Known Powers:

Kimberly Matthews is a mutant born with the ability to make herself invisible and intangible. Later, the Crystal attempted to siphon off Firestar's powers and give them to Kimberly. The process worked to a point, allowing her to create fiery constructs, such as a bow and arrows for long range attacks, a sword and shield for hand to hand combat, and even a fiery winged horse for transportation.

Using her abilities to become invisible and intangible, Kimberly became a cat burglar known as the Ghost. One evening, she chose the wrong target and inadvertently attempted to rob Lord Shadow, one of the leaders of the organization known as DEMON. He spared Kimberly, on the promise that she would now work for him. Over the next several months, Kimberly used her powers to steal several shards of a mysterious crystal. Once she had acquired four such shards, Lord Shadow attempted to put them together with disastrous results. Merging the four shards awoke the alien Crystal who immediately absorbed Kim, Lord Shadow, along with Lady Zee and the Dreadknight into itself. The Crystal absorbed the memories of the three humans, the Dreadknight being a magical construct had no intelligence of its own, leaving them little more than vegetables.

Later, when the last shards were in place, the Crystal summoned back the beings it had absorbed to use as agents. During this process, the Crystal was attacked by the Avengers. The Crystal was attempting to absorb Firestar into itself, when the process was interrupted by Muskateer. At the same time, the Crystal was funneling Firestar's powers into Kimberly. In spite of the transference being broken, it worked to a point. Kimberly gained the ability to create constructs composed of fire. Typically, they are weapons that Kim uses in combat. The Crystal renamed Kimberly as Ghost Fire to better reflect her powers.

Ghost Fire is currently enthralled by the Crystal and incapable of independent thought.

The Crystal itself is a magical artifact from the world of Terra Nova in another dimension. In this other dimension, the Crystal's creator is attempting to destroy his foe Lady Darkness, the ruler of a vast empire. For reasons yet unrevealed, Lady Darkness was exiled to Earth's Dimension. The Crystal was sent to Earth to slay Lady Darkness in fragments. Once complete, the Crystal acquired it's own agents to carry out its mission.

Kim has a twin sister with identical powers who is currently known as the Silver Spectre of the Wild Cards.
