Having spent a quiet night on board the YV-560 waiting out the storm, the crew is ready to depart the following morning. The ship had been equipped with camping gear and two tents as they had been expected to hunt in the forested areas for their quarries. Now that they found that wouldn't be necessary, the camping gear would still prove useful due to the two day trek to the base from their landing point.
Doctor Maronea's datapad is quite precis with direction, so there is no trouble in locating the direction to make their way. It's not long before the team arrives at a long steep ravine. Heading down the ravine carefully and then back up the other side seems to be the best course of action looking at the topographic map. Meanwhile, the fog has now dispensed and been replaced by heat, humidity and biting insects. This begins to put a strain on the team physically.
Suddenly seemingly out of nowhere, Proiah Pron in the lead is attacked by a large canine and knocked prone. In the ensuing chaos, Spanner and the droid FL-AR3 lose their footing and tumble down the ravine. They come to rest quite a distance from the others, part way down the slope.
The crew manage to defeat the creature, stunning it in submission and Garet tends to some of Pron's wounds. Kilian, meanwhile, inspects the creature and finds odd scaring on the creature. Garet confirms this is more surgical than natural and in fact this is a female and has been spayed. FL-AR3 inspects his internal knowledge base and shares that this is in fact a vornskyr and that the alphas are usually female. There was a brief talk of keeping the specimen, until learning that it was not capable of reproduction which is a condition of their contract from Teemo the Hutt.
Eventually the team sets up camp and sets up a watch. No one notices anything during the night until just before dawn. FL-AR3 is on watch when he seems what seems to be the reflective light of a number of eyes in the darkness. He wakes up the rest of the crew to warn them of potential danger, cutting short the evening rest. The creatures, whatever they may have been, retreat back into the darkness.

The next day, the crew arrives at the base. They were told of an old service entrance and are planning on using this to infiltrate the location. From a nearby bluff, coming out of the trees, the group surveys the area. The base is encircled by a fence and the two sentry towers with anti-aircraft guns rise above the rest of the facility.
The group waits until darkness falls and makes a move to sneak up to the gate. Unfortunately, before reaching the gate completely, they are noticed by one of the towers. Kilian slips over the fence and Garet makes a bee-line away from the rest as FL-AR3, Pron and Spanner are confronted by a patrol. The droid tries to deceive the guards by telling them that their group was in a ship that crashed and they were lost. The guards decided to let them off and told them to move away. Unfortunately the group did not take advantage of the situation further and were forced to walk back toward the forest and away from the base.
While Kilian moved around to inspect the inside of the yard, Garet managed to find the rear gate and eventually forced it open. This allowed the others to sneak back and enter the compound. Once inside they all linked up and located the old service entrance. This door was rusted shut and lacked a computer interface. It obviously had been long forgotten and unused.
With some effort the door was circumvented and the team had access to the facility finally. Now they needed to reach the lab and the kennel. Garet did his best to deceive the passing technicians and ended up finding lab smocks in a laundry area for the others to wear. They eventually worked tehir way to a computer terminal and managed to located and download the information that Dr. Maronea wanted. They now had evidence that she had been framed by the Zann Consortium. Also they retrieved her confiscated research files. The hacking managed to take control of some of the base's security protocols and closed certain blast doors, compartmentalizing the base. This however was sure to alert the security team to not only their presence but also their location.
On to the kennels, they now found that through a search of the veterinary records most of the animals had been rendered sterile through design or various experiments. There is however, 1 pair of breeding vornskyrs and 2 breeding pairs of ysalamiri. The bases repulsor loaders would allow them to extract the animals.
There were only two problems that remained: the anti-aircraft sentry towers could preclude the YV-560 arriving to pick them up and the repulsor sleds would never make the trip through the forest and up the ravine back to the ship and secondly, the door to the kennel being forced open and the arrival of the base's security team!
