little about both of you, but these are desperate times. This is a most dangerous situation. Be prepared for the worst.'
During the mayor's speech, American Eagle is silent, listening intently to his words. Jo-Tan is likewise silent, while Victrix seems to be keeping a playful eye of Areion.
After the villains make their presence known, American Eagle speaks again.
'Fear not, Sabre. You forget that the rest of the Freedom Squad is ready for action! Be careful everyone! These are dangerous villains!'
American Eagle and Jo-Tan cautiously enter the fray.
Victrix looks are Areion for a moment after he shouts orders to her. She seems upset for a moment, but then settles down.
'Very well, Areion. I shall guard the innocents.'
New Crusaders #3 - "Trial by Fire"
The Super Summit has been invaded by a group of villains, presenting the first challenge to LA's new defenders...
Sapphire flies out at Sunburst.
"What is this? They send a mere woman to battle Sunburst?! Be gone woman!'
A powerful blast of fire hits Sapphire, driving her back. The fire burns her, but she continues on. Reaching her foe, Sapphire tags him with a powerful punch! Sunburst rockets back across the street, disappearing into a building.
The Emerald Knight produces a biter and throws it at Foxbat. The little device flies forward, firing blasts of energy at Foxbat. Foxbat is struck several times, but somehow is unaffected.
"Attacking me, the great Foxbat with a flying bug! Your editor will hear about this!"
'Bat pulls out his dread Ping Pong ball gun and takes aim at Emerald Knight. A ping-pong ball fires out of the gun, but misses EK.
Scarlet Sabre projects an energy line from her sword and swings into the fray. She lands near Pulsar and proceeds to taunt him.
"Nobody talks to Pulsar like that!!"
Pulsar fires a energy blast at Sabre, but she is prepared for the attack. Her sword re-directs the attack, reflecting it towards Ogre. Ogre is hit by this unexpected attack.
Enraged, Ogre leaps towards Pulsar and proceeds to pummel him into submission.
American Eagle and Jo-Tan team up against Bulldozer. Eagle gets his attention, while Jo-Tan moves in for the attack. Bulldozer punches Jo-tan, but does little damage. Jo-Tan puts a bear hug on Bulldozer, controlling the villain.
Wolf and Savij rush the Green Dragon, but the master martial artist is prepared. Savij leaps, but Green Dragon uses the creatures' own momentum, tossing him down the street.
Next, the Dragon dodges Wolf's attack. Delivering a lightning quick punch, Dragon drives Wolf to his knees.
Mega man finds his chosen target already being attended to by Ogre, he decides to try his luck with Foxbat, but misses with his punch.
Unexpectedly, American Eagle is struck by an unseen attacker. He falls to the ground and is unmoving.
Areion flies to combat Armadillo. He connects, hurting the villain. Armadillo swings wildly and misses badly. Areion swings again, this time his sword biting deeper into his foe, knocking Armadillo out.
Dragonfly hits Starlight with a blast of bioelectricity. Starlight counters with a flash, blinding Dragonfly.
However, guided by his antenna, Dragonfly attempts to sting Starlight with his stinger, but misses. Starlight blasts Dragonfly, dropping the villain.
Sunburst explodes back on the scene. He blasts Sapphire again, but she shrugs it off easier then the first. Putting all her strength into one punch, she unloads on Sunburst, sending he villain rocketing back. He crashes to the street a block and a half away!
Scarlet Sabre energizes her sword and advances on Ogre. The energy sword slashes into the muscular villain, knocking him out.
Foxbat shoots his Foxbat Gun again, destroying the biter. Emerald Knight fires his own gun, hurting Foxbat. Mega man rushes in, downing the villain with a punch.
SUBJ: GM Notes:
So far, so good. Bulldozer, Foxbat, Dragonfly, Armadillo, Pulsar, Ogre and Sunburst are down, but could recover anytime... ;)
Only Green Dragon is still up.

I will fake being knocked out if green body or foot comes near me bite and claw for all I am worth.
SUBJ: Sapphire
...Stands silent for a moment, appreciating her handy work. She then flies forward; making sure Sunburst is down for the count. If he truly is unconscious, I'll try to find something to bind him with.
Completing that, I'll return to the battle site, engaging any villain still standing.
SUBJ: WARLOCK ENTERS FROM: DMG 06/12/90 S#: 840207
Out of thin air appears Warlock (who is dressed from head to toe in a shimmering multi-color robe with a large gun and backpack) muttering to himself how he hopes he's not late again. As he looks up he sees the placed trashed with a crazy Kung-fu guy jumping around.
"Guess I'm late" Warlock say's as he teleports behind him and fires his gun on stun. Warlock will also be on the lookout for anything that could have k.o. the other hero.
Spectrum's Comments: In spite of the name, Warlock was not a spellcaster. He was a gadgeteer who had a power pool he couldn't control that altered probabilities.
SUBJ: Scarlet Sabre
'Way ta go, big, green and ugly!'
Sabre almost feels remorse having tricked Ogre into beatin' up Pulsar, and then having to take him out herself. Only for a moment! ;)
Hmmm, wonder who wasted wings...?
::Jaime?... Jaime! Pay attention! Scan the area! It seems we have a mystery guest villian lurking about!::

"Blast, those are expensive."
Noticing nobody visible could have taken out American Eagle, I take out a biter and pop it open. I remove the energy magnifier and replace it with a sonic coil careful not to disturb the guidance sensors. I do this quickly.
"I hope I didn't make any mistakes on this sonic sensor."
I hold it in 1 hand and my stun gun in the other. I point the sensor around the room until something shows up on the sensor that I cannot see. I then fire my stun gun.

