She can erect microwave force fields and can fly. Microwave can also see through any object that microwaves can penetrate.
Notes:
Mary Beth Williams was an especially bright teen who excelled in sciences. This was when she discovered that she was a mutant that could manipulate the microwave portion of the electromagnet spectrum. Mary Beth kept her discovery a secret until she had fully experimented with her powers. It was fortunate that she withheld telling her parents about her mutant powers. While testing her desolidification abilities, she discovered that her father was secretly a member of Genocide, the well known anti-mutant organization. Beth bided her time as she was nearly out of high school anyway. She went off to college and never returned home.
While in college, she met Gerald Williams and the two fell in love. Shortly after graduation, the two were married. A year and a half later, Mary gave birth to twins, a boy, Robert, and a girl, Amanda. The children are currently four years old and neither shows any sign of possessing super powers.
After college, Mary Beth accepted a position at Campbell Industries International. Her secret was revealed when Agents of RAVEN attempted to steal a project Mary Beth was working on. The security cameras caught her changing into Microwave. Much to Mary Beth's relief, Sheryl Campbell, the CII CEO, was delighted to have a superheroine in her employ. It fit in nicely with an idea that Sheryl had developed to form a hero team composed of scientists. Microwave became the first member of the Freedom League, a team she serves on to this day.
In combat, Microwave tends to hover around the edges, preferring to play sniper instead of getting into physical combat.
Microwave has partcipated in many adventures since joining the Freedom League. She helped the Scarlet Sabre and FIST protect a CII project from the forces of the Thugmaster's Elite, VIPER, and Iron Maiden. Microwave assisted the Avengers when they raided a local DEMON base. Recently she helped drive off the forces of Feurgeson the Great who was attempting to kidnap Jessica Flynn.
Microwave was created by Spectrum and Muskateer, with the art honors going to Muskateer.
