Showdown (Episode 24)

Post by GM Fang »

With Lt. Bonuda now (not so) surprisingly exposed as the one responsible for Dr. Tan's murder, the crew of the Archelon discussed how to deal with him. After several ideas, they decided they wanted to confront him themselves and bring him to justice, of one form or another.

Heading back to the abandoned cantina and Bonuda's second floor hideout, the crew found it cleared out. Apparently he had moved on to a new safe house. They were eventually led to an old warehouse. Sneaking in through the back, the group found Bonuda and his gang members holded up in a small office inside.

The group, led by Irdis, confronted Lt. Bonuda about the datacard, handing it to him.

“You made sure not to tamper with this, right? Whatever you did, or didn’t do, it looks like we’re in hot water. The proximity sensor I’ve got set up a block from here shows PSF forces moving in on foot. We’re going to have company.”

The crew admitted that they knew what was on the datacard and Bonuda turned defiant. While the PSF was coming, it was not clear whether they had found Bonuda themselves or tailed the crew here. Bonuda was happy to point out that he was possibly not the only one the PSF was looking for now, due to the attack on the convoy earlier.

Bonuda and his men then turned to leave, but the Archelon crew engaged, determined to make sure he did not escape. The battle was fierce and covered a large amount of the warehouse. Bonuda had men in hiding places which attempted to outflank the fringers. Meanwhile, Bonuda himself was a challenging foe. He was a long time trooper for the PSF before turning to a mercenary for hire. Finally despite serious wounds to Ymira and Irdis, the Archelon crew managed to defeat Bonuda and his men, although several managed to get away. The PSF had broken in through the front of the warehouse and the crew was not too interested in explaining their presence, especially if anyone knew they had waylaid the convoy.

Escaping out the back, the crew hid on the roof of a nearby warehouse until the commotion had cleared down below.

Contacting Ranem Tiiv about the circumstances of the murder, Tiiv rewarded them with 2500 credits plus an additional 500 credits if they gave him the datacard. Irdis had planted a copy of the datacard on Bonuda's unconscious body.

With that mission accomplished, the team now turned their attention to finishing the acquisition of the remaining blaster rifles that Lissa Kale had requested from Xander at their last drop off. They were well overdue by now for their regular supply drop.

Now was the task of collecting enough credits to purchase the remaining 36 rifles that were needed. They had scavenged 2 blaster rifles and 2 carbines. Plus they had a light repeating blaster that the rebels on Arda II might want as well. The Sarlacc Syndicate was a fortuitous meeting in the convoy attack and Roona set up another contact with them. The Syndicate was based on Nar Shaddaa and the rifles could be obtained there.

Irdis managed to blackmail his way to an additional 585 credits with the datacards he had. Some of those proved less valuable because they were for various Sarlacc Synidcate members and their destruction was part of the deal for the rifles. Roona managed to negotiate a price of 765 credits per rifle. They also needed fuel for the trip and had to take into consideration that expense as well.

Trying to decide if it was better to come in short of the total or borrow the credits to fulfill the order, Roona pointed out that if they wanted to have a reputation for coming through the needed to bring all 40 rifles. The counter argument was that they would have more profit per rifle. Eventually they agreed to borrow 5000 credits from Tebora the Muun, owing him 8000 credits upon delivery. Between the sale of the flash-frozen fish from Mon Calamari and dumping nearly all of the gear and weapons that they had stashed aside, the team came up with the needed funds and set off for Nar Shaddaa. Stopping in Tatooine first, the picked up the Gank named Syalla, whom Zavi had met previously at Bargos the Hutt's palace. The crew of the Archelon were now gun runners.