Again I will down a foe!! Go after Green Dragon with my martial arts :>
Then making sure no villain gets up!!!

Upon downing Armadillo, Areion turns ready to aid his fellow heroes only to find most the villains already defeated.
"Impressive work Sabre!! You handle yourself well...If you'd like to join me as an L.A. Knight, I would be honored!"
As he stands admiring the assembly's work, something catches his attention.
"That's not one of the villains... AMERICAN EAGLE!!!"
I'll rush to his side, and check for a pulse. If he appears to be in critical condition (ie: 0 to negative Body) I'll throw caution to the wind and fly him to the nearest medical facility at full non-combat velocity. Otherwise it may be best not to move him.
New Crusaders #4 - "Trial by Fire: Conclusion"
The battle continues!
Spying a green foot near him, Wolf leaps to the attack! He wraps himself around Green Dragon's leg, clawing and biting. Dragon falls the ground unconscious, his leg bloodied.
Further down the street, Sapphire approaches the downed Sunburst. Suddenly, he sits up, hitting her with a tremendous burst of fire! Sapphire is unconscious before hitting the ground.
"Bah! No points for the contest will be won here today!" With that, Sunburst turns and flies off.
Back at the main battle, Warlock appears out of nowhere. Seeing Ogre start to rise, he blasts him with his gun, putting the villain down again.
Realizing that there is a villain unaccounted for, the Scarlet Sabre contacts her 'partner'.
Via the mind link, Jaime quickly responds, "Scanning the area... I'm missing my stories you know... A-ha! There is someone your missing... A miniature woman! Cross referencing... It is the villainess Shrinker, the former Crusader!"
Altering his Biter, the Emerald Knight quickly locates Shrinker. He is momentarily surprised to see her, being that she is about 6 inches tall!
Aiming, he blasts her with his stun gun.
By now, all the villains are down. And those who are beginning to come around are put out again.
Areion spots the downed American Eagle and rushes to his aid. Eagle is only unconscious, and not seriously hurt. He recovers after a few moments.
'Impressive work, all of you! We may yet turn the tide of villainy!'
SUBJ: GM Notes:
Well, you've survived your opening battle! No one took any BODY, and you all are back to max STUN shortly.
What happens next is up to you!
So far I have Sapphire and Wolf joining up with the Freedom Squad. Areion is also forming his own group, the LA Knights.
Now what?

'Curse me for a novice!'
The big blue woman shakes off the effects of Sunburst's cowardly attack.
'Coward! You do not know the true meaning of honor! You shall not escape so lucky next time!'
Flying back to city hall, I'll locate the rest of the Freedom Squad.
'Good luck with your team, Areion! Perhaps he shall engage in battle again.'
I'll then go see what American Eagle wishes us to do.

Scarlet gives Areion a playful look.
'You're not to bad yourself, big guy! Count me in!'
So far this group is off to a good start. An interesting mix of old and new.. Ancient weapons with hi-tech.

Walks up to Areion
'Well, fearless leader, tell us more about your group... Ya got a base yet?'

