Welcome to the Borderlands! This game completes my trilogy of D&D games that I ran on Q set in and around the Kingdom of Cynalon. Unlike the Frontier and Sword of Doom, Borderlands took place in the Western part of the Kingdom and began in the City of Elcadan. (Players and readers of the New Frontier Games in the forum will find many familiar things in these posts!)
Unlike the other two games, I took a different track in creating this game. The base concept was how would such a thing-- adventurers going forth to fight monsters and acquire treasure-- really work as opposed to the way it does in your typical group game? Characters of different levels and alignments would freely interact with each other for one thing. Another is that instead of simply going along with others, each PC did what they wanted to do.
To accomplish this, Borderlands characters started out with some experience and magic under their belt. Each new player simply arrived in Elcadan to seek their fortune. What they did after that was totally up to them! Characters could be any race, any class and any alignment! See if you can guess who the evil aligned characters are in this game!
Once the PC's formed into small groups, or left Elcadan, they were split out into their own side posts. The main Borderland posts were for the new arrivals and mostly those exploring Elcadan. So let's go check out the Borderlands and meet a whole slew of new heroes and villains!
