Shamrock is superstrong and highly resistant to damage. He is skilled in hand-to-hand combat, particularly in boxing. As Shamrock's name suggests, he is incredibly lucky as well.

Notes:

Barney was always a scrapper and something of a troublemaker back in his native Ireland. He was in and out of trouble constantly. Remarkably, he was always lucky enough to avoid any serious trouble. One day Barney's luck seemed to run out when an errant container of toxic waste was accidentally splashed over him. The doctors gave him little chance to survive, but somehow Barney pulled through with flying colors. Instead of killing him, the chemicals mutated Barney giving him superhuman strength and toughness.

Adopting the identity of Shamrock, Barney went to work for the IRA in the fight to remove the British from Ireland. It didn't take long for the British to respond by sending the British hero team the New Knights of the Round Table after Shamrock. Outmatched, Barney headed for the United States. In the US, Shamrock works to secure funds and weapons for the IRA and continues to fight for them overseas.

During his world travels, Shamrock encountered the terrorist Scorpia, who also called the Emerald Isle her home. There was an instant attraction between the two and they became lovers. Scorpia tried to get Shamrock into Terror Incorporated, but Professor Muerte would have none of it. Scorpia didn't make an issue of it at the time, but it eventually did play a factor in her betrayal of Terror Incorporated.

Some years after their original encounter, Shamrock encountered Scorpia once again in Los Angeles during the Crimson Claw's Great Supervillain Contest. Together with Spectrum and Mind Slayer, they formed Terror Unlimited. Using his connections, Shamrock secured a place for the team to stay while Scorpia plots and plans her reign of terror. One step of her plan involved doing a favor for Iron Maiden at LawTech leading the team into conflict with Morning Star, Shockwave, and the Scarlet Sabre. Recently, Terror Unlimited raided a local VIPER Nest in search of weaponry.

While at the Thugmaster's Elite graduation ceremonies, Shamrock and the rest of Terror Unlimited came face to face with Terror Incorporated. Battle erupted a moment later. Shamrock squared off against Giganto and was soundly defeated by the monstrous brute. It was the first time that Shamrock had encountered someone stronger and tougher than he was.