Cleaning away any blood that may have gotten on The Sword of Vandries, Areion turns his attention to Sabre and The Emerald Knight.
"I would be honored to call you both teammates and friends!"
"I already have a suitable location for a headquarters. It's an old stone structure in a run down section of town. It's rather large...plenty of room, with a little work, it should serve our needs well! Also, I hope by setting up our base there we can help breathe life back into the community."
"If you have need of technical equipment, you will have to provide it yourself, or perhaps the mayor can help here as I have no access to such things"
"I am sorry Sabre, but I really do have pressing business to attend to at the moment."
Areion will give them both a copy of the address given to the Freedom Squad and the Mayor.
"Please meet me at this location at 10PM two days from today. All will be explained then."
"Ah...I think see another possible recruit."
Areion will kiss Sabre's hand and shake Emeralds before making his was across the room towards Jimmy and the one called Starlight, but is intercepted by Sapphire along the way.
"The dangers put there are a threat to us all. I'm sure our paths will cross again. Good luck with the Freedom Squad, they have themselves a fine recruit!"
Approaching the brothers, Areion places a hand on the younger boy's shoulder and passes his free hand in a sweeping motion in front of Starlight. The air glows and shimmers until shapes begin to forms and take action as though on a television screen.
The image shows Starlight, Sabre, The Emerald Knight and himself fighting villains side by side. The armor clad warrior smiles, anticipating that Starlight will get his meaning and extends his hand in friendship.
"So, what do you say? Would you like to be an LA Knight?!?"
Before leaving, Areion will make a general announcement that the Knights are looking for recruits and will give any who seem interested a copy of the address given to the others and the same instructions.
On his way out, He'll make one last stop to talk to Victrix.
"I must apologize for my tone earlier. I meant no insult; I was merely concerned for the safety of the innocents. If you and your teammates are ever in need, you have but to call and the LA Knights will be there!"
SUBJ: Starlight (R) FROM: REM9 06/17/90 S#: 819854
At the conclusion of the vision created by Areion there is a somewhat angry/confused little voice coming from the youth near Areion. "Hey what about me? Where my brother goes I go see? We are a team Starlight and me? I am the brains and he provides the power. It is ei...." It is then that Jimmy notices that Starlight has moved a fraction of an inch closer (being careful not to include Areion in the soundless field as well). When Jimmy calms down, Starlight will back away and start signing to his brother. Jimmy translates. "Starlight says that he would like that very much. He is new to superheroing and thinks he can learn alot from someone as skilled as you. He asks that you forgive his younger brother's outburst, as he is very over protective of me. Hey what do you mean over protective? I do my best to keep you out of trouble that's all. If it weren't for me you would not even have come to this meeting......."
After getting the address from Areion, Starlight will see if there is anything else he can do to help out the Freedom Squad here, and if not return home to the deaf school with his brother.
SUBJ: WARLOCK FROM: DMG 06/17/90 S#: 23758
Seeing the 2 groups form WARLOCK will make a quick choice and decide to join the L.A. Knights. Hearing he has to be there in 2 days Warlock will go over to the mayor and ask if he would be willing to give some technical equipment to L.A.K. (especially repair tools) Then after that has been settled Warlock will make his way to the meeting place at the appointed time.
SUBJ: Savij FROM: Psycho Tim 06/18/90 S#: 498092
For a while Savij stalks around angrily, and then, brutally slashes Green Dragon across the face.30 seconds later, he seems much calmer and says, "Savij fight..."he pauses for a while "Drug men!" he utters, "Not... Join...Group! "he adds "Uless... help Savij... Kill all... Drugmen!" with this, he sits down on the Ground and checks all of the Fallen heroes bodies.
SUBJ: Scarlet Sabre
'Okay, Boss Man. I'll be here.'
As Sabre walks around, she notices Savij freaking out on Green Dragon.
'Geez, somebody should do something about that little Savage...' :)
I walk towards Emerald Knight and engage in conversation with him....

Time slip: several minutes into the past.
After listening to Jimmys hurt words, Areion knells down so he can look the boy eye-to-to.
"I had a brother once...when I was about your age. He needed me, but powers beyond my control took me away from him. I would never do to you, what was done to me!"
Time Slip: roughly one minute forward
"Welcome...ah...I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name...Warlock. Welcome to the LA Knights, Warlock."
Time Slip: Back to the present
Once I've left the gathering, proceed to the wrecked curio shop, as set back in Post No. 1
SUBJ: GM Notes:
The Mayor thanks you all for your assistance. The city does have abandoned buildings that the heroes could use, but upon hearing that Areion already has a HQ, doesn't offer any.
"As for equipment and tools, I'll see what I can do. I can't make any promises on assistance at this time... The city is in the midst of a crisis, our budget out of balance... etc..."
American Eagle thanks everyone for coming and wishes the LA Knights the best of luck.
After hearing about Grond's escape and subsequent appearance at a nearby beach, he decides that the Freedom Squad should see what they can do to repel the monster.

It's decision time for you all.
The Freedom Squad members are going off to engage Grond. (Sapphire and Wolf).
What are the members of the LA Knights going to do? (Areion, Starlight, Emerald Knight, Scarlet Sabre and Warlock) I already have Areion's action. Are the rest of you going to wait two days before getting together again?

Before we leave I will tell American Eagle I want to talk to him and show him my SI and only him. I will stay in wolf form then at the beach, I will use my invisibility and wolf skill to locate and rear attack Grond if he is endangering anyone.

Time Slip: While Starlight looks around, Jimmy speaks to Areion. "I guess then that you know how I feel Mr. Areion sir. Starlight might be the one with superpowers, but because of those powers he's kinda easily tricked at times. He hasn't been around people like me, and trusts them a little too much sometimes. I worry about him. He's the only family I got. Please look out for him when I am not around."
Back to the Future (oops sorry Present): Upon 'reading' about Grond on the beach, Starlight, through Jimmy, will answer American Eagle. "I am sorry sir, but I can not help you at this time. I cannot explain why not, but I hope you understand. I hope that you find out who is hunting down your group, and if there is anything that you could think of that I could do to help you out, please let me know." While Jimmy is relaying Starlight's message, Starlight will create an illusion out of Jimmy's sight but so American Eagle can see, of Jimmy with a broken arm. He pleadingly hopes that the hero will understand.
After this Starlight will take his brother home (as per last response). For the next two days, Starlight will remain until nightfall each night, when after everyone is asleep, he will fly off invisibly and silently into the night to get a little more practice with his powers before having to meet with the LA Knights.

having 2 days to waste Warlock will look around and ask if anyone is doing anything. If not then he will try to find out where to get a very powerful generator. After the 2 days he will head to the meeting place.
