Known Powers:

Psi-Queen/Esper is a powerful mentalist with the ability to attack other minds or control them. She can also locate a particular mind out of a crowd and generate a protective force field.

Notes:

At one time the woman who became Esper was a normal girl. She strayed too close to a meteorite impact site and a fragment of the meteorite became lodged in her throat. Microscopic psionic entities living inside the meteorite quickly spread throughout the young woman's body and attempted to gain control of her body. The invaders ultimately failed, but the process did bestow psionic powers to the woman. On that day Esper was born.

Esper considered herself to be far and away superior to normal humans. She carries a great deal of anger towards the world from the time before she had powers. Now as Esper, she would do as she pleased and take what she wanted. She became a supervillainess and psionic for hire. The criminal organization known as PSI attempted to capture Esper, but ultimately failed.

Recently, Esper accepted a job from Power Crusher to retrieve electronics devices from a Henderson Electronics Warehouse. They succeeded in their mission, but later encountered the Avengers. Esper was overwhelmed by Nightingale and Muskateer and captured. She was confined to the Ryker's Island Stronghold.

Using information stolen from the New York PRIMUS Headquarters, Lady Darkness had covertly taken control of Ryker's Island. Once her control was absolute, the inmates were released with the idea of becoming more slaves for the Empress of Darkness. Esper wanted no part of this and managed to escape with the reluctant aid of Dark Seraph.

Esper found herself alone and penniless in New York City. Then she recalled a previous job that had been offered to her through her underworld connections. With that in mind, Esper made her way to the Wild Cards headquarters. Fearful that Lady Darkness and her minions would come after her, Esper reached an agreement with Wild Cards management and became Psi-Queen.

A crown/helmet combination was created to conceal Esper's glowing eyes and the meteorite fragment in her neck. A royal persona was created to keep in tune with Esper's superiority complex. A scepter was added and Psi-Queen makes it appear that her mental powers are augmented by the device. A red wig was worn and a new costume was created to complete the disguise.

With the exception of the Sword of Justice, none of the other Wild Cards are aware Psi-Queen's true identity. Exactly how long Psi-Queen will remain in the Wild Cards or if her true identity will be revealed is unknown. She is pleased with the money she is making and is beginning to like being famous.

Esper was created by George MacDonald and first appeared in the Enemies book. Later, she was upgraded to 4th Edition by Scott Bennie in Classic Enemies. Psi-Queen was created and modified by Spectrum.
