Titan is a mutant with the ability to grow to giant size. While grown, Titan has tremendous strength and physical toughness. Even at his normal size Titan is still superhumanly strong.

Joe Timonson grew up a quiet, unassuming man. His first love was working on and designing ground and air vehicles of all types. He excelled at his studies and graduated from college with an engineering degree. Most considered his quiet manner to be a sign of arrogance when it actually concealed a very shy man.

Joe discovered his mutant abilities when he was a teenager. The first noticeable sign was the fantastic strength he possessed. Concerned about this development, but also quite intrigued by it, Joe kept his abilities a secret. That all changed when Joe came across an accident site. A busload of school children had crashed, causing the bus to flip on its side and was on fire! Joe had always loved children and the site was more than he could bear. In the adrenalin surge that followed, Joe grew to twenty-five feet in height and was even stronger than before. He easily rescued the children, but fled the scene before he could be photographed.

The media dubbed the hero the Titan and the name stuck. Joe created a costume for himself and became the hero known as Titan. He had many adventures in the Dallas area and around Texas and frequently encountered the other local heroes. When approached by Captain Lightning about joining the team he was forming. Titan accepted and became one of the Superior Seven.

Titan became the head vehicle designer for the Superior Seven, complimenting Captain Lightnings' electronics expertise and Centurion's weapons designing. Together they quickly designed the team's personal transports, the 'horses' and the team jets: the Lone Stars. The team is currently up to Lone Star 3. A recent addition was the Double J, short for Jump Jet, a small long-range transport for up to two passengers.

Personally, Titan is very much the 'gentle giant' type. He loves to entertain children whenever possible. He finds Centurion to be too violent for his tastes and that Earthquake's concern for the environment sometimes leads him to do things that are not the best for the general public. Joe has a secret crush on the Sorceress, but has never let it show, choosing to worship her from afar.
