Known Powers:

Lady Bale is a normal woman whose physical abilities are amplified by her collection of magic items. She can also cast minor magic spells to further increase her powers. Among the magic items normally employed by Lady Bale is the Sword of Kane and Gloves of Power which increase her natural strength and allow her to toss blasts of energy. Her magical cloak permits her to fly, while her boots increase her speed and agility. Her amulet allows her to deflect incoming attacks.

It is normal for teenagers to rebel against their parents. What set Sandra Bane and her sister Sheila apart from most teenagers is that they turned to the arts of black magic to find fulfillment. The two rapidly learned spells and were eager to try them out on the unsuspecting public around them. In time, the two grew powerful enough to summon a true demon.

Fortunately, the sisters were wise enough to summon the beast into a Circle of Power, thus imprisoning it. Sandra was intrigued by the promises of wealth and power the demon promised if the sisters would release it. Sheila was repulsed. Acting behind Sandra's back, Sheila dispelled the demon, sending it back to its pit. Sandra was enraged and considered her sister to be an enemy ever since.

After the incident with the demon, Sandra Bane dropped out of school and left home to acquire more personal power. In time she adopted the name of Bale. Bale's quest to uncover magical artifacts caused her to have frequent run-ins with the Sorceress, who also collected magic items. Bale was frequently defeated by the Sorceress, but still managed to put together an impressive collection of magical artifacts, such as the Sword of Kane, Boots of Agility, and Gloves of Power.

As Bale's reputation grew, she attracted the attention of the magical organization DEMON. In her quest to gain more personal power, Bale accepted Lord Thorne's invitation and joined DEMON. The powers that Bale possessed secured her a position of High Morbane in the DEMON hierarchy giving her the title of Lady Bale. As Lady Bale, Sandra was assigned to run the Los Angeles DEMON base with Lord Abyss. In spite of being in service of DEMON, Lady Bale continued to put her own personal goals before those of DEMON. This annoyed Lord Abyss to no end.

During the Great Supervillain Contest, Lady Bale sought to possess the Emerald Eyes of Azog but lacked the raw power to be a successful participant in the Crimson Claw's contest. Instead, she sought to ally herself with someone who was more powerful: the dreaded Black Paladin. Paladin was amused by Lady Bale's proposal and her attempts to seduce him, but did accept Bale's service.

Black Paladin and Lady Bale were not the only villains who were attempting to capture the Emerald Eyes of Azog. Other master villains had the same notion as they battled to possess the artifacts. In the end, Black Paladin acquired one of the Lesser Eyes while Borealis claimed the Greater Eye. Unknown to Black Paladin and Lady Bale, the Greater Eye actually created a gateway to the plane where Azog and his demonic underlings had been imprisoned. The Children of Azog exploded from the gateway and proceeded to kill anything in their path.

Lady Bale had no protection against the assault and was half dead by the time Black Paladin reached her. Using the power of his Lesser Eye, Paladin healed Bale's wounds and in the process bound her to him. Lady Bale awoke a changed woman. Black Paladin was now her unquestioned master and she would do anything to serve him. Her own plans and goals were quickly forgotten.

The evil duo attempted to take the Crown of the Elements from the Empress, but were dismayed to discover that the crown was now powerless. Its powers had been transferred into the Empress. Undaunted, the duo next took over the Los Angeles DEMON base. Paladin killed Lord Abyss during the conflict. He is now the unchallenged ruler of the DEMON base.

From there, the dark duo decided to travel to Dallas, Texas and avenge themselves for the defeats inflicted upon them by the Superior Six. Paladin's plan worked and he had learned the location of a secret cache of magic items possessed by the Sorceress. While she was glad at her master's success, Lady Bale was horrified to learn that Black Paladin planned on using the Lesser Eye to bind the Superior Six to him, much like he had done to her. Only she was worthy enough to serve her master!

Ultimately they were ultimately defeated when Captain Lightning shocked the dark knight into submission. Lady Bale used the opportunity to escape with her master, without any of the Superior Six becoming slaves to Black Paladin. Presumably, the duo will return to Los Angeles and bide their time until they strike again.
